Kevin was allowed in the den when the cubs were less than a week old. Kevin was allowed by the lioness to interact with her cubs when they are in their most vulnerable state. Lionesses will chase off their own sisters at that age. It's just remarkable

I cried right along with him when she passed😭🐾 he said something along the lines of “I didn’t just lose a lion, I lost a friend” and it was so, so true.

At some places that has lions, handlers/trainers say that the mother would not allow them to handle or work with her cubs. So they say they must remove them from her in order to hand raise them. In one video I saw the handler said it is not a big deal and the mother mourns her cubs for only a little while. The methods Kevin uses is very different. He seeks to establish trust with the mother and then she trusts him to let him handle her cubs. I think his way is the best and most humane way. I'm not visiting these other places, nor watching their videos.

I amazed how the lioness, rubs her face on him like a house cat. Then let him handle the cubs. Shows she knew he was of a kind heart. The first few moments, she is like yes I can fit in your lap, let me show you. 2:43 such a wonderful shot, taking a snuggle nap.

I sure to god ischa only do paw challenge game with kevin and laying all his cubs like kevin is their protective godmother who will share their ups and down like he did to her
Kevin was allowed in the den when the cubs were less than a week old. Kevin was allowed by the lioness to interact with her cubs when they are in their most vulnerable state. Lionesses will chase off their own sisters at that age. It's just remarkable
Looks like she believed she was human not lion.
I too was astonished. Even when he pucks them up she is 100% at ease.
@@garpikemike1, absolutely! They truly had a special bond/connection and remarkable is the exact term I use too. Such a privilege and he reiterates that constantly. I cried right along with him when she passed😭🐾 he said something along the lines of “I didn’t just lose a lion, I lost a friend” and it was so, so true.

11 years ago, wow how time flys. Kevin has had two great Lionesses, Ishca and Amy who just recently passed away due to cancer, RIP to both of you, you have enriched the lives of many!

Evidently those aren't the rules of nature for her.
At some places that has lions, handlers/trainers say that the mother would not allow them to handle or work with her cubs. So they say they must remove them from her in order to hand raise them. In one video I saw the handler said it is not a big deal and the mother mourns her cubs for only a little while. The methods Kevin uses is very different. He seeks to establish trust with the mother and then she trusts him to let him handle her cubs. I think his way is the best and most humane way. I'm not visiting these other places, nor watching their videos.

I think he has raised a lot of the lions himself, or at least known them since they were little. I don't know if it's possible to establish such a trust if not from birth, but I might be wrong
