I'm a little bit annoyed that NFL offenses were so incredibly productive last season since I have a soft spot for defenses (I play DB myself) but watching defenses like the Rams lightened my mood. Morris isn't Staley. Whether Morris can figure it out and make the same in-game adjustments that Staley would've is doubtful. Morris has basically the same defense coming back sans John Johnson and Troy Hill so we'll get to see just how much of a difference an elite DC can have on a defense vs a regular DC. Expect the Rams D to slip a little this year. They're still stacked defensively but when talent meets scheme good things happen. When talent lacks scheme... I guess we'll see.

They also had plenty of DTs to rotate them in that formation. Most teams prioritize the DE position, and most DEs can't play the 3-4 technique nearly as well as a DT. • I wonder if this is what the Browns are planning on. Getting Troy Hill allows Denzel Ward to follow the opposite wr1, we got more safeties that can do some LB things in JJ3 and Richie Lecounte along with Ronnie Harrison and linebackers that can do some safety things in JOK and Tony Fields. It'll be interesting to see.

Time will tell if Barry can do it, but if he’s able to pull it off, I’d be very interested to see what Kenny Clark and Jaire Alexander would look like as the cornerstones to this scheme.

  • For those who might not know: The two ways a defense plays the run with only 6 or 7 in the box tend to be: • The over/under fronts where the weak side safety has flat coverage and weak side end run force support. *If you play Madden, you might notice cover 3 defenses where your safeties look like a split cover two over the top. That isn't a mistake. That is real. Just be sure to flip your defense so the safety with flat coverage is opposite the TE. You can also shift your defensive line or linebackers towards the TE.* • You ask both CBs to be belt force support or play the flats in pass coverage. *In Madden, this is the typical Tampa 2 with both CBs in light blue zones. This is a front where you often want to pinch your line and spread your LBs. Your front 7 is trying to clog the middle and trust your CBs to stop wide runs.*

The physical press corner who tackles well is very much a mold teams coach up from a young age. Even our current 49ers have E-Man (Moseley) and Jason Verrette. Didn't we get a physical CB in the draft? Edit: Yes, Ambry Thomas. Traded both 4th round picks to go up and get him.

We get a shoot out, like KC vs Rams in the regular season and people say the defense was terrible. We get one side that can play defense and the other getting smashed and we have Tampa Bay vs KC, where people knew it was over by half time or earlier. Fans don't know wtf they want.
