If Deimos kills off an operator like Blackbeard, it would 1) allow Ubi to release a “new Blackbeard” without the story need for a major rework and 2) give the community a reason to actually be interested in this antagonist. For now, Deimos is just a mysterious figure that killed off a character we had no real stake in
the whole aim of siege, as far as i'm aware, is to add more operators to the game at a steady pace. So in turn, it wouldn't really make sense for them to "Kill off" or entirely rework an operator like Blackbeard. I could probably see in the future Ubisoft actually adding Deimos to the game as an operator, or not neccessarily an "operator" but a playable character
Ubisoft could delete Amaru instead, but first their design team would have to get custody of their abandoned children; they're going to need to get the blood flowing to their heads again and that young stuff isn't cheap. I don't see them coming to such a radical conclusion without it. Her design is a brilliant counterpoint to the excessive skill curve in siege, by not having one. She's perfect for new players; simultaneously encouraging them with free kills each round on the only idiot reinforcing, while also teaching them reinforcements are boring and pointless. The op with a gadget so accessible it's used exclusively for rushing; or not at all. The op given an SMG-11, hard breaches, flashes, IQ's LMG but with a x1.5... and a pocket shotgun, I mean why not? She's the perfect honeypot for players with foetal alcohol syndrome; players who can either be sold more skins, or banned repeatedly and sold more accounts. The loadout was sprinkled on to distract from the gadget making the entire game worse (like the regulation baggy of crack your local police carry for a code black), but the loadout stuck around because at the end of the day... Some people like crack.

Honestly yeah. Come out with story missions each season with missions around Deimos. Make it like extraction minus all the goofy zombie stuff no one asked for and make it more of a tactical. Each scenario unique with challenges like Ready or Not has. Maybe even throw in a raid boss aspect where you are facing off against rainbow operators who joined Deimos. Don't give them a health bar like the division but make the bosses that require out thinking them. Perhaps there could be a boss who uses nightvision and in order to fight him you have to stay in well lit areas which are his blind spot. Siege should be more like a puzzle game of finding the best entry and out thinking the enemy not something like the division.
They have situations. All they need to do is update that with missions around Deimos and we’ve got our siege campaign. It should be that easy for Ubisoft

Harry's death is the only possitive thing happend in siege story for recent years.
tbh, I didn't want Harry to die as I loved his character but it was probably the only thing that they realistically could do.
I still feel bad for Harry. I know people weren’t happy with his training methods but in doing so, he gave rainbow a chance to adapt and still operate in a decentralized manner to fight.
Nah I still think what he did to the rainbow operators to be shown as an esports event was a stupid idea. Like, these are highly trained spec ops and they are supposed to move behind the shadows. But no, Harry had to do such an event so that the operators can grow physically and mentally. I am glad that Deimos put the bullet in Harry cause...he is the worst director of Rainbow, until now

Rainbow would not have been able to stay hidden forever. Hell that was a big theme in Patriots before it got cancelled in which the True Patriots would use media coverage of rainbow operatives fighting them to boost their cause. The men in black vs people who look like ordinary citizens. All Harry did was teach them to trust each other in units should anything happen to Six.

I just miss Harry, cause when you read a lot of the operators bios, you can read quite a bit of info on him. Plus, his bond with each member of rainbow just made me more fond of him the more I read their bios. I really liked Harry, cause I feel like I know the character on a personal level.
It was actually that Hammer and Scalpel cinematic that caught my attention and brought my eyes back to the game. Rollin heavy on the lore definitely was a great decision, if not just for the players.
This would make a great transition back to the gritty old rainbow, but knowing gaming history today? Sounds like a fever dream.
I know my mind might be clouded by nostalgia, but the white mask era of seige was definitely the ultimate version of the game.
White masks should return, maybe as a somekind of plot twist where the rainbow team finds evidence that deimos works with the white mask or maybe a leader of white masks but when they raid hq of white masks or something where they tought deimos was there, but it would be a trap or something. TL;DR white masks should return.
Imagine if White Masks and The True Patriots were working with Deimos
The best way I can see it happening is that the White Masks were actually working under Deimos to force the UN's hand to reactivate Rainbow. That's why he was content with just staying in the background all this while until Harry decided to host that international tournament, which changed Rainbow's reputation from being stone cold, ruthless killers to a shining beacon of hope for a united community.

