Apple Studio Display for HALF the PRICE | Kuycon G27P 5K Monitor Review
Apple Studio Display for half the price! Kuycon G27P 5K monitor review.
Kuycon G27P is a 27 inch 5K monitor with awesome build quality, glossy finish, 600 nits of brightness and 99% P3 color accuracy. Kuycon G27P 5K is a competitor to Apple Studio Display and LG UltraFine 5K, but for a very attractive price. Kuycon G27P 5K is great for Macs because of the high PPI of 218 and perfect MacOS scaling, it also supports brightness adjustment with brightness keys on the Mac and a single USB-C connection with 100W power. Also Kuycon G27P 5K features a ton of ports, including HDMI 2.1, Display Port 1.4, USB-C, USB-A and AUX. Kuycon G27P 5K is made out of aluminum and has a super steady stand (with or without hight adjustability) or a VESA mount. Kuycon G27P 5K can also work with Windows and Linux. A perfect monitor for photographers, videographers, editors and creators - Kuycon G27P 5K 27 inch monitor review.

Would you buy Kuycon or the Apple Studio Display? #kuycon #applestudiodisplay #kuycong27p
definitely the ASD...a chinese knock off display for $1000???....no way!!!
Sorry, I would not buy either monitor. But instead, I would order off of Apple's Veteran's web site (with a 10 percent discount) their 32-inch XDR display (smile...smile).
@@transitengineer :)
I got the Studio Display and its great. But not awesome, when it comes to refresh rate or nits. Anyway, i would never ever ever buy a clone - which this monitor in the video seems to be - lay down 1000 bucks to buy a monitor form copy catz. i would rather buy a secind ASD before i do this
Neither
Made the mistake of buying one of these from the “factory” here in China. Three days to get them to ship it. Constant lies about testing… just hopeless. Perhaps the Russian and American stores are better. Suggest to avoid like the plague
Thank you for sharing this! Being looking for a cheaper one with 5k and those specs.
Welcome) stay tuned)
Just ordered from their us website, lets see how it goes and how the display performs :)
Thank you! This the solution I have been looking for! 💪🏾 Subbed
Thanks mate))
Thank you for the review! I see it has both HDMI & USB-C inputs. If you plug in two separate computers, one computer connected into the USB-C port, and the other into the HDMI port, which port will it prioritize and display?
Didn’t try it, but you can pick the preferred input with a remote control
Thank you for your review, I intend to buy this one but in Viet Nam , some guy agree to other model X not P, 4 option available in VN is S9 Samsung, Rich Vision RV100, Studio Display, and Kyucon g27x , 2 of them is S9 and studio are sell and have warranty in Viet Nam , s9 is nicer price with me , but it is matte coating like RV100 and Rv100 iit cheaper than S9, so i choose pick RV100 , but it is matte Screen coating and out of the box plug and play if dont calibrate , It's is so Blue with my Spyder X2 , said that 7900K white point . After calibrated with SpyderX2 it is very good in color when compair with my 16 inch M1 Pro , but if let me choosing to by monitor again, i will buy G27p and pay more money with glossy screen and design
Which one of the X o P look more like the studio display in terms of bezel size? I have 2 studio displays. Curious how they would look with either option. I would prefer it to look almost exact but the P certainly seems to look better and likely has smaller bezels? It is hard to spend 1000 though when I can just find a used studio or refurbished for close to that
The P has slimmer bezels and smaller and lighter overall
@@NOlimitsON ok so the X is similar to the Studio display? Is the quality of the screen any better on the X? Or it’s just slimmer and more ports?
28 inch 5K it the perfect screen because 200ppi. I currently have a 4K at 28 inch, for 150ppi goodness at 100% scaling. 200ppi at 125% scaling means "150ppi" still just sharper. 30 and 32 getting too large, 26 too small, 27 may be acceptable. I'd take 30 but in 2160 height for 21:9. But if I do pay for such a panel I want 90Hz at least, and absoltuely a 10bit panel too. And not super glossy. Still good we gte more choices.
