Snowplowing A Foot Of Snow With A Bobcat Toolcat 5600!

What a day...we were not ready for this. We didn't even have a plow on our machine. I had to walk up the driveway, find a plow, try not to get stuck, and then plow the driveway. I also took quite the fall...

  • Try using a bar of paraffin that they use for canning on the plow surface before it gets wet or snow on it. The paraffin is basically wax and the plow will shed the snow and the snow won't stick to it as bad. It only takes 5 minutes to rub the paraffin on the plow and it will work better and save you a lot of work and frustration.

  • The blower would have been the way to go. Leaving high banks will cause drifting and the next time you won't have anywhere to push the snow. I'm likely wrong but this seems like one of those minimum effort and expecting maximum gain situations.

      @thepubliceye@thepubliceye3 ай бұрын
    • Simply for content purposes. The snow blower is the same thing for however long it takes to clear the snow. With a plow you have multiple different scenarios to deal with such as will it push the snow, will the snow push the machine left and right, will it plow up hill, you have power angle to change the direction you push the snow. If I used the blower, all I can change is the direction it throws the snow. People would have watched for a minute and then either fast forwarded or closed the video. As a creator you have to put entertainment before functionality sometimes.

      @StollNCrew@StollNCrew3 ай бұрын
    • @thepubliceye see my response below, but also there's not really a lot of "extra work" to put a Snowblower vs plow. Literally just 2 hydraulic hoses. The machine does the rest itself lol don't even have to get out for anything else

    • @@StollNCrewI’ve never seen any of your other videos, but the original comment above is pretty valid and how we operate our landscape business with preparedness in mind. With 8 plow trucks, 2 toolcats and 3 Volvo loaders. It’d be a great waste of time to have to put the plows, snow blowers or hydraulic brooms on the toolcats before we actually get plowing snow. Don’t worry about your sarcastic reply, this is the last video I’ll be watching of yours. You have a weird way of trying to gain a following and views by talking shit to your viewers. Lol

      @Maddog165@Maddog1652 ай бұрын
    • @Maddog165 that's fine if you don't want to watch any of my other videos. But I will clarify this for you. This video has nothing to do with our company. This is our personal yard. Plowing this driveway makes us no money. We actually lost money from doing this. I made this video simply to see how the toolcat would handle the snow. We have over 20 plow trucks and over 10 wheel loaders for our snow removal company. Those are what make us money. We do not use the toolcats to make us money plowing snow. That's why they are parked at our yard and not at any of our sites. Obviously the toolcats were not set up for the snow. But if you even clicked onto my page you would see that we are more than prepared to plow snow. My response to the above comment may have been a bit sarcastic but it takes less time to click on to my page and see whats going on than it does to type out a negative comment on here. People on the internet seem to think they know everything based off one video. The video posted literally the day before this one shows the type of work we do. We do not do driveways or anything small like that. We do roadways. We are more prepared for snow than anyone has to be. We have entire towns relying on us. Not one person trying to get out of their driveway. The algorithm ran with this video and a lot of people saw it who think this is the type of work we do when it is very far from what we actually do.

  • Those things are totaly useless here in north western ont. You go no were in snow with them even all 4 wheels chained up. They dont have the weight. With regular weekly storm of 6" to 6" 25 to 45 below high winds snow drifts 3 to 7' are rock hard. A 4x4 3/4 ton a huge struggle. Sure maybe a tiny city driveway maybe ok. But even there good luck with the 3 foot high road grader banks an side walk plow banks 3 in a row. These tool cats are just a spruced up UTV. be like trying to pull a full size car out of a 4' deep drifted in ditch with a 1/4 ton 4x4 ford ranger or similer brand. Snow pack on a drive way all winter turns to ice and stay until late April eary may. Also you would never get away having a driveway that norrow here. But mid January you would have no driveway even my 32' wide drive way can be a problem. Have to push the banks down into the ditch at least 2 times every winter. If you dont start the winter off pushing the snow as far back as posable you end up screwed. My 9' wide snow blade rolls the snow over great. The faster you go with blade Fully angled the farther it throws it

You didn't even clear the snow off everything before trying to connect the plow to the front of your vehicle.... how much stuff are you trying to break in one video?? And you definitely don't know how the driveway was paved in piece's which left a lip there. Yes I did hit it, which I could have VERY EASILY edited out of the video. Things happen, and I am not afraid to show them. This machine was on summer tires in a foot of snow. If you think it was going to plow flawlessly then you should come and try it sometime. • Too much "advice" from the backseat drivers in You Tube Land. There's more than two ways to get a job done. RE: Blower vs. Plow - As a teenager I plowed snow in Ontario County NY with a Bolens garden tractor and plow. Never owned a blower [our town highway department didn't own a blower either - neither of us could afford one] and was only snowed in once, with two inches of glare ice under sixteen inches of snow. Now in my sixties I live in PA and have both plows and blowers. IMHO I still prefer plows because I've found blowers tend to break down at the most inopportune times. Haven't had a plow break yet.
