Hidden Heart: Interracial Love and Racism
Hidden Heart is the work of filmmaker Zara Afzal and Producer Christopher Hird (Battle for Barking, Inside the Saudi Kingdom, The End of the Line).
Hidden Heart follows the stories of three second generation British women who find love outside their faith.
The film delves intimately into their struggle to reconcile modernity with tradition; their internal conflicts and fear of ostracism, and sheds light on the hidden tensions in our modern society between integration and tradition and the people who are at the heart of it.
The film explores a new vision of cultural identity, defying the notion of a so-called ‘clash of cultures’ and challenging barriers to understanding between different communities.
Although focussing on the lives of British men and women, the film will strike a chord with any and all of those around the world living in a tight-knit community, under pressure to maintain their identity.
Director: Zara Afzal
I’m a Jewish woman married to an Arab woman. I wish people can share a balanced and equal relationship like we do. We don’t fight fiercely, we kiss fiercely.
After so much struggles I now own a new house and my family is happy once again everything is finally falling into place!!
Forcing someone to convert is Garbage.
I came from Moslem family, I married with non Moslem, but I have been blessed with their understanding and tolerance, they gave us so much love and respect, even my friends are the same, when I visited my family and friends, they were really amazing, during Ramadan they make sure my husband not feel thirsty, they always make sure to bring water for us to take us somewhere. I love my family and friends so much.
This doc has nothing to do with "Interracial Love and Racism." It's 100% about finding love outside of their faith, and religion. 😆

what a beautifully told story...I felt the empathy for all the ladies and rooted for them to the very end of the documentary. I am so glad that the ending was realistic but also happy and normal as normal can be....

If all religions were banned and all religious people came to their senses, the world would be a nicer place.