This Kaycan has one significant disadvantage, which negates all its advantages - its LED backlight contains a lot of blue /cold spectrum, which for many of you / users, after half an hour of operation, your eyes will start crying in pain! And no settings/adjustments of this monitor will save your eyes from this pain!
Very simple and nice design. But Is there no backdoor or security issues?😢
What do you mean?
Nice review. Have you reviewed a Samsung monitor which comes close? In the near future I want to buy a 16" MacBook Pro (M-series) and I want to buy a Samsung monitor to go along with it. Do you have some recommendations?
Thanks! No, I didn’t test it yet… but I think the Kuycon will be a better fit)
@@NOlimitsON ahaaa....okay. I'm going to look at this model more closely. Thanks
samsung viewfinity s9
Se ven interesante el monitor pero tengo una pregunta se puede trabajar con dos monitor tengo tarjeta gráfica Nvidia 1080Ti quedo muy atento gracias 🙂
Well, it depends on the graphics card itself, but I think in 99% of scenarios it should work with a second screen
Hi, is shipping still possible in Germany, or are there problems with customs?
You’d better ask the support team of the shop) I’m not sure
Could you please tell me how to Disable built in Lens profile on Adobe Lightroom
I’m not a photographer, so can’t help you with that…
Hi my friend, please review the Kuycon Monitor G34W...
I’ll think about it)
When it starts with „hi my friend „ one knows it’s a Chinese writing it. BTW I am not your friend now go & piss off, eat some bugs or sth or go & copy sth.
Was waiting so long for such a review. Thank you for your job! Nice English by the way! But i have questions: 1. Does it has auto brightness adjustment? 2. Does it has speakers?
Thanks mate)) no auto brightness and no speakers 😅
Would you be able to test out if the monitor can do anything above 60Hz? 5K 120hz or higher? Very interested in picking these up!
It can’t
They have a 32" 4K 144hz version (P32K), not 5k though.
@@user-pd3ib2xy5t Yeah I would love a 5K 32'' unfortunately theres non for some reason.
@@tsunammie 32 inch would be 6k and i really hope to see this in future
@@arturkre5793 I wonder if it was possible to play around with the resolution and refresh rate using apps like Better Display or Display Buddy? Maybe we can set the display to 5k at 120hz or 1440p at 120hz?
are you able to check if the hdmi port works with stuff like android tv or chromecast with google tv at 4k to watch content on netflix or similar apps?
I don’t have any of those devices 😅😅😅
All those devices uses standard HDMI protocol so I don't see why they would not work.
@@PLANETWATERMELON hdcp could be an issue, tho
I just had a look at buying one from the UK, and to be honest it's not that much cheaper than buying an Apple display with some creative thinking. Costco UK are selling the base model 27" Studio Display for £1379... so £379 more for an official Apple product. It's tempting.
Then buy a studio display and be happy)
Have you tried hooking up a PC tower to this display will it work?
I didn’t) but it should
@@NOlimitsONwith that DP and hdmi port i hope it should
Thanks! Not enough reviews on this
Welcome)
really solid for the price
No on device control only by remote is a deal breaker for me. If that remote gets lost or stops working your are SOL.
Is the screen laminated or there's a gap between the LCD and Glass?
Hard to tell… seems like it’s laminated
@@NOlimitsON many reviews says most of the Kuycon monitors are laminated, i'm really tempted to buy the 4k 144hz version
Can I have this delivered to Australia?
No idea, to be honest… you’d better text the support team of Kuycon USA
Man you solved mi life, spasibo!
Welcome)) stay tuned)
@@NOlimitsON What did you use to calibrate it? Or how did you do it?
Plate or hole version? Does hole version even help with the ventilation?
I think it’s only about the aesthetics
@@NOlimitsON thanks for reply brother. I'm still a little bit concerned about ventilation in Kuycon monitors. Does G27P gets really hot? I dont want to buy an ASD(apple studio display) knock off to use it about 6-7 months to then it overheat and die xD
@@div8698 no) it gets only slightly warm) at least with my unit it is like so
@@NOlimitsON заказал G27P но без дырок для «вентиляции». Посмотрим как будет
@@NOlimitsON got my Kuycon g27p monitor. How did you manage to control brightness from mac on it?
omg.. It looks almost like Pro XDR.. 😅 However.. the monitor of back side looks poor
I’d pick the plane back and be more than fine)
how are the speakers?
