  • Someone should be charged with collecting the women's gum shields as soon as the fight is over - or at least reminding them to remove them. They look so ugly with those things in their mouths.

    • Someone should be charged with reminding you that they aren't there to be sexy for you. They are there to fight.

    • @@InvictaFightingChampionships Not for me. For themselves. For their grandchildren. The fighters go to considerable lengths to look good - sexy even - at the weigh-in, as do Beyonce and Taylor Smith on stage, as did the Williams sisters on the tennis court. Why? Aren't they there to be weighed, to sing, to play tennis? Yes, but they want to look good at the same time, because that's human nature. The motivation of some fighters, perhaps, is purely sadistic; they're just there because they like hurting other people; but for most, I'm sure, it's more complex than that. They also want to express themselves - show off their skill, their coordination, their courage, their determination - and also to entertain, and looking good is part of all that. There's no reason, when the fight's over and one woman's arm is raised, for her still to be wearing a gum shield. That's the picture she's going to be showing her grandchildren. She won't want them thinking: "when granny was younger, she looked like an orangutan". Men are no different. Trump may be an old man (and look like an orangutan) but how many hours must he spend each week teasing those last few remaining hairs into shape to conceal his baldness.

    • Someone needs to remind you to touch grass. This is a combat sport not a beauty pageant.
