Dimash is from Kazakhstan. SOS is from a 1978 rock opera. If you love his low, baritone voice then review his Olimpico (Ogni Pietra) sung live, outdoors, in Italian, for the opening ceremony of the European Games (a precursor to the olympics). It was composed by Igor Krutoy. Krutoy also composed “Stranger” that Dimash sings in English… one of his best performances, also sung live…. Enjoy!

Dimash is Kazak, (from Kazakhstan). He has to mother tongues, Kazak and Russian and he is fluent in both. He also speaks English and Mandarin Chinese fairly well. He began his classical vocal and instrument training at age 5. This video is older but currently, he is age 29. He is now Dimash Coo die bergen (hard g) PhD. His vocal range is now over 7 octaves and what he can do with his vocal cords is just phenomenal. He had a massive concert in China just before Christmas. He has studied film directing at the L.A. campus of the N.Y. School of Fine Arts. Like many Kazaks, he is Eurasian and Muslim. He is kind, honors his elders who have come before him and children who are to be treated with respect while instructing them. You will often see videos of him toting around babies and children. Much of his band and backup singers are those he attended music school with or wives of them. His parents manage his concerts, speaking engagements, modeling gigs (He is 6'3" tall) and is a fabulous model. He has even won best dressed awards... He has even been known to pick up a fans baby or child of fans waiting in the airports and walk around with the child while greeting his fans. His fans always hope it is their child he picks to hold. He was the official representative of Kazakhstan to China in his early 20's. He is a phenome of a human being but most call him an alien.
Let's be honest here, he barely speaks English and even worse Mandarin, if at all.

Thank you for discovering Dimash and welcome to a beautiful world of music. Dimash is a 29-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly anyway😅). However, if you include the notes he has sung live in his concerts so far, you get almost 8 octaves (7.7 from vocal fry C1 (B0) to the whistle register D8; this note is no longer on the piano). At least that's what he's shown us so far. And this in all registers (chest, mixed and head voice up to the whistle register). The transitions from one register to the other are so fluid that they are sometimes not recognized even by vocal coaches or professional singers. His voice is the result not only of his God-given talent, but also of his almost 25 years of hard daily training. From the age of 5 he attended music school in his hometown of Aktobe. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. Mainly classic and pop, so he created a new crossover genre. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. And at his concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan on September 23, 2022 he sang in 7 languages in one concert! And at his concert in Yerevan on April 29, 2023, he sang an Armenian folk song for the first time (it has to be about 16 or 17 languages so far). He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He is managed by his father Kanat, who founded his own company "DimashAli Creative Center". The logo can be seen at the beginning of many of Dimash's videos. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how. Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, intelligent, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And there are no bad nations (only bad leaders). And I absolutely believe this. His concert in September 23, 2022 was in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him and his art, you realize you are so wrong. He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to constantly improve his vocal skills. He said in an interview that he trains at least 3 hours every day, if necessary, it can be 10 hours to prepare for a concert. He loves swimming and also a lot under water. Maybe that's why he has this large lung capacity to hold the notes as long as he does. He's a singer you can't put in any box. He sings almost every genre there is. Every time you watch a video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing. Not only is he perfect at singing and performing, he's also an incredibly good actor. Check out his music videos. They are amazing. You think I’m exaggerating? No, I don’t think so😄. He sang this song as a guest at the Slavic Bazaar in Belarus 2018. It’s an International Festival of Arts and a contest for young singers, which he won in 2015. SOS is a song in the rock-opera „Starmania“ from 1978. The first who presented this song was the French singer and songwriter Daniel Balavione. The last phrase „Sleep, child, sleep“ is sung in the musical as the character bends over the corpse of his girlfriend, who has committed suicide SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. Here he sings in a competition for young musicians, called New Wave in Sochi, Russia. He was there in 2018 as a guest. The gentleman at the end you see standing and clapping is the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. If possible, always watch the videos from start to finish. Very often there are interesting things to learn. Either there’s something to laugh about, or he’s talking to his audience. He always thanks his musicians. He is incredibly humble and never acts like a star. When he is praised, he constantly says that it is thanks to his teachers and his parents, who made it all possible for him. He’s just incredible. "SOS" his signature song, "Sinful Passion" Goes from incredible singer (pop sort of) to a soprano, to folk and then finishes it with something from the gods extremely impressive song showing his extreme talent. Next is "Ogni Pietra (Olympico)" This is his opera song that goes from baritone to extreme soprano and was written specifically for him. Don't know if anyone else can sing it. Next is "Love is like a Dream", low voice start to an incredible love song and then an angel comes in to sing like the Viena boys' choir at its best and then one hell of a finish. Then it becomes some of his later stuff. "Stranger" He has actually gotten even better, a song written for him and has a 5-octave range built in. "Ave Maria" Full soprano vocalize that hit's an F6 before a very long held C6 at the end (must hear) and then there are a lot more songs to listen to as well. Welcome to the wonderful world of Dimash, also known in China as 迪玛希。 That’s where he catapulted to world prominence back in January 2017 on the program 歌手。 Dimash is from Kazakhstan, and speaks Kazakh and Russian very fluently. He also by now has learnt enough English to function adequately most of the time. I think he took some French in school but doesn’t speak it. This song comes from the 1978 French Canadian rock opera Starmania, and is considered one of top 5 most difficult French songs. “SOS d'un terrien en détresse” tells of an earthly being that is in distress and asking for help because he never felt well in his own skin, he better wants to be a bird to see the world in case it could be more beautiful when seen from above. Luc Plamondon wrote the lyrics of SOS about a very distraught young man who just lost his lover causing him extreme questioning of his own existence. Finally being by her lifeless body, he is able to let her go “in peace“ with the words ‘sleep, my child, sleep’. It is a part of an french Rock-Pop opera released in 1979: Starmania. One of the 5 most difficult songs in French language. It was recorded by Daniel Balavoine in 1979 or so and Grégory Lemarchal won of the French reality singing competition Star Academy 2004 with this song.
