Great to see an American survival channel use a normal knife for once and not the usual MASSIVE tactical, Rambo(III)-esque knife. Good show sir and great information. Thank you it.
That where my thoughts also. I am guessing at best this knife is about 4 1/2 probably 5 inches. Plenty of knife. My EDC is a cold steel about 4 1/4 inches. I have a 6 1/2 for the field, I use it for camping. But that is the biggest one I have. The only exception I can think of is a Kurki for camping. But use what you got.
Also you can tape a sewing needle and a fish hook or two to the sheath before you wrap with paracord. The inner strands of the paracord can be used as sewing thread or fishing line as a backup.
You can fold them up in duct tape and then wrap the handle. That way you can carry more stuff.
@@FishTheJimWrap which handle?
You should have your own channel, SO genus
@@eternaladventure-wm5fn lol whoops I did mean to say sheath. :)
@@hiramhaji7813 Well, it’s useful information that wasn’t mentioned in the video that some people might not think of. That’s the great thing about youtube and human life: people can comment and share information. It’s the whole reason why we have languages. If you don’t like it move on.
Andrew enters the forest with a knife....the next day a new city is named...one of the best channels there is. Thank you sir.
Think about this dude - a ranger - telling us a solid but inexpensive knife ..no big deal if something happens to it vs the ace cost of knives on all those "Knife Review" channels by dudes you can tell spend most of their time just playing videos games and pretend man. Almost never one under a $100
Great video from a great instructor that shows you don't have to buy a 300 dollar knife to survive if you use a little common sense and learned skills. Appreciate you as always
…. I even carry an oversized pocketknife in my purse… each vehicle.. To go bags… I’ve learned so much from your channel… A knife isn’t just a knife… It’s an undeniable survival tool must have… Thanks for all you do😊 Have a safe and blessed week, Andrew and everyone reading this post…🙏🏻😍
I carry a Spyderco Resilience in my purse and a Victorinox Sentinel in my waist bag both fairly large blades
Thanks Andrew for sharing practical tips on your channel ! Being a soldier of Ukrainian territorial defence, fighting russian invaders I also carry the same knife on my belt. Greetings and regards from Ukraina!
Hows it going in the Ukraine? Blessings.
My country send many milliards of euro for ukraine And many french people cant eat every day...
@@MrFroggy29they can go to Ukraine and fight, will have plenty of foods
So many years Mora is the best affordable knife,i prefer the robust model it's very thick and strong.
This Mora is the exact knife we chose for our young troops for their first fixed blade. One thing we noticed was that rubber bands made from bicycle innertubes did not last in our tropical environment. We experimented with several different tubes to find the best sizes for our applications. Next, we may purchase brand new innertubes in an attempt to get a longer-lasting band. If anyone has a better, long-term solution to bicycle innertube rubber, please post it, it will certainly be of help to many viewers. Thank you, Ranger, for the video, we always walk away with new and useful information
@NewhampshireJack you can use the thickest o-rings you can find from hydraulics or auto parts to hold the knife in the sheath. I have one on mine i have used for years. You just have to experiment a bit to find the right size. Hope this helps.
I would try shock cord (stretchy cord)
Try a girls pony tail holder. Those thngs last for years
@@jasonprairie9968 Thank you, great idea. I have an assortment of O-rings for doing small repairs but none were large enough. There are a plethora of auto parts and hydraulic repair shops located along the General Douglas MacArthur National Highway. Our OPhilippine subdivision is located directly off the highway so I am thinking of a short walk on a cool morning and we may have a solution.
@@eternaladventure-wm5fn Thank you for yet another viable option. I have seen a few videos where the creator purchased this material in bulk for doing repairs to camp gear. Sadly, we became very busy and did not order. Placing an order will have to go on the to-do list ASAP.
I would always store matches head down, that way you can avoid getting any damp fingers on the head making it difficult or even impossible to light.
