    • I don't have a bandsaw, so I have to take them apart by hand. Of course this is an industrial operation and they use a bandsaw and throw away the little scraps. Note that they still have to take them apart partially by hand, but the bandsaw saves time.

  • It is good to see people use things like old pallets to make beautiful things instead of buying new wood . As far as I have seen from wood pallet projects there is nothing wrong with this wood and it is better to make something with it instead of cutting down more trees and I am sure the satisfaction people get making beautiful things from these palettes is very rewarding.

  • My husband used to work in a shop where they made cam shafts and he'd disassemble the crates and bring the wood home. We made a small fence in the front and back of our yard in a mobile home park with the wood. We even got "Best yard in the park" because of it.

  • My best friend who owned an acre plot in a wealthy neighbor neigborhood, worked at an industrial manufacturing warehouse where he got to take home as many free pallets home with him as he liked. And as it was, they had plenty of pallets to go around. So after he fenced in his lot, he set up some big tents on the property to house the pallets and he hired laborers and gave them all the safety equipement they would need on top of giving them tools designed to break down pallets. And he offered them a tent with cots to sleep on, a propain water heater set on low so no one got burned. He brought budget food that they prefered and a Colman two burner stove. It was a total campsite. He told them to keep it down at night so the neighbors don't call the cops. But they did anyway. But as soon as the cops saw the tents and the pallets, the tables, and the pallets they new they weren't tresspasser. The cops talked to my friend and all was ok. In 3 weeks time, there was enough wood to build two houses even though the planks were too short. However, then every night before going home, he would use a planer and a finger joiner and before gluing up the boards he heat treated the lumber so that it would never rot and or be eaten by "any" bug. So after the glue up he planed the 2. 25 X 5" wide sections of wood down to exactly 2"X4" rough cut, which is exactly how he wanted it. With a laborer, he was done in 6 weeks, saving himself $18,000 in lumber costs for a 2k sq ft main house and a 100 sq ft rental in the back.

School’s usually look down on those teachers because the system will says students attended to their class but was absent for the whole day. Turns out most students went to the class to learn then left the school😂. I was put in Autobody and the Instructor had a past of poverty, gangs, and also it was hard for him to learn but he still accomplished getting a doctrine in automotive and teaching. Also let me say he’s one of the best teachers that made me admire what I considered an actual teacher. • Growing up I worked at same place my dad did that installed flooring and ceilings. The floor tile pallet was only 3x4. The top was solid strips with no gaps, like these. I used to take them out of pile by dumpster ad rhey would just throw them away. (1970's). Sold them all thru high school and after. Parents loved them for shed storage and such. I sold to many people my age then, 18-25 for furniture. They would use them as a bed base then put a mattress on top. Also as a couch base. They would cover with masonite and then bean bags. A few broke them down like you and make stereo stands and book shelves with the white decorative blocks. I had mine until my future wife vetoed them when we moved in together. Sadly, neither are still around. Sure miss those blocks.
