While fugu might be delicious, I think the fact that we eat it is more a sign of how stubborn humans are. The more we're not allowed to have something the more we want it.
How do the puffers that are caught by birds inflate once out of water? Do some use air?
Yes, puffers can also use air to inflate, but this is pretty dangerous as they might have issues deflating if they do that, so it's never really recommended to take a puffer out of the water.

Fugu is extremely bland. I had a full meal of Fugu courses at a very nice tokyo restaurant and it was extremely disappointing. It’s nearly flavorless, and extremely chewy. Still worth a try just for curiosity’s sake though.
