  • One of the places I used to fish a lot had a wharf complex that was attached to a fish market. There were a resident pair of huge rays about 6-8 feet across that just tooled up and down all day snagging scraps people would throw to them. One night some 'hero' came down and caught one of them and left it to die on the beach after cutting the tail off. The worst part about it was that they mate for life, so 3 days later the other one beached itself overnight and also died. I'm all for catching a fish, but that sort of thing bugs the hell out of me, to put it politely. Catching such a creature to prove your 'manhood' or whatever the person was thinking, is messed up. It was good to see you handle the ray with some care and return it as unharmed as possible, just as you always do.

  • That stingray is the best bait. You can also fish that catwalk by the bridge or of you have a kayak go to the left where you were fishing and there is a nice beach there. Caught so many Goliath’s and bull sharks there

  • EPIC that was awesome! & I like the flashlight by the way. From the start of the video seeing the location and it being at night I thought you clearly were going after a sea monster, and too me a stingray is pretty much just that. You're right someone had removed the barb and that was big ray nicely done. Great video

  • I hooked one bigger than that at Bailey Bridge, Lynn Haven Fl. a couple years ago. After it tired I was walking it along the bridge to the end where I could pull the hook. Bull shark came in and took most of it's flap, then it returned, or another one, and got the other side. I just cut my line and ended it. Tax man shows up to often. City Marina there was one around for a couple of years without a tail. Easily that size. Don't know if a man or shark got the tail but it didn't seem bothered much without it.
