It was McConnell and his 2017 Senate majority that eliminated the filibuster in order to stack the court. The independence and credibility of the SCOTUS is already completely gone, thanks to McConnell and the GQP. Our system requires ethical participants to operate; those who will honor the Constitution and their oath of office, unlike whatever remains of the GQP. The independence of the judiciary has been absent since the Gore/Bush decision, and has now reached the abject heights of absurdity.

      @jayscott921@jayscott92117 күн бұрын
    • @@jayscott921 Yes, two wrongs do not make a right! In history, the warmongers always find an excuse to start a war, even if it is their actions that led up to the war. Iraq and Afghanistan are two excellent examples. BB wanted war against Palestine, and Hamas also did. They both are to blame. In 98 Hamas was being dealt with. When BB came into power he let them gain power in Palestine. He let them participate in the elections of 2006. Hamas never had a majority but then was allowed to continue even though they were committing terroristic acts. No new elections were allowed so Hamas held onto power and money and arms were allowed in to finance Hamas because BB wanted them to stay in power so eventually he could declare war on Palestine after the horrific October attacks. BB allowed the far right to take Palestinian lands illegally thus inflaming Hamas. This is a brief history that led up to this war which could have been avoided if Hamas had been dealt with during the last two decades!

  • Is criticism of Israel antisemitic? Generally, no. There is a wide range of views regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and vigorous debate and activism on this complex situation is an important component of public discourse and the free exchange of ideas. Israel is a country like any other, with policies that range from laudable to condemnable. We don't all need to agree on any given policy of the Israeli government, nor any critique. Because one is against the fascist, genocidal actions of the Benjamin Netanyah government does not mean one is anti semitic. a lot of us agree with Bernie who says being against the atrocities in Israel’s war in Gaza is NOT antisemitic.

  • We have to face the mob y'all. The angry youths and their angry parents. The people protesting. It's not safe it is a signal of disorder in such a scale. Mental health during the Pandemic in America actually increased, for a short intense length of time. Now what's up? We have the computer online and it's ready to teach lessons. We need to supply the plans for the lessons. Lesson plans. A multi tiered approach to tackling age and bias issues.

  • Interesting how there is a dancing around questions and dodging around the obvious answers, playing head games and enabling dictatorship. This goes back to the expressions of the holy writings that it does not belong to man who is walking to direct his step, and comparatively do not put your trust in princes nor in a son of man, who cannot bring salvation.

  • This case about 'Presidential immunity' appears to devolve upon the definition of an 'official act' for which it is reasonable to argue that a President would be immune from prosecution at some later time, a definition which the Supreme Court could easily establish at once. An 'official act' by the President is any act, any order, or any decree made in fulfilment of the oath of office, both in defence of the Constitution, and in defence of the Union ''against threats foreign and domestic'', while at the same time remaining within the bounds of the Law which that President is also sworn to uphold. Period. For example, even were the President to believe that his political opposition represented a ''domestic threat'', he cannot with the expectation of immunity from prosecution contravene any laws or statutes in pursuit of that belief. Were for instance the President to order the National Guard to put down a rebellion in which some protesters were killed, he is not liable for prosecution provided that the National Guard is acting within its charter and according to its lawful rules of engagement. If, on the other hand, the President were to join them and he himself to shoot dead an unarmed protester, he should be charged and convicted of murder. These same principles inferred from the definition may be applied generally to any 'official act'. The accidental death of a civilian in a drone strike is immune from prosecution so long as the military forces executing the action are doing so lawfully to defend the nation in accordance with Presidential order. And so on. The Supreme Court, were it not a disgracefully corrupt institution, could not only readily decide this case, but in so doing establish the guidelines implicit in such a definition capable of governing virtually any imaginable scenario, and should do so with alacrity.

Just like you can go to a state where tattoo is legal at 18 to obtain one then reenter your state where you have to be 50. Or smoke legalized pot in another state then return to your home state.