I really don't think Deimos will be able to save the writing until they are willing to take risks. The reason I say this is because I feel like Deimos will just be constant rising action like other antagonists set before him. I mean Kali was originally suppose to be a villain and we got tons of cinematics that led to nothing. The reason everyone got shocked that Deimos got Harry is because characters in this game have plot armor. Deimos can't touch any of these operators and it's proven by the fact when he set up team rainbow and the operators will only injured. So we as the audience will never really be scared of Deimos or perceive him as a good villain. Too when ubisoft designs villains based only for mystery's sake. Deimos has a mask only because ubisoft wants you to try guessing if he is an old character. Deimos is designed around mystery for mystery sake. I don't think the writers even have a story for him. It's much like how nighthaven being rainbow's rival was completely scrapped because they had no roadmap for the story. Until Ubisoft starts taking off the plot armor, developing answers to lore instead of questions, and developing a good resolution he will be a mediocre villain.

@@biznichin13 Yeah they can. Just because something happens in the lore doesn't mean it affects the game. I mean last time I checked Ash isn't unplayable because she is in a coma lmao. What happens in lore does not affect the multiplayer aspect.
Yeah I don't get it either. It's the same problem a lot of games have nowadays. For some reason games feel the need that multiplayer has to be canon in every way. It's ok to kill characters and sitll let them be playable regardless. It's not like it really matters anyway since they clearly refuse to make any singleplayer/story thing go on with them that we can actually play that would give them value otherwise. I was always annoyed at the removal of the White Masks off screen since they were already a barely touched subject, and then they were defeated offscreen despite being Rainbow's direct enemy in the lore at the time and the reason they were reinstated at all. It's why I was kinda of enjoying the fact too that Nighthaven were acting as enemies basically and we could actually play against them in multiplayer, the part of the game that is given any care or anything at all. But then they backtracked on that so Nighthaven are just kinda... there and doing their own thing that doesn't matter. Deimos is only interesting because Ubisoft is using the cheapest tricks in the book to make players think/talk about him. Take back the mystery and he's just the Sunday villain of the weak who claims he will do big things and cause big change, but then nothing real actually comes of it. Ubisoft were willing to make that dumb non-canon standalone alien game of Rainbow Six even though people had already forgotten about the alien event from years ago that was only available for a couple months before it was taken away from us. I don't understand why they can't just give us an actual story-based spinoff game with these characters. They want us to care about these characters but they're not in anything for us to care about them or see anything actually happen with them, so why is this game even character-based to begin with? Why does Ubisoft even have writers on this game?
@@Freelancer837 Ubisoft has forgotten what the Tom Clancy title is. Tom Clancy is about an elite force going up against a threat that feels impossible. It also shows the morally grey areas of war. This is not cod. The player base comes to Tom Clancy games for the tactical gameplay with good story and multiplayer. The player base does not want zombies or turning siege into the world cup. We do not want cross over events over a good Tom Clancy narrative. Ubisoft does not really know the playerbase for Tom Clancy. We keep getting them placing Tom Clancy's name on stuff that is just cheap rip offs of other games. R6 Extraction = Zombie copy cat like cod zombies The Division = Destiny wanna be Ghost Recon = third person far cry I hope they just release a splinter cell soon with good story and multiplayer that is catered to Tom Clancy fans. Because they are certainly not going to win more consumers trying to make cheap knock offs of other games.

