    • They didn't resurface the cylinder walls. I see they took everything apart and cleaned it, They appeared to just put it back together. The piston rings look like the old ones. They went in a circular pattern to torque down bolts, which is wrong. I could go on and on. I think they even used the old connecting rod bearings. This thing will be burning oil on first crank. But its got a fresh paint job...

    • @@joedell71 Exactly. They can get away with what they do, because they're dealing with a basic engine here. In reality this isn't a rebuild though. They cleaned things, and it looks like they replaced the rings. But the scuffed pistons, and ugly looking bearings were re-installed. No idea if any valve work was done. Guaranteed this doesn't have the compression, or oil pressure a new, or properly rebuilt engine has.

I read a few comments on how things were not done perfectly, but at least you do it and an old engine runs Again. So i support your job 100% and you can be very proud of your work ! I would be so glad to come to Pakistan and meet you ! Respect and keep doing it ! Regards from Europe

    @762223100@7622231003 жыл бұрын
    • A true mechanic/engineer would have used a torque wrench, just like the factory did when the engine was first built. Not using a torque wrench is not the correct way to do the job. Not taking anything away from these guys, they do a great job with what they have available to them, but let’s be realistic, they are not doing a proper engine rebuild here.

      @TechRossNZ@TechRossNZ3 жыл бұрын
    • @@TechRossNZ You completely miss the point of the comment, sitting in a western 1st world country is all very well. I have seen people rebuilding a LR diff in the desert and sand complete it with ease with very few but essential tools. Torqueing down bolts whilst ideally done with a gauge of some type can be done with lots of experience with reasonable success. Remember these engines are not freaky intolerant divas but workhorses that are built like tanks. I was commenting on the abilities of these guys to do the job with very little. May be well to remember that when the AK47 came out everyone trashed them but I've seen one picked up after weeks in dirt and mud in a dry area, all that was needed was the bolt kicking open a bit of a shake and off it went. A lot of simple engineering is similar.

  • I have rebuilt many diesel engines myself. I have done every engine the way I was taught to be correct, by measuring everything and buying new parts and premade gaskets and using torque wrenches ........the whole nine yards. STILL after I get it together and start it sometimes there would be a issue somewhere. For example I measured all my cylinder bores with my inside mic. order my new slugs from clevite, and still got a hundred thousand under size piston from Clevite. Of course I made the mistake of trusting Clevite and didn't measure my new pistons before installing them. So after all the money for new parts and replacing all the pistons and rings and bearings and so on, I get the diesel engine all done and start it and there is a constant tapping sound in one of the cylinders, because of the just so slightly undersized piston, the piston was rocking up and down the cylinder and the piston skirts was knocking on the cylinder wall. My point is, I did everything correct and sometimes you can still have a issue. These guys are so good the can look and feel the parts going together and know if everything is within spec enough to work perfectly!!!! And oh my god, look how they worked together so perfectly!!! Hell here in America we are so spoiled and want everything our way, that two mechanics working on that engine would kill each other within 20 minutes of working together!!!! These people have no choice!!! They either do it or they don't have the engine!!! I am so impressed!!! I would bet that engine will run for many more years flawlessly now!!!! That was just impressive!!! it even looked like they made their own gasket sealing paste!!!?? Using old manilla office folders to cut gaskets!!! And painting over gasket areas, hell that paint when it gets hot will probably just help everything stick together and seal even better!!!! I have been a mechanic for over 20 something years and I have seen a lot of shit and done a ton of shit, BUT never seen anything like this and it WORKS OUT GREAT!!! This is just because of their experience and know how!!!
