    • Great pireneus are not so good against big predators, like some you find in USA. Look to Idaho programm about LGD breed, they replaced the great pireneus very used by usa farmers and gave them 3 dog breed, Kangal, Transmontano Mastiff and Karakachan. The result was, no more lgd killed by wolves etc, the wolf packs left the area where these dogs were operating. I cant share the link here but just search about USA study imported guard dogs.

    • Are you implying a Kangal cannot cross with another breed of dog? They can, they belong to canis familiaris. And possess the same number (38 pairs) of autosomal chromosomes as any other dog breed. To address your response further - a cross bred dog CAN have a Kangal as one parent and a different breed as the other parent. So, as you can see, I have done my research. Thank you and enjoy your enlightenment.

  • People who use these dogs to scare people shouldn’t own them. I hate seeing people get this breed then they do absolutely no training and socializing (obviously not everyone but most) then the dog and breed will get blamed if some bad shit happens. Magically never the humans fault smfh.

    • That’s true, a mistake happened in here. I‘ve recognized it too, but there are also mixed breeds (Kangals+Alabais) they are called Anatolian Shepherd Dog in Turkish „Anadolu Çoban Köpeği”. Look them up, this kind aren’t dogs anymore.

    • @@thegrimreaper270 Don’t worry you don’t have to be Turkish to own a Kangal.😅 But if you really want a pure bloodline, then you should travel to Turkey to Sivas. There are the certified Kangal dog breeders, cause many kinds of them exists. The one with the black and wolf like shaped head are the Sivas Kangals. They are very expensive, some breeders sell them even with 60.000 Turkish liras.

  • Compared to other dog breeds, Kangals are among the breeds that carry the most wolf genes (REAL THOSE). It is very difficult to train because its main purpose is to provide security in the area where it is located. This is why it is completely wrong to call a shepherd dog; The shepherd dogs are waiting at the head of the herd to help the shepherd, but the "KANGAL" usually wanders 1-2 km away from the shepherd's area to ensure environmental safety against wild animals. That's why we Turks call is the "PROTECTION DOG" and that's how it should be called.

    • Absolutely bro. I'm one from Sivas-Tokat. I can say that we brought these dogs alongside with the Cagri, Tugrul Begs after we break of from the Kangar Turkic Union... This is why there is Kangal... And yes. We love wolves and dogs. By training Kangals, we protect all of our livestocks and wolves themselves.
