Ghosts 'n Goblins (1986) (known in Japanese as 魔界村 Makaimura, "Demon World Village") begins with a normal scene: a half-naked knight is on a date in a graveyard with a princess. Suddenly, a demon appears and abducts the princess! The knight quickly suits up and makes rapid progres (sic) through the demon world in an attempt to rescue his royal girlfriend.
This run of the original arcade game completes the first cycle in 6 minutes and 27.17 seconds. We also have a run of the NES port ( tasvideos.org/3173M ), but the game engines are so different that a comparison between the two times doesn't make any sense. Reaching the end credits requires a second run-through of the game which would be identical to the first run-through; this is omitted in this run.
As someone who has a good amount of experience in this game, seeing the TAS run past everything in stage 6 and then wake both Satans at once gave me anxiety
I know I love tas runs because they’re really show how far we can beat a game and push it to the limits.
Yeah that ending was hairy. 😳
5:47 Ah yes. Ghosts n Goblins successfully following the arcade rule of "make the final stage a massive difficulty spike" so much, it manages to make the game slowdown (arcade games slowing down is pretty rare, save for Technos Japan games)
Local man goes on a walk through the forest and casually spits lances and kills the devil
I love this game, I can't wait for Resurrection to be released for PS4. GET THE KNIFE.
This TAS might have been faster if Arthur had longer legs. Damn those things are tiny.
characteristics of games from the 80s 😄
Nice catch!
6:00 That part was epic LOL
A Very Hardcore Game Beat it! Like a Walk in the park Amazing Run
" MAKE RAPID PROGRES. " Lmao. That end screen seems like ghost busters on NES all over again.
It's not the end screen, it's only halfway. There's a better ending if you finish it properly, with even better spelling mistake :)
That was awesome !
Lmao!!! That was the hairiest Ghosts N Goblins boss fight vs 2 Satans there at end. Well done! 😅

We need more Arcade TAS videos!
@Electronic Sports Fine then, just me. lol
game was brutally hard, it was designed to milk you of your coins fast
Whats the difference between ghost'n ghouls and ghost'n goblins?
Ghosts 'n Goblins is the first game, Ghouls 'n Ghosts is the sequel.
What manner of sorcery is this??
Weird sound emulation. The music randomly slowing down, wrong instrument frequencies, sometimes, the music gets too loud, etc. Surely, this doesn't happen on a real arcade board?
this TAS was made using Final Burn Alpha, it should sound better if ran on MAME
yes go to the page
why red devils and unicorns are so weak? o.O
La sava tu en fais moins 😂 mais je kiff quand même gg quand même a ferret pour son TAS il a fais seule donc il a dû passer du temp 😁
A. Question to those who created this game ( ghost gobblin ) were the same that made the game ( trojan )....🤔🇩🇴
:0 Habra que esperar
Seriously, a demon stealing something from the protagonist and forcing him to play an extremely difficult game? What is this, Cuphead before Cuphead even exist?
@Zach Surprised you did. The NES port was baaaad. No surprise when you've got *Micronics* porting the game to NES. I actually found Cuphead too easy but that's probably because I had prior experience with Gunstar Heroes on the Mega Drive (what the Cuphead devs said they took inspiration from).

Legit
That's only half of it.
Lol omg

I have to say, even for a 1986 arcade game, the music is awful.
Sound cards are pretty obnoxiously loud but they had to be to attract players in an actual arcade. Back then these places were booming with tons of people making noise and other games making noise so having a game be loud is important to get someone's attention. hearing these arcade games from our normal headphones and speakers without the public ambience makes them sound god awful. You can just put on your tunes or favourite remix artist covering this game or another one.
