    • I figured out some of the things myself because I have abusive/neglecting parents. My male source thinks i cant do anything without him. HA! That misogynistic pig. I changed the lockless knob he put on my door with a keyed one. They buy fans for my siblings and not for me. They wanted to throw out the old so i took them and fixed them. I also opened up the aircon to clean it. Am learning to fully disassemble it to clean thoroughly from youtube video. I also learnt to replace my watch battery(would have cost me 100bucks using official service, lol) and do PC stuff from youtube and online tutorials.

  • One of the last gifts my dad ever got me before he passed unexpectedly… was a drill, a toolbox/carrying case for it, and lots of accessories and an extra battery. I ended up putting up mine and my roommates curtains after he showed me how to use it properly. He had 2 girls but taught us both how to cook, clean, and the typical “boy” stuff. This brings back memories of him showing me this, I’m so glad you posted this. ❤❤

  • As someone from the south, particularly a Louisianan, we have a habit of calling things by the most common name brand. Adjustable wrenches are Crescent wrenches, gaspump pliers are Channel-Locks, etc. Also, common screws and screwdrivers are never referred to as such around here. They’ve always exclusively been referred to as flathead here. Much love!

Nobody wanted it and my grandma didn't want to throw it away. I found some tools in great condition and took them home, as I'm the only person in my family to do manual work and crafts as a hobby. From what I heard about my grandpa, what he was like, I think we would like each other. Sometimes I like to imagine that we would spent lot of time together in the workshop. I love using his tools as it's my only connection to him and I think he would be happy they're still in use and good condition. Thank you for reminding me of him. ❤

  • Fun fact about the magnet : of course it will only work on iron based metals (aluminium, lead, copper won't react much to it, beyond trying to slow a moving magnet down, but not get attracted). However not all steels are attracted to magnets ! Red hot iron isn't magnetic for exemple, and common stainless steel that has been shaped cold also loses its magnetism
