People commenting that Tyler is “Gay” is the main problem he was facing. The main reason he didn’t admit that he likes 4-town is because people would instantly think that he’s girly or in some instances, gay. The people in the comments are literally re-enforcing that stereotype.

Tbf you can infer it any way you want. His sexuality was never addressed nor was it a concern for his character. Being hyper masculine to not be seen as girly is also something gay people go through as well. Basically your interpretation is as good as there’s and there’s no real harm in multiple takes on a fictional character.

Yeah, there are a lot of small hints about him. I get that he's a jerk at first. But the first scene we see him it's actually Mei who is an asshole. So I couldn't help sympathising even then. Also, they won't let him take pictures with a panda, openly saying 'we don't like you and don't want you'. He then tries to talk to them about his plan for the party. He wasn't even blackmailing them from the start, notice - he did that only to start a conversation! And as soon Mei got engaged, he didn't bring that up again, offering honest salary for the trouble. Also notice - he had already prepared flyers with the panda, as he knew that noone would come just for his party. So the party was hit or miss, depending on Mei's agreement. And we got a glimpse of what the party would look like with no panda... The dance scene at 2:31 is cute. It's like he didn't know at first how to share having fun with others. At the panda attack scene he's kinda in the right. He paid for her services, and he resorted to an insult only after his own pride had been insulted. And he's crying for real. That cry was a good reminder that he's only 13 and has every right to cry and be scared. Sorry for my essay, I just love this character

They never gave that vibe. Judging by what I've seen they do care for Tyler. From their point of view Mei attacked their son for no reason and they were justifiably upset. I don't think they were even aware of him constantly picking on Mei. Though I like to think he told them about him bullying her around when the film ended.

I think the storytelling with Tyler was genius by the Turning Red team. Its not obvious but when you look at the details and think about it, it makes sense. Hes a bully cause thats what people seemed to laugh with him about but hes a loner kid. No one wouldve been at his party so hed be willing to give someone $200 for them to actually have people come. Then with him dancing hes shy but then with the girls he gets the confidence and seems happy and at the end its great that he gets included in their close friendship. Fantastic writing and animating

Tyler was the character when I first watched it I just was like “man they all hate him but he’s just a little alone he doesn’t really have others to hang with and he looks like the sporty outgoing type but just is a little lonely. Sometimes, apologies are unspoken through sudden change and acceptance. I think that’s what made this so beautiful. I’ve witnessed friendships that were gained from people who used to bully people. As a sideliner, I chuckled but was also impressed because I never in a million years would think that’s possible. I didn’t want to interfere or jinx it either so I just let it be. But I understand what you mean at the same time 👍

People commenting that Tyler is “Gay” is the main problem he was facing. The main reason he didn’t admit that he likes 4-town is because people would instantly think that he’s girly or in some instances, gay. The people in the comments are literally re-enforcing that stereotype.
Tbf you can infer it any way you want. His sexuality was never addressed nor was it a concern for his character. Being hyper masculine to not be seen as girly is also something gay people go through as well. Basically your interpretation is as good as there’s and there’s no real harm in multiple takes on a fictional character.

Yeah, there are a lot of small hints about him. I get that he's a jerk at first. But the first scene we see him it's actually Mei who is an asshole. So I couldn't help sympathising even then. Also, they won't let him take pictures with a panda, openly saying 'we don't like you and don't want you'. He then tries to talk to them about his plan for the party. He wasn't even blackmailing them from the start, notice - he did that only to start a conversation! And as soon Mei got engaged, he didn't bring that up again, offering honest salary for the trouble. Also notice - he had already prepared flyers with the panda, as he knew that noone would come just for his party. So the party was hit or miss, depending on Mei's agreement. And we got a glimpse of what the party would look like with no panda... The dance scene at 2:31 is cute. It's like he didn't know at first how to share having fun with others. At the panda attack scene he's kinda in the right. He paid for her services, and he resorted to an insult only after his own pride had been insulted. And he's crying for real. That cry was a good reminder that he's only 13 and has every right to cry and be scared. Sorry for my essay, I just love this character

They never gave that vibe. Judging by what I've seen they do care for Tyler. From their point of view Mei attacked their son for no reason and they were justifiably upset. I don't think they were even aware of him constantly picking on Mei. Though I like to think he told them about him bullying her around when the film ended.
@@alphagirl5212 You know, there's a "Turning Red" fanfic called "Once Enemies" in which Mei and Tyler get into a relationship and have to deal with drama from both of their families, especially Tyler's mom, who sees Mei as an animal for what she did to her son. It's quite a good story, actually; I'd recommend it.

I think the storytelling with Tyler was genius by the Turning Red team. Its not obvious but when you look at the details and think about it, it makes sense. Hes a bully cause thats what people seemed to laugh with him about but hes a loner kid. No one wouldve been at his party so hed be willing to give someone $200 for them to actually have people come. Then with him dancing hes shy but then with the girls he gets the confidence and seems happy and at the end its great that he gets included in their close friendship. Fantastic writing and animating

Tyler was the character when I first watched it I just was like “man they all hate him but he’s just a little alone he doesn’t really have others to hang with and he looks like the sporty outgoing type but just is a little lonely. But yeah he may have bullied a lot of people but he’s just venting frustrations as kids would usually do. But idk he’s my fav character has a lot going for him

Sometimes, apologies are unspoken through sudden change and acceptance. I think that’s what made this so beautiful. I’ve witnessed friendships that were gained from people who used to bully people. As a sideliner, I chuckled but was also impressed because I never in a million years would think that’s possible. I didn’t want to interfere or jinx it either so I just let it be. But I understand what you mean at the same time 👍

I loved this movie because it has many references from the year 2000 and I also loved the participation of tayler
It's the classic trope where the bully became their friend cliche it's been done too many times but I didn't even see that cliche coming in this movie and love it super subtle.
Probably because he isn’t that harmful to her in his bullying. There are much worse bully’s where they actively try to make their victim’s life a living hell. He’s mostly talk and no bite. Annoying, but not a monster.
Either way they portrayed tyler as a middle schooler super well.

Tyler’s one of the best characters in the movie. He steals the scene in every part he’s in, and I liked him even more when he showed up at the concert and Team Mei welcomes him with open arms. Seriously, I want to see more of him soon
