Finally a base s23 review. I'm only seeing Samsung s23 ultra reviews on KZhead. Thanks GSMarena
The flat screen and shape of the s23 is so much nicer than the ultra
Incorrect - S22 Ultra is effectively the Galxay Note 22, which is objectivity the best phone model (Note user since the Note 1). Also, science tells use that Note users are also more attractive with 'ultra' large Penises.
No
I very much prefer flat screen too. The base S23 is my preferred option.
What about the battery?? I have s22
s23 and 23 plus looks very much like a midrange samsung phone whereas ultra looks very premium
I already have the S23, super happy with it, TSMC fabbed SD 8 Gen 2 makes all the difference
The battery? Big deference from s22?
I have a Snapdragon S22 and the battery doesn't last the day. Need to charge about 6 pm. I'm not a power user, use it to watch videos, listen to music via Bluetooth, browse the web and messaging apps. Occasionally take some photos.
@@wolf-vf3le No prolem at all! My s23 lasts about 1 1/2 to 2 days!
@@lukasnestler1996 it has to do also with the use of course... I have the s22 all day and it needs 2 times of charging.. Exynos 2200
Me too. Switched from s22+ to galaxy s23 since i didnt like the size. Battery life feels even better than the s22+ giving me good screen on time of atleast 5 hours. But the main difference and improvement is in the standby battery drain which has reduced greatly compared to my s22+.
compact, very very compact. I truly want one .. Powerful at gaming and camera. Seeing that clear display without notch is just perfect
Is there 512 version?
Not for the base S23
There's a 512gb version available here in S. Korea, getting mine Tuesday
In the USA it's only 128 or 256 for the standard s and 256 or 512 for the plus and 256 or 512 or 1T for the ultra
Finally, a review that explicitly states no macro. That was the deciding factor for me, I don’t need macro for anything but I use it enough that it’s important to have.
I have the S23 now for 8 days and the battery life is so good, very impressed with it. It does not fast charge like the oppo for instance but it does not matter as You can do the whole Day with the battery. Overall it is very fast en even I am not a huge Samsung fan due to the S21 had very poor battery life they did a very good job with this one. Love the Phone.
That's the one thing I was worried about. Are you using 60hz constantly or dynamic refresh rate? Cheers
@@ayushsevak916 I use everything 120hertz Bluetooth play asphalt 9 listen music and the battery life is Just amazing. No battery stress for me anymore. Easy the whole Day.
So the battery life is much better compared to s21?
@@pse6775 According to Gsmarena, S21 had 93h battery score, S22 had 85h, while 101h...
I've been charging it to 85% max and i still get through a whole day with 120hz and consistant usage. the battery is good guys trust edit: it doesn't get as hot either even when playing heavy games that was a big issue for me with the s21 fe
2:38 UFS4.0 is likely the most consequential upgrade this year, I'm surprised it's just mentioned as if it's an afterthought. Faster storage will make a bigger difference in the real world for a normal user than anything related to the refresh rate, processor, or chipset that all of the reviews obsess about.
Whenever I want to know if a phone is good, I almost always look for the UFS version if there is even UFS in that phone, the processor, amount of storage and the skin that runs on top of Android. Sadly getting the UFS version is harder than expected. Luckily GSMArena lists it gracefully under the "Memory" section.
i have been wanting to see the read write speeds of s23 :v
Random read and write barely faster than ufs 3.1,4.1 will be the true upgrade.
And you need the 256 GB model for it
also the fact that 4.0 is more efficient..means a better battery life on the 256gigs than 128 gigs
This is probably the first regular S model in years that hasn’t disapointed in any category. I intend to exchange my iphone 11 for it in the near future
im also using iphone 11, but im switchin to s23 regular, i ordered it already, in five days it should come to me
@@vladedivac8916 nice!! If you could give me a feedback about it, I’d be very thankful!
@@kayobazoni8338 i will when its arrive to me
meanwhile im intending to change a70 to s24 next year lol

Short, concise, clear. That's the reason I like this channel 👍🏼
Ikr it feels so empty for some reason lmao
@beef business Who wants to bet that will is lowkey an AI
Waiting for my S23. The increased battery and theSDG2, should make the S23 the perfect size of phone for many!
I was under the impression that the max brightness outdoors was 1750 nits. Great detailed review!
Bought this today with 256 gigabytes, one of the best flagship phones so far and for daily use, thank you for the vid
Always look forward to your reviews! 😎👍
We need review videos to start comparing to models from 2-3 years ago because nobody upgrades from last year's model anymore.
Exactly...No videos comparing S20 or even S21 to S23
My Moto G Power 2020 had issues with wifi calling recently. Verizon gave me $800 credit towards the S23 today. Just had to pay the $15 difference, taxes, activation fee, new case and screen protector and I'm set. Only used the S23 for about an hour so far but it's noticeably quicker. I'm sure I'll like it. I do miss the double swipe for flashlight on the moto g though.
