  • Growing up, my sister and I didn't want for anything. We had clean clothes, a roof over our heads, and food to eat. Our parents, however, struggled throughout their childhoods. My mother lived with her grandmother and at one point, they were so low on money that all they had to eat was a head of lettuce split three ways. My dad grew up having to use an outhouse to go to the bathroom. They taught my sister and I to be appreciative for everything that we have and I am. I have an apartment to live in, a vehicle to get around in, and a job that I really love. I also have an amazing and loving family. That's more than some people have.