Good idea
@@RangerSurvivalandFieldCraft learned the hard way. Went through the ice and had to make a fire to get warm (no fun). mostly boiling water for tea to ge warm inside. Yes,had foresight to have dry change of clothes in.backpack, but changing clothes when temp is below -25c and you are wet is a daunting task. fingers loose dexterity frighteningly fast if no way to warm them and you even shiver enough to hamper balance...
Once again coming through with good tips, I really liked the one for lighting the matches on the etched knife logo.
A new one for me, too. Seems obvious in hindsight. But you know what they say about that...😊
Thank you for showing these rather useful basics. Your presentation is more professional and refined than most on KZhead. Much less macho and ego involved.
I need practice, and lots of it.
I watch lots of bushcrafting channels and this is genuinely one of the best descriptions of simple techniques to practice. Thank you.
I was taught to always "remove the burr". Now I will leave it on in this case. Excellent video, so many uses for one reliable knife.
Something to think about with Mora knives. Since they're inexpensive you can buy two and set them up the same way. Wear one on your belt and the other in your pack. It'll cover the 1 is none two is one mentality. Very good knives!
Great tips. Good time to make that modifications on my Mora Companion. I got 3, just in case.
Thank you, greetings from Greece/Hellas.
This is helpful. I agree about losing a $10 knife vs a $50 knife. :)
Wow! I've never seen anybody use the logo for anything before. That was awesome.
Good tips Col.
Building one of these looks fun and cheaper than one of those victorinox plastic handle belt knives
Andrew you did a great job on this video.I really enjoy your no BS approach.Keep on doing it friend.
I didn't know about the logo striker for the wooden matches! I also liked the carry loop. I've done that for my standard Mora.
Thanks Andrew, nice set up on that Mora
Pawpaws are awesome! Trees here, didn't produce very well. Last year was very good for them! Mora is a great knife, too! Thanks for sharing, Steve
Thank you sir for another informative and awesome video..!!!
Love the fact that all of this was done with a single inexpensive knife!! Awesome video man, always appreciate your knowledge
My dad had a pa pa tree growing up, I haven't seen any since until this video
Good vid
Great video, love the amount of demos showing what a simple knife is capable of… thanks for sharing
Walking the talking! Great work!
Thank you for your service Andrew. I enjoy and appreciate your videos too
I have the mora garberg and it's awesome!!!
One thing people should know - replace your strike anywhere matches every few months. They oxidize and won't ignite without a striker from a box of matches. I keep waterproof matches with a striker ( wrapped in plastic ) in my matches case.
Just throwing this out there... For those who don't know, medicine pill bottles are actually air/water tight. This is easily confirmed by putting some cotton in one and submersing it for a bit and checking. So I'm bettering that we could take pill bottles, and put some matches in there along with an oxygen absorber to prevent that from happening. And of course some cotton as well so they're not rattling around and it's extra fuel.
Two thumbs up!
Nothing like having a Ranger around. You always make great videos. Thank you sir!
Of all the videos I watch on KZhead, yours are the only ones I give a Thumbs Up to BEFORE I watch the video. Keep 'em comin'. 👍
Very smart video.
Mors Kochanski would be impressed.
u are a national treasure of what a real man is this country needs this now more than ever
As always, excellent knife skills video.
Great video. I put a water bag and water purification tabs under the paracord wrap on mine so I have a water kit, too. Thanks, Andrew👍
Nice.
Iodine tabs?

Outstanding as always. Thanks for all of your thoughts and effort.
Top shelf stuff every time. Thanks Andrew.

Excellent video! Informative, to the point, and without BS!
Outstanding knife thanks for the information. Job well done.
Now that's how you demonstrate a knife! Great video and channel! Any chance on doing a product review of our Firestarter?
Great content as always. Thank you Andrew.
1 of the best channels on Yt very informative and clear explanations.
Always educational, Randall! Rock on ,dude!
Superb!
I love all of your videos, but this is one of my favorites! Thanks for the great skills using low cost, easily accessible tools!