Nah, it's more for people who had old phones but wanted to check if they should buy this year of last year's phone
@@castilloricky85 Fair use case I guess, still would be useful to see how things have progressed over a longer time scale than just the past year.
I got this s23 [original and not the fe] on the 5th of christmas holiday month 2023 to give it a try ~ as i previously had only huawei and samsung smartphones before I tried an iphone 13 in 2021 and thought it was a headache device ~ so i got this in black color and it's been very worth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
I was going to get the Zenfone 9, but since Asus decided not to officially sell or support it in Canada it's out! I'm going to pre-order the S23 next week.
If you want a 5-year phone, Samsung is your go to. You can even extend the life of your phone afterwards by using LineageOS ☺️ That, I say is eco-friendly.
How
I've used my redmi note 5 for over 5 years now using LIneage. Will be upgrading to the s23, expecting to use it for even more time lol
Hope the green lines won't appear after a few years! Planning to keep my S23 for 3 years+
There is no LineageoS for newer Samsung phones as they are hard to get rooot
@@Bischarch Having the phone on high brightness causes burn in on phones. As long as you're not on full brightness all the time you'll be fine :)
I just picked this up!!!!! I am in love and for 85 a month it's worth it time to fiddle got this instead of the Samsung a15!!!! I love my new Samsung galaxy!!!! My first time using a galaxy and three sets of camera got a case and screen protector it is so worth it!!!!!
Got this S23 256gb for same price as Xiaomi 13 256gb in my country! My very first ever flagship phone! So good! I will keep it for 3 years+ . By the way here is my choices for compact phones around same price S23 Zenfone 10 Xiaomi 13 Iphone 12 Pixel 7 Sony Xperia 5 iv
I am no the fence now. I want to downscale from my Fold 3 to the S23 but I think I might wait for the S24 as it is not that far away and my Fold haven't become a prominent issue yet.
this s23 smartphone has the coolest style to the s series.i like how it isnt bezeless with it's cool front design and the back cameras look as a high end finish with the rest of it's back part design.
Yeah I've had my phone for 4 years now, I think this is the perfect phone to upgrade to (coming from an S9) There are so few good compact phones nowadays
I am upgrade s9 to this tooo. Hopefully worth it.
Think about s23 plus
Same. Upgrading from S9+ (battery is like 40% now as it was originally). Already preordered S23 256 Graphite gray. Prob gonna go with Spigen Ultra Hybrid case ..
S8 user here, just bought a 256Gb S23 (standard version)!
I had the S9, beautiful thin phone9
I'm an iPhone user (I have the 3 year old 11 pro), and the S23 looks amazing.
Thanks for this review ☺️ so insightful
I love this minimalistic design...
thank you so much for making a review on the standard s23. all ive been able to find is reviews for the ultra but i just want a small phone again
Thanks for the review! (My man, that looks like you slammed the door on your thumb, ouch)
Thanks for the thorough yet succinct review. More importantly, how is your thumb doing?
Good review thank you
this will sell well. especially thanks to the much improved battery
Leaked pre-orders suggest sales are awful. Most people are buying the S23U.
@@andyH_England well, that is expected. People want huge phones and the best of the best.
to bad it has slow charging.
Pre-ordered my S23 base with 256 GB Storage. I'm stoked!
Pre-ordered mine yesterday. Can't wait for it to arrive!
67k for 256gb model right?
@@khatrii 57k. but promo in moa, pay for 128 get 256. :)
Do you like it?
Is it worth an upgrade from a note 20 to an s23?
Been thinking to upgrade from S9+ to a new phone but cannot decide between S20FE and S23?
Someday i will buy this phone, im so inlove with this.., specially the color and size.
Where did you get the bookshelf in the back of your video?? I can’t wait to get my S23+ in a week!!!!
Thanks so much for the video! Could you please let me know if the galaxy S23 has dual sim slot for sure in the UK? If it has a slot for two physical nano sims, can I use a nano sd card in the slot to expand the storage? Thanks so much in advance! 😊
I think currys or argos states it
Did you do the test with the 128 go version ? would UFS 3.1 have an impact on battery life?
The ssd is 2x slower on 128GB definitely buy 256GB! Don’t go cheap
Is there an option to make the shadows in low light brighter than it already is with night mode?
You guys are the only one that I watch when it comes to smartphone reviews. Keep it up and more power!
why not ?!
same here, I do miss Angie though.. ;)
Any heating issues while using maps, youtube and social media separately?
Love you 💝❣️ GSMArena
Please review s23 plus too
Ooh guys, yolu are awesome. Thanks from🇹🇷
How about the battery performance? Its sufficient to reach the end of the day without charge?
