  • Yeah buddy another great bait to mimic a cicada that people don’t throw much anymore is the old jitterbug, people have forgotten about it but it still an absolute hammer of a lure!!

    • Yes sir absolutely. I refurbish old and tired Hula Popper and Jitterbug lures. Clean the gunk, hardware and clean and or replace the treble hooks.

  • Your dad was a very wise man who raised a very informative, knowledgeable, and hell of a bass fisherman!! I'm getting ready for my 1st (due to flooding here in Ohio) Saturday club tourney of the year and have a lizard 🦎, hellgrammite on a ned, munch 40, megabass 110, tube, jig and 2 spinnerbaits!! Man that's too many poles lol Thanks Rudd, I'll fish the lizard today for your pops, love the new channel- Greg W.

  • If you Google where do hellgrammites live, there is no mention hellgrammites live in lakes. Hellgrammites usually live in swiftest sections of large streams and rivers and usually hide under rocks.

    • They will filter in from rivers into “main lake” especially before they metamorphosis into a dobyns fly - I catch most of my bass in rivers on the hellgramite - that being said I live on the TN river system which is fed by river and streams and have had an immense amount of success fish it in the lake.

  • In the coastal lakes of Oregon we have a bunch of toxic salamanders or maybe newts. I'm not sure. They have the run of the lake and the fish won't touch them. If you use a lizard bait on my local lake the fish won't go near it. There must be a scent they don't like. Dragon fly larvae is another good one. They can be found by turning over wood in the shallows.

  • I've spent the end of winter and early spring finishing cicada blanks with custom paint, treble hooks and some feather trailer hooks. Illinois is set to have 2 broods hatch this year and supposedly won't happen for another 221 years? Either way bass here will crush a jar fly as my other Dad from eastern KY used to call them
