47 Ronin | Keanu Reeves Battles a Kirin

2019 ж. 13 Қар.
3 445 767 Рет қаралды

Kai (Keanu Reeves) takes on the Kirin-a mythical horned beast-with just a sword.
Keanu Reeves stars in the 3D action-adventure epic 47 Ronin. After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and reclaim their honor. This band of ronin must seek help from Kai (Reeves)-an enslaved half-breed they once rejected-in their ultimate fight for redemption in a savage world of mythic and wondrous terrors. Kai becomes their most deadly weapon and the heroic inspiration for these outnumbered warriors to confront their enemy and seize eternity.

  • Cool Fact: According to Japanese mythology, the appearance of a Kirin is said to herald the death or passing of a ruler. So this scene wasn't just a nifty action piece showing off Kai's skills - it was also foreshadowing the events to come.

    • @@applepie4287 I looked up "Qirin" on wikipedia, 'cuz I wanted to see if the monster design was something they made up just for the movie. Turns out it's reasonably close to ancient drawings. As for Japanese vs Chinese... when you go far enough back, it's the same civilization & myths.

    • @@pizzaman5169 ..."seems dumb af" most Japanese in Japan felt the same way ferise1 does as expressed in very poor box office sales. And that was the prelude to world wide poor box offices declaring this version of 47 Ronin a Hollywood flop. You're in the minority of people who did enjoy this version, but not enough to make it box office success. If this was a total fiction instead of being based on a Japanese beloved historical event it might have done better. For example, if it was a total fiction crafted from a non-Japanese perspective ( the Yokai was expressed in non-Japanese terms) the final scene of the Ronin committing seppuku could be avoided. From what I heard that was the most unsettling scene for most non-Japanese. A happy ending just might have made this version a box office success

    • @@normanlee6609 It's just a movie. Of course there is a lot of fantasy, magic & demons in a movie like this. There are thousands of movies made just like this & it's been going on for decades. They take a true story & make a movie out of it & they use "poetic license" of sorts to embellish the story to make it more interesting because using just the true story would be boring. Have you seen the original B&W 1941 version & also a 1994 version?? People need to learn to just sit & watch a movie, any movie, strictly for enjoyment & when they've watched, they either like it or they don't. Picking up on real mistakes, like like someone in a scene wearing sneakers or a cowboy hat. When there is fantasy, just sit back & enjoy it. Movies like Avatar or Star Wars are fantasy, but nearly everyone liked them. In essence, watch what you like because your own opinion is all that matters.

      @pizzaman5169@pizzaman51693 жыл бұрын
    • @@pizzaman5169 ....yes, I have the pleasure of seeing both the AD1941 and the AD1994 versions and enjoyed both. Both express the Japanese mindset well. So you think they're boring? If you personally think so.....OK. As you enjoyed the 2013 version there are those who do not share your opinion. And you are correct that one's own opinion is all that matters which is why I wonder why you need to justify why you enjoy this movie and criticize others who disagree with you, whatever their individual criteria is. If you are truly secure in your opinion then as you claim opposing opinions are irrelevant. Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations yields Truth and Beauty.

  • Some Japanese soldiers in this scene are confused with China and Mongolia. It is a hybrid warrior whose costume is China and weapons are Japan.The manner is also strange ... This movie is entertainment and should not be seen as a Japanese history.

    • @@tekmon2640 Yes, of course, much of Japanese culture is based on technology from the continent. I am Japanese and have learned a lot of history. But the soldiers in this movie are wrong. The soldier's leather and cloth armor in this movie is likely modeled after those used in the Mongolian Empire. This form of leather and cloth armor is not used in medieval Japan.

      @rinrinzemi@rinrinzemi4 жыл бұрын
    • @@tekmon2640 ...which is one of many reasons this movie is bad. The legend of the 47 Ronin is historical but the visual details are an American interpretation of what they think is Japanese. This movie is a American effort of a live action sword/fantasy anime with a slight reference to the actual historical events.
