Sean Strickland faced Nordine Taleb on October 27, 2018, at UFC Fight Night 138. He won the fight via technical knockout in the second round. Strickland became a free agent after the fight by fighting out his contract.

- I don't hate the guy but his style is probably the most boring in the UFC. The Floyd Mayweather of MMA. Relies on scoring to win fights most of the time, lots of decisions, covers up the whole fight. I mean, it's a smart fighting style that's made him a champion, I just don't want to watch it.

referees should be instructed to stop fights very quickly in order to avoid serious head trauma, prevention is better than cure, isn't it?
