Most people know him as the coach of the Warriors dynasty, but his playing career was just as successful. This is the complete career retrospective of Steve Kerr.

He's had a 72 win and a 73 win season, along with 9 chips 🐐
Agreed. I’m sure he loves MJ & LeBron equally, they both helped him win 3 chips

Talk about getting paid to witness
to hit 50/50/90 in a season is insane
Insane indeed. I fully understand why the NBA reverted back to its original distances after those three years. Players were shooting with incredible efficiency during those years!
Crazy like wow it’s crazy especially when u got players playing like it’s 2k in real life
Ridiculous stat, I don’t see it being broken anytime soon
@@mgf909tony snell already did
8pts a game 23 mins as a role player that is not insane 😂 but do whatever to hype him up tho
kerr was literally the best roleplayer a gm could ask for tbh. good shooter, humble, willing to play any role
No, he wasn't. He was a solid role player.
5 titles? Steve played important roles in them. Not everyone can be a star. He also holds the record for highest 3pt percentage in the Cavs at 47%, being the most efficient shooter in NBA history n also has 50/50/90 season. That’s beyond a solid role player
@@karelsantimi7531 there's a difference between averaging 28 ppg while having a 42% 3% to 6 ppg with 45%. Steve is just that, a solid role player, nothing more nothing less.
@karelsantimi7531 LMAO, you never seen Kerr play. Kerr was solid, nothing more, nothing less. Kerr is the 5th best PG of the 90s Bulls. His team success doesn't determine how good he was. Kerr was never close to being a top role player in the league. What yr was this?
Clutch, smart and with an absolutely unbelievable basketball IQ
Damn I didn’t know about his Pops. His career makes a lot of sense now. Tragedy tends to bring everlasting perspective to ones life and what really matters
Well stated.
Sad but true. Beautiful results from often, awful, circumstances.
Watch The Last Dance
What's insane is some goofy arseholes still taunted him with that. What a bunch of rotten dossers😩
Sad and true. Tragedy changed my life. And it made me have a greater sense of urgency and purpose. I'm happy Steve Kerr was rewarded so well after his tragedies. He's a great coach
To taunt a person by making fun of their lost family member, is absolutely disgusting.
Eternal damnation it should be
exactly people like that shouldnt exist
the amount/type of shit people say at players during games and get away with it is fucking crazy. @@advaithmallipeddi9605
It's the sun devils what do you expect they are like eagles cowboys and Lakers fans rolled into one

To be the on the 72-10 team then go on to coach … and coach a team to a 73-9 record is amazing feat within itself ..

I met Steve Kerr back in the mid-1990s, when my then-employer held a joint charitable event with the Chicago Bulls for disadvantaged children. What a classy gentleman! He remains the nicest celebrity that I've met thus far.......
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
@@bball3048mmfr Same here. Just happened to get seats for a Cleveland Indians game at Municipal Stadium in 1993. My son and I sat right next to him. Kenny Lofton was a teammate of Steve's in college, We talked baseball and both got scorecards and kept book. He was funny and really gracious with my son who was 8. I asked him to sign my scorecard as he was getting ready to leave in the 7th inning. Which he did. We said our goodbyes and after he left my son asked, "Dad, who was that guy? I said, "You'll find out. Just hang onto that scorecard. That's Steve Kerr. He's like Mark Price." My son still has that scorecard. lol
Love how he does videos on underrated players
Never heard of that. Is it a youtube channel?
He taught so much for the Warriors
He was a role player for the NBA and never was a full-time starter in his career. He is very humble about his upbringing. He was a 5-time NBA champion as a player.
Great shooter but not much else. Lacking size and physical skills, he was a bit slow and small to be anymore than a spot up shooter with limited defense. Still important as a role player though.
@@Homer-OJ-Simpson he’s only 6 foot 3, so he was just a role player who loves to shoot three pointers. He doesn’t dunk at all.
The Warriors dynasty of the 2010s-present doesn't exist without this man's incredbile journey; props to Steve🐐🐐
I am a lifelong Bulls fan and knew like 10% of the information in this video. Incredibly well done! Thank you.
❤
One of my favorite vids you’ve made. What a resilient man!
Steve Kerr as a jailblazer sounds hilarious
Even in that picture he looks out of place.
Well put together. Really enjoyed every second of it
Such a underrated player
He earned it, respect.
Love the idea execution and consistency of the new videos❤❤
Please keep doing what you are doing. Non stop is one of the best channels on KZhead
He will forever have his mark on this beautiful game💫
How fitting was it for a player from the 72-10 Bulls to later become the coach of a team that went on to have a 73-9 season (full circle moment).
My basketball coach told me when he was in high school his team played against Steve Kerr’s team and Steve Kerr outscored him and his whole team 🤣 at that point I realized these guys are beyond our level of competition. This man was and is the truth even if he’s coming off the bench.
The talent gap is outrageous. I went to school with Chandler Parsons. I seen him in the gym I said let's play 1 on 1. He said I'll do you a favor and let you start with the ball. He beat me 7-0. Fadeaways, fallaways, off hand layups. You only realize the talent gap when it's too late. 😅
Nets fan here. I can't answer the question of this video but I can tell you that in the finals vs the Spurs, Steve Kerr ripped out our hearts over and over again.
wow I didnt know that ,,,
i still can't believe he named his son Nick