As a reader of the og novel of R6 (before i found the game) I really hope that Deimos turns out to be some member of prime Rainbow, who is fed up with the degradation and publicity of the once unknown black ops group since they are the same lore, and I wish the lore would tie in a bit more to the book.

Halo has been making this mistake for over a decade now. As a halo fan, I wish they’d look at Siege lore and learn how to course correct without just restarting from scratch. Halo has to build lore around their story just to make the games coherent. Glad some great developers still exist

I find the yearly tournament was a good idea. Truly a antiterrorunit should be stealthy and unkown. But the tournament move is more like a marvels ironman move „ we are better than u all and we will show u yearly how much better, so don’t try it“. Now we have deimos and he is trying to proof that
in terms of originality siege broken now ubi's trying to fix it. it's somewhat working, story IS getting interesting, but cracks are still very much visible. Things like out of place gadgets, operators wearing distinct uniforms rather than a singular uniform as an unit like older titles. when I first played article 5 i was hoping for more. that single mission in the entire game feels more like an actual rainbow six mission. they really need to make more coop missions like article 5 with narrative.
I think with the uniforms thing it makes sense though. You’re getting a lot of distinct personalities from different CTU’s and yes while Rainbow was technically considered an All-In-One bundle, it’s important to remember that Article 5 was under extremes of terrorism and all we’ve seen of Siege now is training between one another. So it makes that if you’re going to be fighting against colleagues that you’re going to have your own way of dress and all the such. But I am glad we are getting a more grounded attitude towards Rainbow.

the other important part about the introduction of nighthaven that I keep seeing people forget to mention is that Nighthaven also allows the dev team to add operators from countries that don't have CTUs or just normally would not work alongside these other nations due to politics

Honestly, I like the idea of the tournament competitions. The only asterisk I have is that there needs to be clarification that they aren't using their Rainbow training in those competitions (or at least are using very little of it) and are instead more or less using regular professional training tactics with improvised Strategies and Tactics to supplement the action and keep things fresh.

Couple of thoughts, first; in the Ghost Recon Wildlands/R6 crossover DLC, there’s a throw away line of dialogue where Nomad asks about “Operation Patriot”. It’s a nod to the game that R6S ended up replacing, but it would be interesting to see them tie Deimos to that as well. Second, as much as I like lore in any game, R6S is messy. Seeing as it was marketed as a more “realistic” tactical FPS, it has departed from that greatly in pretty much every aspect. It’s much more of a modern military fantasy setting than anything else, which I find a little irksome, because it feels like the people writing the lore don’t have the slightest idea how a paramilitary organization operates. I’m not saying it should be super realistic, that would be boring. But, it would be great if it were slightly more grounded, so the military setting adds to the story instead of working against it. As it is, it feels like a bunch of idiots running around with guns, calling themselves “elite” for the sake of plot. Also, it feels like the story is trying to be so many things, that it just fails at all of them. Third; the biggest weakness of R6S’ lore is that it’s being written to fit the gameplay, instead of them being two cohesive parts of a larger product.
And what’s interesting about Deimos outfit he resembles a wolf from ghost recon breakpoint another favorite Tom Clancy series

Deimos definitely gives me the same vibes as Aaron Keener, someone who is in our eyes an irredeemable criminal and should be arrested or worse, but is someone who believes he is doing what he must to save the world, even if those choices are not the right calls. in fact Deimos screams the same vibes as the enigmatic Hunters in Division 2, people who have taken it upon themselves to course correct the flawed and fractured Division Agents into something transcendent, even if at the cost of countless operators lives. weeding out the mediocre from the extraordinary through baptism by fire.

If we don't know why team rainbow was shut down in the first place, And deimos's reason for killing harry was because deimos didn't like how harry made team rainbow a "joke", My guess is that Deimos was the director of team rainbow at the time of when they were shut down because of maybe how extreme deimos made team rainbow look.

