Te Puutake O Te Riri is the messenger whose task is to awaken the memory and conscience of a sleeping nation.
Join Tainui Waka host, Rahui Papa (Ngaati Korokii-Kahukura, Waikato) and an impressive array of special guests as we seek to raise critical awareness, personal introspection, intercultural exchange and social transformation. This one hour special broadcast has been produced by host rohe, Tainui Waka, and highlights the importance of this special day dedicated to remembering a sacred legacy, a legacy left in trust to a nation, a legacy unfulfilled.
Graphic novels set the scene as we traverse the landscape of the Tainui Waka rohe to unearth the stories of key tuutohu whenua pakanga (significant battle sites) and their people. From past, to present to the future, all will be exposed from a heartfelt yet critical iwi and hapuu lens.
We will hear from education specialists within the rohe about how these histories will become part of the fabric of this counties education system, as well as an update from Minister Kelvin Davis on where things are at with curriculum roll out.
