  • So do you guys have a deal with a pizza joint to sell an FT special? Large pizza with a bottle of water or pop and the box pre-printed with the template. Instead of dessert the electronics, props, etc. would come with the meal. Families could skip the movie and make the plane as an after dinner activity. Friday night dinner becomes a Saturday morning outing. More pilots in the house equals more pizzas sold.

  • Tiled prints would be great. BUT I opened this in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and used the Poster print setting to get them tiled. I guess it is the right scale, maybe some dimentions on the plans would be good too. About the CG.... Josh said that he scaled down the FT Mini Arrow. So given that the Arrow wingspan is 30.5" (775mm) and the CG is about 6.7"(170mm) from the tip of the plane. With a pizza box plane wingspan of roughly 22"(560mm), then the CG should roughly be 5" (126mm) from the tip. (correct me if I'm wrong) EDIT: So I just superimposed the FT Mini Arrow plans over the FT Slice (AKA pizza box plane) using photoshop. The CG looks to be about 5" (126mm) from the tip. {I previously said 4.55"(116mm) which I guess would be more stable. This error came from the tile #8 cutting off 1cm from the tip that is added back in on tile #4. lol. Oops.}

    • D S I hear this question a lot so I think I’m going to answer it here just for fun, though by now you would’ve clearly solve this problem for yourself. Take the prop off and find your own CG using a glide test. Move your battery back-and-forth until when released from the top of a “glide” (i.e. over your head while you run or tossed back-and-forth with a friend) it makes a nice relatively flat glide down to the ground. From their use your choice of ways to find where the plane balances front to back and mark that spot on the underside of your wing. I recommend that you also mark where are you selected to put the battery so that you can do quick changes in the field in that shift your CG. Your plane should now fly. Planes with the CG too far forward don’t takeoff. Planes with the CG too far aft take off only once. The rest of CG is all niceties for us hobbyists. Cheers!