Yes according to my use with s23.
If you have less than 6hrs SOT, you should make it through 18 hours. But if you are on 5G outdoors for much of the day then def not.
what's the name of the skiteboard game in 3:55
Planned obsolescence. 8 GB of RAM was standard for 2018 flagship phones.
What are the games he's playing on the video? The NBA and the skating ones?
One suggestion. Try to add some emotion(intonation) to your voice. It will drastically improve the connection. I have been observing you for so long. Reply me to know more.
@gsmarena - are the thermals better on the S23+ as compared to the S23? Response is much appreciated. TIA. 🙏😊
That intersection looks very familiar! I saw it on screen before.
Some people care more about performance and battery life. They should definitely upgrade to the s23 series
What games is it ?the racing one just before asphalt 9 Looks great
I like what I'm seeing so far. How was the battery life of this phone? I know that was a main concern for the S22.
Every phone camera test has the same buildings, so how do you know? I looked on the review for the s21 all-terrain the same camera this is a scam
Had the s23 ultra for almost 8 months, sold to a photographer friend, and got me a s21 fe 8Gb exynos version. It is a good phone, better than a54 IMO, but now waiting for the s23 vanilla, got a little tired of having huge and heavy phones. I miss the s10e/iphone 11 size. It's a pity that only Asus have 5.8 inches around.
Hope you got the Snapdragon model. I bought mine on Ebay brand new and it's way better than exynos.
For the camera did you have scene optimizer on or off?
S22 here, I'm going s23 for the better chip and battery. I'm keeping my s22 as a back up, sold my pixel to help cover some of the cost. Phones are about the only thing i spend my money on.
How am I able to watch you guys videos on minimized mode on KZhead but not others?
I love the design. So simple & elegant
Great job! Thank you for the review.. I think this one is for me
great review yeah
Please do a comparison of s23 with one plus 11. Both are of the same price and it would interesting to know which one is better
I have a question I would like to switch from iPhone to Android and I have my concerns. I once bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 and had the problem that, the picture and sound were asynchronous on KZheadfor example. Afterwards I did some research and found out that this problem can also occur with the smartphones of Samsung so I would like to ask if these problems also occur with the Samsung S 23. On youtube are videos audio sync test Videos could you please test your device?
Can’t decide if I should go back to Samsung or get another iPhone
How does adaptive brightness work? Is it reliable? Because, for example, AB in my A52s is absolute trash so I turned it off.
Any idea if aliis ai I'd being used? There was an article I read and sounded cool
Thanks!
such an amazing phone hope I can afford it one day
Hi... I am big fan gsmarena S23 plus review
Dear Team .. Please review soon on S22 plus and S 23 Ultra
Hi. I have the S23 ultra and believe it or not but I'm thinking of selling it to get the vanilla. The Ultra is just too big and heavy. It does have good sound though both speakers and headphones. Can you let me know what you think about the sound from the base S23? Thank you.
Sound is amazing and loud. Crisp with no distortion. It's honestly the Samsung's version of the iPhone. It's my daily driver.
NICE!! I'm saving up for a 630$ PC after I buy it, I was planning in saving up for the s22 but the battery life is bad, and the plus and the plus and ultra are overpriced and I don't have patience 😅. So this has a little big battery so might save up for this. Trading in a A52 5G for it.
Hey can someone help me get an answer here. I noticed that on the sides (not talking about the from or back), there is like a plastic film. Am I supposed to take that off because I messed with it earlier and it came off a little bit. Thanks!
I personally got the s23 because the size of the screen is perfect for me and the space and ram is perfect too I didn't want to spend over $1k for a phone its not worth it in my opinion
It is over 1k 😂 huh
@@KoalaBeer. You can get one for $500 used
Considering buying this. Coming from iphone SE from 2016 so it's an okay step up I would say :-)
Go for it, you will love it!
Hello Sir! I want to buy a new phone around 55k!! My priorities are Display, Battery and camera?? My three choices are Moto edge 30 ultra vs Samsung s 23 (After Buyback) and Google pixel 7 ?? Ya I should wait for Moto edge 40 pro??
may sound weird but I kinda liked the camera bump in s21 and s22. this design makes it look like an A series phone
Exactly
Agree.
true this looks boring
I too liked the design of S22. But what i feel is when i put on a case, the S23's design will suit it much better.
Until you see it in person. You'll immediately notice the difference in material quality.
s22 vs s23 battery drain test in standard as well as light performance profile please.
Please do a S23 Vs iPhone 14
How about s21 ultra vs the standard s23. Which has a better quality camera for videos and pictures?