Keep this series up it’s. Very entertaining
From watching and being young. The amazing and untold thing is how he was so consistent in his role while not seeing the ball for minutes on end. That in itself is extraordinary. Amazing player, underrated drive and perfect fit. Untold story really how he stayed ready always!
Such a great video. It has some sadness in it but a well video to watch . Any true basketball lover will cherish this. Thank you
I was in a gym in Chicago when Steve played for the bulls. He came in. All these guys were lining up to play him one on one. Everyone though he could only shoot. He was breaking their ankles, blocking their shots, and ripping the ball from them on D.

ONE OF MY HEROES NO DOUBT! WHAT A GUY AND CHAMP! CANT WAIT TO MEET HIM!
I grew up watching Steve Kerr play, he was the beast for his time and size. Jordan and Pippen wouldn't have won all those championships without him.
Steve has always been one of my biggest role models. A fantastic competitor and person!

You don’t know how long I waited for this.
Can't believe he's been a part of 3 dynasties. Having a good 3point percentage will always have you a good spot in the league.
I was really hoping you guys would make this video

I love Coach Kerr from Philippines 🇵🇭
Always like Steve Kerr bit definitely have a new respect for him now
Holy crap, I never knew that about his dad! Wow this was an amazing story! I had no idea and I grew up watching him play.
Great Video, well done!
Damn Look at Kerr man,So Inspirational!
This was incredibly done. Great video. I'd argue his career was full of both skill and luck. He's been in some of the best positions a player and coach could dream of. Played on absolute stacked teams with the Bulls and Spurs then inherited a goldmine in Golden State from Mark Jackson
He inherited a very underachieving team. He made the Warriors what they are. Stop with the Mark Jackson crap already.
@@petep5207 obviously, he got them over the hump but you’re a damn fool if you don’t believe he was dealt a winning hand
I only watched him in the 5 years he was with Chicago and he was an extremely valuable role player who played around 23 minutes, only got about 6 shots per game and averaged 8 points and 2 assists. What's amazing is he has the all time highest 3 point percentage in the history of the NBA (45.4%) despite only taking 1.7 of them per game on average for his career. He never got any chance to get into any sort of a rhythm.
This made me cry 😢no cap iv been inspired
someone can say "but kerr shoots very few 3p, Curry shots 7 per game" Yeah, but YOU HAVE TO NAIL those few and Kerr was very efficient at nailing 3s
That’s not even the main reason the %s are different
Curry said the same thing. It's different sinking in a shot no one expects VS. Not being able to afford missing a shot everyone expects to go in
Steve Kerr was an incredible shooter, one of the greats. But, I feel like people are forgetting the NBA shortened the three-point line back in the 1990s. When the NBA shortened the three-point line from 1994-1995 to 1996-1997, everybody's 3 PTS efficiency went to the roof... In those three NBA seasons, Kerr made 321 shots of his 644 attempts : an efficiency of 49.8%. On regular three point attempts, Kerr managed to convert 405 of his 955 shots; which means he was shooting 42.4% from downtown! Still incredible. But, Curry on regular threes is sitting at 42.7% while taking unbelievably difficult shots.
you practice under the parameters you're given, so i imagine Kerr would have a higher efficiency from the deeper 3 point line if it was as significant during his career. I would also consider that you could block in the paint and still contest the 3 easier if the line was shorter as a defender... so defense was more simplified too... just some thoughts, curry is obviously amazing@@david.tousignant20
Curry makes his own shot over three and Steve Kerr is a spot up shooter
Dunno about the 5" call between Kerr and Jordan haha enjoyed the entire video, well put together.
Jordan's 6'6. Kerr 6'3. Not sure where he got 5".
Thanks for sharing SK journey👏👏👏New sub here...
He will forever have his mark on this beautiful game
As a Spurs fan, I love me some Steve Kerr.
That was so real it made me cry I respect Steve kerr 😢🫡
