    • He isn't exactly much older than 8 or 9. And where I'm from also start learning english at that age, but it doesn't exactly mean most people are good at it. What I think is important is that he can say it without a easily identifiable accent at such a young age. So I just assumed it was an isolated case, sorry if I'm wrong.

  • The funny thing is that when i started to learn "Deutsch", people used to say that German speak slower than French (i'm french but this could apply with any other language) because German are presumably pronouncing all the letters of a word, unlike French who never - or seldom - pronounce the final consonants. But I realize this is a MISCONCEPTION because in the REAL life when Germans speak at their normal pace, i find they speak even quicker than French. Am i alone to think this way???

  • I liked this video though very hard for me to understand. That said, I've been studying German on my own now for over a year and VERY slowly I'm starting to understand things better, especially written German. I was tired of Romance languages and wanted to try something different. Key for me is lots of patience and working on a language regularly with tons of reviewing. My native is English; I'm front Flint, Michigan in the US.

    • @@tilakchandgouli9262 Not to brag, but living a couple of years in Brazil, Spain and 3 in France definitely helped. So, I'm studying Italian also and that is not nearly as challenging as the German, but I love languages and I'm determined to learn it. I need to start speaking it. My understanding of spoken and written German have increased greatly. I taught ESL, English as a Second Language for years. I liived 25 years outside the USA. returned in 2006.

The problem is three-fold: I can't find any websites that have TV shows in German (with or without subtitles and even pay websites are welcome), which would be really motivational; the same goes for listening and reading comprehension. For English listening comprehension my students use www.esl-lab.com and for reading comprehension, www.readtheory.org, both fantastic websites, but I can't find any like that in German. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    @mrvx_fa3030@mrvx_fa30309 жыл бұрын
    • Fadi Abboud yes, you are right in this case. "(Geld) ausgeben" means "to spend (money)". "Ich habe (Geld) ausgegeben" is "I have spent (money)". Colloquially you can also say "Ich möchte dir einen ausgeben." for "I like to buy you a drink" Another meaning is "to pass off". "Er hat sich als Polizist ausgegeben" - "He passed himself off as policeman."

There is not enough and effective material which is open for public access to learn it. That is why German has the 11. place in world's most spoken language scale..

  • what!!! First she says in an earlier conversation "Nee, die Damen nicht!" and later in the conversation about wineglasses, the dude says "Nee, das sind wirklich Weinglaser drin" Is nee both a negation and an affirmation? - my world is about to explode Oh wait - is Nee dependant on the statement that follows directly after?

    @gianlucadantonio7924@gianlucadantonio79248 жыл бұрын
    • Nee is a dialect of nein. I didn't watch the video but if he said "Nein, da sind wirklich weingläser drin" then the interviewer probably said something like "im sure there is X in there" after he already told her its wine glasses, so he says, "No, its really wine glasses"

  • Conformation as in wedding?

    @solomonbrown2476@solomonbrown24768 жыл бұрын
    • A conformation is a religious ceremony where a person (usually young person) is accepted into the clergy of a church after having studied scripture and church doctrine for a period of time, usually a few years, and being dubbed worthy by the Pastor/Priest of the church to join :) That is, if it's the same in Europe as in the USA.