Very good! I got a lot out of this video. Thank you.

Super conception pour ce "Mora Companion". A bientôt!
Unbelievable INTEL on using that Mora knife!! Thanks Andrew!!

Nicely done on showing the different things to do to knife and sheath . Good job on video !! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🪓🔪👍👍
Excellent video again, it's amazing what a simple inexpensive knife is capable of! Thanks for posting!
Good ideas and good work! Thank you for showing me ! Greetings from Germany - Walter 👍🏻
... Excellent video ,, plus good tips from comments .... These Mora knives are more than meets the eye ,, a very useful tool .. that won't break the bank ..
Thanks for the great content! Always useful!
Great knife skills and tips Andrew, great video as always.👍☘️😎🇺🇸
Just when you start to think you know a few things along comes a true professional. I learned a great deal from this video thanks for passing on your in depth knowledge.
Most excellent, sir! You took a simple supposition by a simple appearing tool, and expanded it by showing multiple uses for different projects and crafts. Kudos to you!
I always seem to find something in every video that I would have never thought of. Thanks for your work!
I really like how you explained and showed how to do feather sticks as I've been trying to figure out how to do feather sticks.
Thank you for all your great informative videos. God bless you and your family!
Thanks brother 👊🏻🇺🇸
Thanks again Andrew, like you said a survival knife is the one you have with you. It pays to try these skills before you might need them. My first bushcraft knife was the Mora Companion HD. I scraped the rounded back across a carbide sharpening rod for my 90° back. I have many more knives now but still use my Companion and will now modify the sheath as you showed. Keep these videos coming I like your style of relaying the information Cheers 🇨🇦
As always, another great informative vieo. Thankyou!!!!
I have a few knives and this is one of my favourites. Some good tips there Mr. 👍
Great video thank you
Great info and video. Thankyou and God bless.
Always excellent!
A small little powerful knife that’s can do everything ! It’s incredible for me to learn about it , thank you so much and God Bless 👍💪😊
Great knives considering the price. Nice one again Andrew. Thanks
Astounding knowledge and presentation. Thank you.
Outstanding sir as always!!!
Yeah... It's kinda hard to beat a Morakniv. Great info Major. Thanks for sharing 🤠
Here is a little tip. You can put 3-5 matches in a small plastic bag, or even vacuum them. When you make the paracord wrap, just wrap them up with it.
great stuff as always brotha!!
Excellent video
Man, your videos are great.
Hi Andrew😊 thanks for another interesting video, you can't beat a mora knife for giving you the best bang for your buck, so cheap and light maybe it would be a good idea to carry two, one thing I would add is a small sharpening device , like a DC4 diamond/ ceramic stone , as trying to find a suitable stone in the field is not always possible., and practice using it before shtf happens. Stay safe Major, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.
Looks like they sell a “survival sheath” that addresses most, if not all, of these issues. Right angle spine, redesigned belt attachment. It even comes with a little ferro rod. At a cost, of course, but it’s nice to see them addressing the concerns.
Thx for the vid Andy
Thank you, teacher! Personally, I like to keep my knife stable over my kindling and move by ferro rod!
Wow, you're on a whole other level, buddy! Dave should be watching your videos!!
I got my supplies and modified my knife sheath as I was watching the video, I had already put a sharp spine on my Mora C , love watching these knife skills, thanks Andrew
Awesome and epic video as always thank you so much for making it ❤️👍
👍👍👍 Thanks ...Alan in 🇨🇱
The paw paw is such an interesting fruit. One of the first fruits to pop up in North America after the ice age. I want to try to grow it here in north Idaho.
My farm here in the Piedmont region of NC is blessed with many Paw Paw trees. They grow well under the canopy of larger trees. Well drained doil.
@@barrycartner3855 Thanks for the tip, I’ll give it a shot.
Amazing! Most useful podcast I have seen.
Great explanation Andrew I highly appreciate thank you very much and stay safe out there