Very clever in game. Humble, hard worker, and I think playing along with MJ helped him improve and acquire much self confidence in his own skills, leading him to big shots as vs Jazz as mentioned in this video. I have always loved him, just as I loved BJ Armstrong or J Paxon : excellent shooters, devoted to the team and hard work, shadow actors of great stories. I have never doubt his talent as a player, but his amazing success as a coach surprised me. It proofs once more how clever and smart he is about the game.
I like this kind of editing! I got you!
Steve Kerr would be an all-star level player in this era with all the high volume shooting and high paced offense.
He is a legend here in Tucson with the older crowd.
There are a lot of nba teams right now who could use someone like Steve Kerr in their roster, would teach them so much about humility and hard work and playing the role for the betterment of the team.
Out of Topic, Steve looked so old back in the 1990s, but he hadn't changed one bit. Now he looks young AF🤣
solid role player when he played in the league. superstar coach when he led the warriors to that decent run they had.
Great Shooter! one of the most accurate and spot on shooter!
This was epic. I remember it like yesterday.
watching Steve Kerr play its no wonder he and Jordan got into it during practice. Steve was scrappy and a dawg on the court ❤
Steve was/is one of the best basketball professionals of all time and a tremendous human being with an incredible life story. A wonderful role model. 😊
great video. kerr is the man
Steve Kerr!! Great movie about a NBA great! I wouldn't call him an unsung hero, I mean, everyone has seen Golden State play by now, and he surely gets a lot of credit, but maybe he doesn't get enough credit(?)...Great player, and an even greater coach, son, and excellent father, just like his own father. I'm sure people are gonna be blown away by this documentary like I was.
Steve K. as a player was the epitome of a specialist. He was a deep 3 point pure shooting threat that was called upon as needed and he delivered the goods.
Steve Kerr was and is that man!
Great video.
This man is a Winner indeed!!!!
Key piece in the Bulls Dynasty, one of the greatest coaches in NBA history. Hes won 9 championships. 72 win season as a player, 73 win season as a coach. It really shouldn't be a debate
I watched a lot of 90’s bulls games as Jordan was my idol. I can remember Kerr being a huge part of the championship’s. he was so clutch and a great 3rd option when Jordan and scottie Pippen were covered!! If the bulls never had Kerr I don’t know if they have the same amount of rings!!!
I never thought steve kerr would be this awesome
Steve Kerr is the prime example of talent meet's luck👍👍💯💯

got goose bumps bro
Remember him at UA when I was a much younger man- when he made a shot the place would erupt- "STEEEEEEEVE KERRRRRRRR!!!"- miss those days
8:42... other than saying that the 6'3" Kerr is five inches shorter than the 6'6" MJ, this was an awesome video!
Steve Kerr was the man.
Steve Kerr is a GOAT on Championship ❤
I’m just so happy for Steve Kerr ! Haven’t watched nba in years but I def grew up Chicago bulls era and Steve Kerr just one of that nice guy who you never hear anything bad ever . I was bummed about Scottie trash talking about Jordan through the years bc you never pictured Scottie as that type of person . Steve was also in the shadow of pippen n Jordan but he never cares . There absolutely nothing wrong being in shadow someone better than you bc it make you become comparative n bring the best out of u
Really good .Deadly clutch.
All 90s Bulls fan can be proud of him.
Kerr is the greatest player/coach of all time.
So underrated as a player
He was also great at defense. He was pretty good at steals but where he excelled was pressuring the ball handler. He was underrated as a player. In my opinion if he had the right situation to be a starter with a solid PF he would be viewed similarly to Nash and Stockton.
He was a deadly open shooter. Had to shoot with his feet set. Shot mainly on kick outs. Point guard size, but no point guard handles, therefore he was mostly used as an undersized guard from the bench. Great competitor, high basketball IQ. Clutch too.
Great video
Kerr's three point percentage throughout his career is insane. Even in today's NBA of high volume three point shooting, Kerr's record would be so hard to beat.
steve kerr was good, i remember reading about him in 2003 when he was retiring in a magazine featuring his legacy. The pre-teen me was like wow, you don't need anything fancy to be good.
He is the real best shooter NBA has ever seen.
