Had a foggy night this week. Wanted to show the usefulness of my Diode Dynamic SS3 Max (SAE Fog) lights were on the road.
And in combination with my Baja Designs Squadron Sport (Driving Combo).

  • Thank you! Not enough people post the results of how the lights function at night installed on the vehicles! It’s really the reason many of us are looking them up. We want to see what they would do for us at night if we bought them for our vehicles. They looks to help you a ton! Be safe out there!

  • I can’t decide on BD or DD for my jeep build. I have to say I love the BD look but damn they’re $$$.

  • Hey ryan, great vid! I was wondering if you get flashed by oncoming traffic with just your ss3 Maxes on. Want to get some for my truck and replace stock fogs. Basically wondering if I should get sports or maxes for the amber fogs

    • Thank you! I have never gotten flashed with these in oncoming traffic in the times I've had to use them. Their fog pattern has an excellent cutoff. They do sit up higher since they're on top of my bumper, so I aim them lower. There's a moment where I pass by a vehicle in the video with just the DDs on. You can kind of get an idea of the spread. I know diode dynamics and other users has some great videos of output shots with some of the pros possibly. I knew I wanted the most light from the Dynamics so just went straight for the maxs. Personally I'm very happy with them.

    • I also have two sets (4 all together) of the diode dynamics SS3 Max Wide SAE fog lights installed in the lower grill opening (fog light height) right next to my oem fog light location. I drive at night a ton and have yellow for one set and white for the other set. Sometimes I’ll run both on with heavy fog and it helps cut through soooo well! Also I have only been flashed twice even with all four on at night with my low beams. Aiming is key! The two times I was flashed was when I first installed them and had them aimed a bit too high. Once I remedied that it never happened again! And I can see so we’ll that it’s one of the best investments I’ve made for driving at night ever! I feel much safer. Can see in any weather and don’t strain to see at night anymore, EVER.

  • Hey ryan I have a 2010 sierra and want to add some pods to it since you have used both of these brands what do you think is a better option the baja designs squadron sport or the diode dynamics ss3 pros since they are in a similar price range, I would appreciate your opinion thank you

    • I would go with the Diode Dynamics. Assuming you'd put them in the fog light housing, they have a much more supreme cut off and won't blind other drivers in my opinion. I went to the Ozark National Forest last week and while headed home, my friend drove the entire way home during the night with his Diode Dynamics in the Pro SAE fog version behind me and I didn't find it annoying at all. They were bright and noticeable, but controlled and not unobtrusive. Was able to easily spot him several cars and 18 wheelers back. I'm able to drive with my Max version SAE fog pattern and no one flashes me for the record also. The Baja Designs Sport version I have were bought in 2017 so maybe they could have upgraded the optics since then. I felt that even with the fog pattern the light was still spread out past it's main purpose and I've had people high beam me before. Aiming them any lower was hardly useable so I just aim them however and use them off-road or in insane rainstorm/fog if I need to.

  • nice to see a real world application of these lights, are the Baja Designs mounted as ditch lights?

    @JawnJohn@JawnJohn2 жыл бұрын
    • Thanks! The BDs are mounted in the usual fog housings, and the DDs are mounted a bit higher up in the middle of my bumper. The ditch lights weren't used in this video. They are a white ElementLED brand that went out of business.

    • @@ATiredRyan oh nice! how are your Radflo’s holding up? I have the same setup as you minus the LCAs and I love it, so smooth

      @JawnJohn@JawnJohn2 жыл бұрын
    • @@JawnJohn Good to hear, mine are still holding up well, not sure when I'll need a rebuild honestly. I'm thinking on getting them to add reservoirs with knob adjusters whenever I do send them in so I can fine tune it on and off road.

  • Don't look like the Max to me, look just like the basics, Pro and Max, are way brighter than that

    • It is. It's just my crappy phone camera. That and I have these a little up higher compared to the lower position they should be so they don't spread ahead as much.