It doesn’t have speakers)
lol@@NOlimitsON
For shure no independent reviews
Your English is perfect! ❤
Thanks) I appreciate it!
hmm half price? not really the G27P Pro is $1,099 and Apple Studio 27" is $1,499 those prices straight from both manufactures sites too
Interesting. So $400 difference but this monitor is 1) Not colour accurate out of the box 2) No integration with macOS for brightness or sound control 3) No 3 studio array mic with bean forming 4) No 6 speaker array with great base for a built-in monitor 5) No built-in webcam that does center stage 5) Ports that stick out of the monitor and placed in the middle where the user needs to reach far into the back to unplug cables 6) 2x higher keyboard to monitor latency which would impact apple arcade gaming experience 7) A counter weight stand that makes moving the monitor down difficult and untasteful 8) Side USB-A port and headphone jack that breaks the unibody aesthetic. This sounds like a lot of compromise to make. At this point, anyone considering shelling out $1099 on a monitor would do themselves a service by saving a few more months to pony up an extra $400 for a much better experience
Don’t forget about the stand price of Apple studio display)
@@NOlimitsON the standard is still $999
In my country Apple Studio Display with a better stand costs 2400 euros, so 1100 euros for this one looks fair
They charge close to $300 for shipping, the is the most discouraging part
🤷♂️
yea , just check their shipping in US $249.
Those Chinese companies aren't too concerned about copyright infringement. 😆
100% 😅
Is it available in EU ?
Not sure… it’s available in Russia though 😅
Surprised no lawsuits have been made.
😅😅
I like 7:30 :)
27 is too small for video editing, better to have the BQ 32 that mimics apple display.
Me working on 16” MacBook as a main display for 2 years - 🙃🙃
If you only edit video ore Photo this is nice monitor! BUT if you are like me! Gamer, and video editor! I Can't use monitor in 60Hz!!! I need 144Hz minimum! Samsung S7 4K 32" its HALF the Price of Kuycon!
5k display usually cost a lot more..
Sued by Apple speed run
this is not a fake company?
I doubt that a “fake company” can produce something like that)
Buy cheap, pay twice.
...and yet another obviously sponsored review.
Considering that I’ve purchased it with my own cash - 100% sponsored😂🤦🏻 I even say it in the video. Don’t be stupid.
shitty monitor as almost all the chinese "products"... .
😅 arguments? A ton of Apple products are made in China as well, don’t forget 😉
@@NOlimitsON everything I bought directly from China was complete garbage. It doesn’t have independent reviews So why should we trust you?
@@NOlimitsON are made, not designed my fellow man!!!
This monitor looks like poop
Well, I didn’t think so)
As a content creator, how can you promote and object to that is clearly a ripoff? one of the problems creators face is people who grab other people's videos and then post them, often making more money than the creator, who sees pennies, as the ripoff account has more subscribers and more views as it's always posting viral videos. I know you have a small channel and can use the income, but don't trow your ethics for a few dollars.
Bro, Kuycon doesn’t even know I made this video 😅 it’s just a monitor that I bought with my own money and decided to share the experience
😂😂😂 how much is apple paying to defend them f**king apple fan boy.
To a degree I agree with you. However, it is possible for companies to sell similar items. Sure the monitors frame may be a rip off but they can sell the same monitor with their own changes to it. Without tweaks, nothing would be new by now. Brands share the same parts sometimes. Do you boycott Samsung for coming out with monitors that look similar to the iMacs?
My problem is not with with this You Tube channel, and thank you for sharing information about this monitor. But, it was with the products web site ...totally a rip-off from Apple, Inc.
Not 1/2 of the price in the US.
🤷♂️
Monitor looks cheap compared to the original 🫣😂
It doesn’t, bro) and who cares really, if the image quality is on par)
Totally agree. The price makes the decision. But as it‘s a clone, I would pay less a 1000 € maximum. I own the xdr and I am happy. Not about the price, but about the image.
"Cheap" is a complement.
