@@donsims1941 during a normal wrestling meet you are correct the teams wrestle each other with 1 match in each weight class, however in a tournament there are multiple schools with multiple people in each weight class competing to see who is best. I've had to wrestle a team mate multiple times in various tournaments

Only injuries I EVER incurred wrestling were from my own team. One was during a warmup RIGHT BEFORE A real match, my dumbass teammate tore my shouldercuff by being a moron. Quit wrestling over that one when my coach told me I was fine to wrestle and then I tore it more during the match.

I hate team based tournaments. Leads to crap like this where the school or club that enters the most competitors gets an easy ride when other smaller or single entrants battle through every round! A hollow victory and the ref should not encourage this.

When I played rugby tournaments we often lend players to other teams so they could make up their numbers. 4 short matches in a day can lead to injuries so she sportsman like decision was to help them. Did we pull our punches and avoid tackling our team mates playing for our opponents. Not a chance! What's wrong with you thinking we would. In the arena, we are there to win. When the match is over friends again. I also boxed for a short while and had 4 fights, if I ever threw a fight like those athletes did the crowd would have torn us apart. I suppose UK audience are built different

One of the MAIN differences is that the Kelce brothers faced each other while playing for separate teams. These girls are facing each other while on the same team and they're the last two combatants in the tournament. I watched the match in an alternate universe and the same girl won anyway after a lengthy struggle. There was still sportsmanship here: the girl who "lost" the toss honoured her side of the agreement. Well done to both girls and the ref for going along with it!❤😂🎉

The way I see it is it’s a competition, you practice good sportsmanship by respecting your competitors effort/training by giving it your all. Then afterwards everyone can celebrate all the work that was put into it. I did mma non competitively and I wasn’t the best, but if I did compete it would have felt like a slap to the face if my friend just threw the round.

Well, that's kinda true, but there were times we did things like this, just for SNGs. But, if we got our hands on the CPR dummies, yep, we go full backyard wrestling. At least it was like that when I went to HS, a couple decades ago. And yes, we guys do some dumb stuff, which is probably why some guys don't live as long as some women.

This is lame. My sophomore year I was in the same tournament as the varsity starter on my team, who was a senior, and we wrestled in the semi finals. Beat him in overtime, best feeling ever. Gained a lot of respect that day.

Sportsmanship is to actually give your best no matter who you face in every match. You should have the ability to turn on the game face and win or lose still be best friends. I hate tactical team tournaments. Leads to stuff like this!

@@xantiom the point is I have seen good and bad attitudes in sports in many areas. Tactical team tournaments don't bring out the best in people's individual performances. To be fair it's a case of don't hate the player hate the game. In this instance the game is scoring team points at the expense of the audience and other teams not lucky enough to have 30 team mates entered to skew the results. Small schools and clubs with better athletes end up more tiered in the finals because the larger teams can give each other a free pass through the rounds. That's not sportsmanship!

@@donsims1941 during a normal wrestling meet you are correct the teams wrestle each other with 1 match in each weight class, however in a tournament there are multiple schools with multiple people in each weight class competing to see who is best. I've had to wrestle a team mate multiple times in various tournaments

Only injuries I EVER incurred wrestling were from my own team. One was during a warmup RIGHT BEFORE A real match, my dumbass teammate tore my shouldercuff by being a moron. Quit wrestling over that one when my coach told me I was fine to wrestle and then I tore it more during the match.

When I played rugby tournaments we often lend players to other teams so they could make up their numbers. 4 short matches in a day can lead to injuries so she sportsman like decision was to help them. Did we pull our punches and avoid tackling our team mates playing for our opponents. Not a chance! What's wrong with you thinking we would. In the arena, we are there to win. When the match is over friends again. I also boxed for a short while and had 4 fights, if I ever threw a fight like those athletes did the crowd would have torn us apart. The way I see it is it’s a competition, you practice good sportsmanship by respecting your competitors effort/training by giving it your all. Then afterwards everyone can celebrate all the work that was put into it. I did mma non competitively and I wasn’t the best, but if I did compete it would have felt like a slap to the face if my friend just threw the round.

Back when I did TKD I don't think any matches were more vicious when two people from my club met up in competitions.

All around good sportsmanship of all involved in this. It's a pleasure to see fun being had in a pvp sport. It's a rarity nowadays. The ref getting in on it, was just the perfect icing. Epic
