  • Just a little correction on your info. CFMoto never bought the 790 engine from KTM. CFMoto actually make the 790 and 890 engines for the KTM models that use them. KTM just allowed CFMoto to use the 790 engine, as afaik it was a part of the deal when they moved to the 890 engine. Great review as always!

    • And I think if on this nice bike is instead CFMoto a KTM sign on, it would get from many "bike tester" a better rating.

KTM Is still KTM, and is owned by Pierer Mobility AG for about 98% while the rest is Bajaj. what you are talking about is the joint venture of KTM and CFMOTO in China so they can share technologies and would allow CFMOTO to build engines for KTM In China. the joint venture company is called CFMoto-KTMR2R. read and understand things carefully first before you spread them.

  • About comparing other bikes like the Versus to this CF Moto, the problem is a lot of other bikes that I been looking at like the Suzuki V-Strom 800 and the Yamaha T7 do NOT come with Cruise Control. Sorry, Not having Cruise Control is a Deal Breaker. If a Cheapo Chinese manufacturer can put Cruise Contol, Heated Grips, Heated Seat, Quick Sfifters as Standard equipmentat a lower price, and then you have companies like KTM put those features on their bikes and then insult us by charging us an additional $700 to keep those features working after the break-in period. I walked away from two different KTM dealerships here in Florida cause of that BS. (I talked to a mechanic at RideNow Jacksonville Fl. and he told me it only takes him about 15 minutes to plug in the computer to reactivate those features. $700. BS! no sale.)

  • just to point out CFMOTO did not buy the engine, the companies have a joint partnership that the Chinese company owns slightly more than half, they also build the engine in both sizes for KTM, they also have a variation of one of the large V twins, both engines they get to use through the partnership

  • I own one of these and I must say if you tune the suspension it is crazy how it is handling in corners you can just trow it and eat that corner easy! BIG problem with the mapping or fueling! It is snachy on the gas again cuz of the mapping. It is really premium made but I have problems with mine, gear selector started going crazy on a hill or in a turn after you try to shift to second it goes second and just falls back to neutral on its own, quickshiffter is like on 790, has a mind of his own, water found a way some where and it is affecting my computer. Hope all of it will be resolved when it goes to the shop for warranty claim. All in all bike is phenomenal to ride!

  • Here in Australia CFMOTO have commenced software updates to eliminate the surge. At $14500 ride away (without luggage)it is cheap compared to everything else. Norden $25k, New vstrom 1050de $25k. The Veysys 650 is a great bike but off road it is terrible while the CFMOTO is good at basic off road. The best thing is the choice of bikes, not everyone can afford top end and if all bikes were the same then how boring would that be?

  • It seems a bit overpriced to me even if you do get a top box and panniers, pretty hefty too for an 800. Considering the quality of the bikes it's competing with and it's uninspiring ride credentials as reviewed by Scott. If the new V-strom 1050 DE comes in around that price mark with its new dual purpose leanings, I'd see no reason for anyone to buy the CFMoto at all.

    @greywolf9292@greywolf9292 Жыл бұрын
    • the 1050 DE is 15.8 k in Germany, base price, so that makes it 60% more expensive. Also it's 252 kilos now .... jeeez. I am very curios about the revamped v strom 700 that has just been spotted. Some even speculate 800 but that's anybodies guess right now.

Yes the new 700/800? will be interesting to see, as will the rumoured 750 Transalp/Africa Twin. There'll be a massive market for both but will supply meet demand? Unless you pre order upon rumours few bikes now are actually putting rubber on showroom floors. I wanted a new KTM 890 Adventure R but delivery dates were speculative at best. I finally settled for a low milage used model, I specked it up to suit my needs and it wasn't that much more than the CFMoto but is way beyond it in handling, durability and power.

What's ironic is the fact that both Mexico and Canada prohibit imports from countries with forced labor camps while the US has not made such prohibition. And don't forget that these countries also own factories here in the US and sell you their products while skipping out on any tariffs or penalty.