Thank you for the review. here is in my country s23 is in pre order, and pixel 7 is not official. I (almost) prefer pixel 7, but the benefit to buy s23 in pre order is a very good deal (double storage), and benefit update android 4x, while pixel only 3x. Both in a same price now pixel 7 in 128GB and s23 in 256GB. (pre order). Is there features in s23 make the photos more natural like pixel 7? I prefer natural camera. and what is the disadvantage features to use pixel in not available country ? Is auto focus bug in front camera pixel 7 resolved now? What about video stabilization? which one is better? Im the type to use phone in long term. let me know your opinion please.
Which phone did you get? If you like the pixel's pictures, you can use Gcam mod.
Try capturing any text document pic / close up shots of food etc, you will notice banana shape blur (top mid portion in vertical shots and leftside in landscape shots). Then if you don't regret buying S23, you don't really care about the major defect
I'm just here to watch something I want but cannot afford. Cheers!
Got mine today $400 USD Samsung boxing sale . Great price
Design is the most important part of S23 and S23+ for me. Looks awesome!
I currently own an iPhone 13 Pro, S22 Ultra, and S20. The S20 is my most used phone due to it's compact size and ease of one-handed use (avid reader). While I love the "latest and greatest" features of the other two phones, I use them sparingly and I'm always excited to pick up the S20. I currently have the S23 preordered and if its as good as I'm hoping it to be in terms of battery life and efficiency, I fear I may never use my S22 Ultra again.
IPhone 13 mini?
The S20 is a legendary phone! Has been my favorite S phone thus far despite owning the S22!
@Rong626 honestly if it had 120hz and a slightly bigger battery it would be the perfect phone for me.
Wtf.. why? Like how does this even make sense.. just why? I mean, you do you, to each their own, etc. but why? Do you need 9 different phones or is it just like having 4 cars in the garage to choose from. So weird.
@@sshah2545 It's normal to have more than 1 phone, or even 3. It's not weird at all. Do you have 1 phone only?
I am confused which one better to buy this time. Samsung S23 ora Asus Zenfone 9 I am a little bit worry about the battery on S23. I heard Zenfone 9's battery is amazing, but they only give 2 years update. Need some advice please
S23 eye's closed
It would be a shame to see the plus model discontinued. They need to bump up the spec for the price jump besides better battery and screen otherwise they need to keep the line up. Only problem is that pixel 7 pro is cheaper and better
true this..m really don't get the market for plus..but the small s23 and ultra make sense
The S23 pre-orders are similar to the S23+, so if they cancel the S23+, then the S23 may also be in trouble.
Bro, I bought a new s23. Should i buy a new charger from samsung or can i use the my redmi note 11 34 watt charger is it safe to charge the s23 phone?. Pls someone reply
Hello, I checked both of your videos. S23 and Xiaomi 13. Planning to buy one of them, but cannot choose :( My most important aspects are: - quality of the daylight & indoor photos - reliability - on time security and software updates - gaming, charging speed, Miui or Oneui not important Considering these facts, which one do you suggest? I most like the Xiaomi 13 size, but I think the photos are better with S23 right?
S23 destroys the xiaomi 13
@@LAMB-CHOPPY-CHOPPY Hi. I ordered the S23, but I am afraid from the pictures will be worse than Xiaomi 13. When I had the Xiaomi 11, it took better pictures than the S22, when I compared it to my friend"s S22. Interesting...
please make a zenfone 9 comparison video
I'll take the S23 anytime over it's bigger Ultra sibling simply because of it's compact size.
7:58 this angle shows exactly what I don't like about this design, it looks too flashy (see the rings around the cameras and the border of the phone)
Nice review thank you
great phone in almost everything, but... try to photograph a text page and I'm afraid you will notice focus problems in some places (so it was in my S22!). the same photo with an old S7 and a new galaxy tab S8 plus are perfectly in focus on the whole page. try to verify. I repeat, main cam and photo of a simple text ..... anomalous focus of some areas, very annoying. The problem was known on S22 and I find it on my S23,... which I will perhaps return.
that was important the battery improved. it went backwards in the s22 from the s21 which was strange.
I have the S21 Exynos version and the battery life is terrible....so the S22 was even worse, oh dear.
I got a UPS tracking number today for my S23+ 512GB from T-Mobile 😱!!!
Shame they cancelled the sd card slot & the headphones slot
Does anybody know if you can skip an android os upgrade and go to the next one when it is available? I currently have android 12 and I dont find android 13 to be much of a significant upgrade.
Yes you can do that.
@@KoalaBeer.But Samsung promises 5 years of security patches.
The price was the main killer, it's just too expensive The search for the perfect smaller phone to change to is still ongoing 😭
I agree
Most carriers doing trade-ins and zero down financing, it's pretty much a no brainer.
Pixel 7a in winter should be around 300€