I can see Deimos being the operator in the Article 5 epilogue- it's the last canon time Rainbow were considered CTU boogie-men rather than a part time sports team broadcasting their tactics and tech to thousands of eyes. Someone dealing with a major threat like the White Masks would naturally have sentimentality of Rainbow's roots which were kind of lost when Harry took the wheel from Aurelia.
If he ever did become playable, his guns would probably be op but what would his gadget be?
I think that Deimos is either Logan or Bishop. Leaning more towards logan though.

I think Deimos being a mastermind would be really cool. Especially if they give Deimos his own operators. Like just imagine Deimos leading an older team of operators against the newer operators. It would make sense if a new Director that is money and attention hungry like most big leaders of any company are to put rainbow in the spot light for money and to make it known that yes rainbow is still here. theres no threats so rainbow was now a cash cow. covering it up with deimos and killing the director was also really smart on their end because its now like oh snap maybe the threat isnt over it adds mystery and could allow rainbow to go back to their old ways. one thing i dont like is how deimos is part of rainbow as a playable or that rainbow are fighting against eachother. it would have been smarter and more thought out if the attakers and defenders were split up between night heaven and rainbow. I know im late and no ones gonna see this but i stopped playing when stadium came out so this is all fairly new to me. i will say the whole stadium bit is interesting for me.

ngl i stopped playing because i felt they just kept adding really dumb gimmicky operators. i dont mind some things being kinda outside our reality but it gets to a point where its just dumb. the whole ESPORTS thing is what really made me rethink playing as it just added nothing to the game. just made it way more sweaty and unfun to play. then when they try to "balance" operators they make them one of two things, over powered or useless. lets take black beard. he used to be semi op "omg he has a shield that can block his head thats OP" it only blocks his head from the front and you can still shoot his chest or legs. so they made his shield paper. there are no upsides to playing him now.

As someone who enjoys grounded and gritty military fiction and appreciates realism in my media, I enjoyed Harry and the Tournament of Champions for what it was. I liked Harry as a character and the things he brought to Rainbow, mostly because I liked his educated demeanor and personality, and I actually disagreed with everything that Deimos said. I personally don't believe that such a thing, creating a show for the public, takes away from the fact that Rainbow can be a feared Counter terrorism organization. I feel like we have this perception surrounding Special Forces in that they need to be these super secretive organizations in order to be effective and be able to operate the way that they do, behind enemy lines and in the shadows. But, that isn't necessarily true. They traditionally have been but they don't always need to be, especially in today's world where the vast majority of Special Forces units are in the lime light. Special Forces are just components of a military that have very specialize roles, and if militaries around the world are allowed to show off their power with things like parades, air shows, etc, why can't Rainbow have their own Olympics to show how good the Operators are at their job? Now, you could argue that showing off their tactics reveals too much to the enemy, however adaptation is the key thing from the tournament that Harry wanted to instill in his Operators. New enemies and threats will always learn and adapt, so why can't they? It was a good storyline that, while out of place don't get me wrong, was incredibly creative. Now, do I like the new direction the story is taking with Deimos? Absolutely, I love it. I just enjoyed Harry and the Tournament of Champions story for what it was. It was a good arc, but now obviously something new needs to happen.

idk i liked what harry did, sure them seeing the tournaments is one thing, actually having to defend is another thing. plus, its like a show of force. if people knew what rainbow could do, they would probably think twice unless they want rainbow knocking on their door. imo, killing harry is a huge cop out and is doing exactly what you said they didnt. killed him, swept him away and pretend he didnt exist.

in my opinion the lore doesnt matter its an online multiplayer game. If anything they just need to make a single player/co op game fore lore. Like the game they canceled which was suppose to be more adult oriented theme and from trailers looked awesome but they made this junk instead and the other bs games they made quarantine or whatever it was called
the moment when harry got introduced is when i can remember the game becoming worst and worst. When the dev team changes, you don't get the same appreciation for the original content.
