Buying Organs on the Black Market | The Business of Crime

2021 ж. 26 Қаз.
2 992 369 Рет қаралды

The Black Market Organ Harvesting is a rampant trade in human organs, involving collusion between organised criminals and corrupt doctors, police and medical administration staff. We dive into the body trade and see the ways it operates and the risks involved for the desperate people at both ends of the deal, in what is an unregulated and often perilous market.
In The Business of Crime, VICE World News looks at different parts of the criminal economy, separating fact from myth. In this episode, we find out the reality of the black market body trade.

  • I live in California and I am friends with a nun who helps children living in an orphanage in Mexico. A 7 year old boy went missing recently (he would have been 8 at the end of the month) and they just found his body a few days ago with his organs missing. That’s why I’m here watching this video. I saw his picture, his name was Kevin and I can’t stop thinking about him and I don’t know who would do such a thing. Better to die than to have someone be killed for you. I don’t know how those people can live with themselves after killing a little boy.

I watched a film about a "doctor" who targets American tourists, kidnaps them and basically opens up the skins of the victims and disposes the body after gathering the essential limbs, to sell in the black market! The film is set in Brazil and the doctor's "practice" is located very deep in the jungle, which is required to swim under a few waterfalls, it's very secretive and remote aswell as isolated; hidden in the deep jungle, with the closest "neighbors" at least a few hours hike away!

I live comfortably, have a family that loves me, a support system that wants the best for me, yet I only focus on the negative parts of my life. Depression, anxiety, ADHD, loneliness, etc are hard to deal with, but they don't require donating an organ to manage. The fact that poor and desperate people have to resort to donating their organs just to get by or settle a debt is beyond incomprehensible.

Well, to make a long story short, he came back to his parents in an urn. The authorities, cremated him without explanation! Everyone that knew him, wondered why he would even go, because, of course, it sounded to good to be true, and he just met this guy once, with the enticement to get him over to Mexico. The parents are still investigating, yet without the help of the Mexican authorities, and it's ongoing! We all think that, his organs were harvested, and sold, then they abandoned his body....😥

    • But atleast it would then be closer to a choice. I don’t think the players in this market want this to become legal. If organ trade was legal, this would ensue a market price and avenues. It would mean more education to the public. And then, even if someone is desperate enough to do this, atleast they get a right price. Atleast they can use this to make their lives better. They may regret it later and they may have to face consequences but it would take all these nefarious middlemen out right

It really depends on the person and the community as to what most likely happened to them. I'm not saying that you're wrong I'm just saying to say that this happens whenever somebody goes missing every time is incorrect but it does happen. Just not wanting to deal in absolutes like this when there are a lot of variables and a lot of different outcomes that are possible. Some people "go missing" and just ran away to start their life over somewhere else, as I've seen happen before in my life, and they just hated the life they were living so they left without saying a word. • About 20 years ago, my grand uncle got his kidney replaced. Since organ dono was rare at the time, he had to fly to China and get one from the black market. Everything was done in less than a week.

    • ive heard stories some cartels down there being involved in this. People being grabbed off the street, kidnapped, chopped into pieces and then all of their organs sold off to the highest bidder. With all the poor migrants coming through mexico trying to get into the US im sure plenty of them disappear without anyone really noticing. Scary stuff...

    • As usual, people will always blame the supplier instead of the consumer.

    • The supplier is literally the start of all this ...Same with Drugs even if a individual wants to consume they cannot unless a dealer is out there somewhere creating the poison for them to consume , The dealers are the ones who keep the game running same way the doctors who orchestrated this are keeping it going ... Yet the person above me says blame the sick people desperate enough to buy organs and not the supplier ...Sick

  • There is such an easy solution to this problem. A few countries have an Opt Out donor system. Organs are harvested unless the person elected not to. The opposite of the Donor card in most countries. As a consequence they have an abundance of organs. So much so that they can sell or donate the surplus to other neighboring countries. Also so much abundance that you can make the threshold for contest super low. I.e. if the deceased did not elect to opt out and the spouse protests, then sure, no problem, we won't harvest their organs.
