Yes that 11:20 of control time came in rds 4 and 5, and both those rounds were awarded to Ankalaev. If you don't know that scoring is based off rounds and not overall numbers, you shouldn't be commenting

Jan literally pointed to Ankalaev when the winner was about to be announced, and look at the way Magomed happily got up after the fight was done.. they both knew Ankalaev won that..

Rules say effective offense is king. In the striking rounds, Jan did more damage, which trumps volume per unified rules scoring criteria. R1, R2, R3 Jan, 10-9. R4 and R5 Ankalaev's grappling was far more effective than anything Jan could muster. R4 10-9 Ankalaev, R5 10-8 Ankalaev. The draw was the right decision, even if the scorecards leading to it were a bit strange.

Those leg kicks were BRUTALLL. Was very impressed with the way ankalaev recomposed himself and dominated the last two rounds however I agree with the draw. Nothing really happened in the first round could chalk it up either way, round 2 and three jan kicked the dogshit out of ankalaevs legs he couldn’t even hide the pain he was stumbling wincing and changing stances constantly just to stay alive. 4 and 5 was an impressive comeback and very good ground and pound but the judges got it right with the draw in my opinion. Love this fight

Ankalaev should have been declared the winner; Even Jan Blachowicz shows him as the winner before the announcement ot the score of the last judge. Ankalaev is the champion without the belt. Alex Pereira might be more "bankable" for the television and the pay-per-view.

Imagine if they had trained for a 5 round fight. Or if they had fought the original 3 rounds.
If it was 3 rounds, Ankalaev would’ve lost. But in this 5 rounds fight I saw a clear draw: Blackhowicz takes the first 3, Ankalaev the last two, but the fifth round was 10-8 for Magomed 🤷🏻♂️
