  • Just so everyone knows, Wertpool, the creator of Exoptable Money and Presentable Liberty, a game that Mark played ages ago and helped popularize back then, which also Mark mentions by name during the first game (Spin to Win), passed away in June of 2018. I just wanted to bring attention to it since I think it's an incredibly tragic loss especially for someone so talented. RIP.

    • sadly i believe he lost his fight with depression, after feeling he’d never make an impact. i wish i’d had a chance to tell him his games, specifically mark’s playthrough of them, had impacted me deeply. a reminder to reach out to anyone who creates anything you like and tell them how great it is- you have no idea how much that might mean to them. ❤

    • That’s crazy, I didn’t even know that. I totally based parts of Spin to Win off of that game; I watched Mark play it for the first time.

    • Given the writing of Presentable Liberty, there's bits that hint at him being suicidal. Hell, the game is like a suicide note. It's an absolute masterpiece in what it aims to accomplish, but the reality of the dev using his own pain to create such beauty is hard to hear.

    • Presentable liberty and exportable money for me were life changing games showing the powers of greed over a person and how it could lead them to do horrible things to others. The games have a depressing yet slightly hopeful atmosphere.

  • In the first game, the guy is given noodles and waits to eat them. He's given bugs and doesn't eat them (yes people actually eat bugs). He's given an arm, and doesn't eat it despite being in a situation without food. But when given sand, he eats it almost immediately. 10/10 survival skills

The footage of him eating sand is at his friend group's YT channel though called The Boys. It was his first time in Australia and he just.. ate sand! I'm sorry this sounds like I'm plugging their channels here but someone might ask me who I'm talking about and for proof of that happening. He was just so weird, in a hilarious way.

The moment he got cup noodles and said he needed to spin for hot water, all I could think of was how in the game show, the guy eventually won rice--uncooked rice--and was so excited until he realized he hadn't yet won any meals to cook it, not a heat source, not a pan or rice cooker, not even a paper cup to put it in. Just a bag of uncooked rice. Did he at one point win some sort of gelatin/jelly liquid that wasn't technically inedible and cooked something in it because he didn't have water?

    @joedench171@joedench171 Жыл бұрын
    • Honestly there have been several times where those games, when they get updated, become standalone videos/series. The Baby in Yellow and I _think_ Mortuary Assistant are two that come to mind. Grandma too. Definitely many more. Going through the "3 Scary games" wiki page, if you really _want_ to, you can open up the lists for the different episodes and see in the info blurb which ones say there was higher than 1 episode, that means one of the three games he played in that video got revisited. Hope that helps :P

Instead, he was left with lots and lots of trauma. Yes he contractually agreed, but nothing can truly showcase the horrors of what this man went through. When fans were trying to figure out where they locked him up, they moved him to another home so that he couldn’t get food. The thing is, the show can control whether he got food or not. Out of all of the sweepstakes, you would think that food would be the easiest to win, especially if he signs up for multiple food sweepstakes. However, he’s given items like used panties or other useless items

  • I remember when Markiplier had 35k subscribers. All these years later, here he is. Nearly 1000x that (wow) & still thriving. I hadn't watched one of his videos since 2018/2019. I stopped trying to catch up on an 11 hour charity livestream that had Bob, Wade, & I think Jacksepticeye with Mark. Watching this made me laugh because he hasn't really changed that much & I love the authenticity of Mark staying true to himself. I'm so proud of him for the success he's garnered & continues to amass. Thank You for being You Mark.

    • I miss those days. I remember when he got his first 1M views video and it was such a big deal; now every single video he posts exceeds that count. I never thought he'd be able to keep me entertained for an entire decade. So many youtubers of the early 2010s who were big back then either went downhill or are simply just no longer getting views that much or pushing out content; I'm glad Mark got the complete opposite of that.

    • For me Markiplier all started when I watched his woof meow and moo bits. I'm not a die hard Markiplier fan, in terms of watching everything of his. But I'm grateful his content is interesting. Also momento mori, unnus annus was an awesome adventure him and Ethan did

  • That first game made me think of an actual game show they did in Japan one time when it said "maybe I can win some hot water to cook the rice." It really messed the poor guy up. He was stuck in a hotel room and had to play games for anything. Food, clothes, any basic essentials.

  • Presentable Liberty was terrifying enough, and it wasn't even a horror game. Spin to Win really needed to capitalize on this existential dread a bit more. I think a horror version of Presentable Liberty would be amazing. PL is still one of my favorite games you've ever covered on your channel. If you're new here, go watch it. It clearly left an impact on Mark, for him to bring it up so many years after playing it. It still sits with me, and I go back to rewatch it at least once a year. Guess it's time to watch it again.
