On Thursday, April 25th, 2024, a four ship of Royal Air Force F35B's made their way from their home base in RAF Marham on the east coast of the UK, to RAF Valley on the west side.
The intention was to show the new aircraft to the student pilots currently at RAF Valley who are learning to fly the Texan T6 and the Hawk T2.
The four ship of F35's entered low level and made their way to Valley via the Mach Loop.
In the afternoon, two pairs of F35's left Valley at different times. The first pair left around 16:10hrs, with the second pair leaving around 17:00hrs.
One of the jets in the second flight struck a bird shortly after going through the Mach Loop, which was believed to have gone down the air intake. An emergency was declared, and both F35's returned to RAF Valley and landed safely.
