Conspiracies Around Trump, Military Leadership, and Militias - Jordan Klepper Fingers The Conspiracy

MAGA supporters not only believe that Donald Trump is still president, but that he's in charge of the military. Jordan Klepper dives into military conspiracy theories with Paul Szoldra, the editor of The Ruck, a weekly newsletter focused on defense and national security. They discuss the Jade Helm theory, how service members reactions, and how high-ranking officials like General Michael Flynn abuse their credibility to spread them. They are joined by Dr. Amy Cooter of Middlebury College, who breaks down her research on militia groups like the Oath Keepers, the overlap between members and veterans, and how militias approach “defending” their country. #DailyShow #JordanKlepper #Podcast

My dad told me when he joined the Marines it was because he loves our Country and wants to protect the constitution rights of every American, not just the ones that agree with him. He is a True Patriot. America has always been diverse race, ethnicity and religion. Not sure why you would join a military when you don’t like or respect what the United States represents.

      @carlol4649@carlol46495 ай бұрын
    • The public being able to think critically is the most important part of national defense. An aggression by nations like Russia and China will always be initiated by psychological warfare. (In contrast with the military action the US takes.) And much of all this is due to the US loosing an actual war conducted through psychological warfare. Soviet was masterful at it, although most of the European left wingers (social democrats) that was targeted were rather hard to trick. And there wasn’t the internet. Americans were, including Pentagon, were naive and didn’t see it coming when Putin launched the disinformation war. At the right time… when Americans doubted the “establishment” severely due to Bush & Co having tricked the voters into agreeing into an invasion of Iraq. And with the right demagogue to help: Trump! Pentagon seems to be horrible not only conducting offensive psychological warfare, but even defensive. The military strategy seems to be that it’s up to every American to defend themselves against a psyops campaign. A rather “the non regulated conspiracy believing militias will be our first line of defense” idea. Coming from a nation close to the former USSR, all men had to serve back then, and then essentially always be ready to be put into action within 24-48 hours. And a main component was to learn the ways of Soviet psychologic warfare. And how an aggression would be initiated and how they would attempt to trick us. The main strategy within the strategy was to get us do doubt the political and military leadership. With the use of “alternative media”. Back in 2016 it was fully clear to me this is what was happening. Besides internet being the medium of “alternative news”/disinformation, it played out just as I had come to understand it. However critical thinking also will make you become more critical towards your own domestic politicians. Although it won’t be in a conspiratorial way. Other than that I can only argue for the idea of every citizen (not only men these days) having to serve for a year or at least a few months. Not necessarily militarily, but in any areas of “crisis management”. Everyone serving with everyone… the sons of all the fortunate business owners having to dig trenches and cooperate with all the poor guys from the countryside, and all the immigrants from the suburbs. Something, that those who served in the US military (especially perhaps the Marines) also know, will increase domestic empathy, and unite the citizens even if they have different political opinions.

  • Ok, I'm going with the idea that Trump has been president since 2021. Unfortunately, this means he can't run again in 2024. Donald, thank you for your service. #22Amendment

  • Militias start out being protective of community, which isn’t bad. But, the boredom of a stable community allows for the imagination to create enemies that exist in the mind only so that the militia can justify its purpose.

    • The Militias they talk about in the 2nd Amendment and in Article 1, Section 8, Clause 15 in the Constitution is the States' National Guards. These modern militia movement guys today are just a bunch of wannabes playing army.

    • They are a clubhouse for lonely people not a community service organizations and centered around weapons and bloated sense of self-importance. They would do better by helping keep schools clean, parks, or other numerous volunteer activities.

  • I served 4yrs in USAF 1964-68. I have not tell anyone of my service unless asked! After returning from S Vietnam to San Francisco Airport and met by a group of people who heckling and Bo'ed me and couple other individuals in uniforms! From that point on I've avoided my service. My two sons know and my wife and other family, few friends who served. If asked I might consider telling but I tend to avoid if able!

  • There's one huge difference between the military and militias that is way too overlooked/not widely understood by the American public: the military has to be politically neutral and carry out the orders of the administration regardless of the political leanings of individual members. This principle of serving the commander in chief, not a party, is so strong that many officers simply abstain from ever casting a vote in an election, on principle. Obviously militias can and often do have clear political leanings and objectives.

    • The difference is that the National Guard IS the "well regulated Militia" and everyone else in playing fake soldier. Simple.

  • As as Active Duty Veteran of the U.S. Navy, I am puzzled by this reference to "Militias." What they describe is what I saw in the Reserves. Reservists met once a month on weekends, then went home the rest of the month. This was not being in the Military, which was a daily experience, not a once a month pretend experience.
