  • As Ministry of Health my self working in VECTOR unit for some years, i advices u do not underestimate Dengue Fever. This lady might in 1st phase Dengue Fever since Dengue has 4 stages. Once u admitted as stage 4 dengue with serious implication might bring someone to death. So please dont hang out outside the building early sunset with skin exposed outfit since that is the fiercing mosquitos hunting time for blood to suck. And one more thing, Dengue is virus-caused fever and still no cure for this disease yet so far. Only some treatment to lessen pain available.

  • Every dengue case must be reported by the attending physician to the Health Ministry. The Health minister then will send some people to check your house for breeding sites such as vases, pots, water pools etc. Then the condo management will fog the entire building...

    • Save it. much as i hate saying this, shit tons of Malaysians ourselves still can't even speak more than 3 sentences of broken Malay. we can't really ask that of people of foreign origin if so many of our own don't honor that part of being a Malaysian.

However, a foreigner calling oneself "local" shouldn't follow those Malaysian -who only speak broken malay-, he/she (foreigner) should learn a good decent Malay and it will make all the more impressive and extraordinary !. That is a challenge that not many foreigners will undertake unfortunately I believe.

  • i traveled to more than 50 countries and lived in many places and kl was one of them, weather u are muslim or what religion u have or whatever ur ethnicity is there is one thing u have to learn is to respect the law and the culture in the country u live in or visiting. trying to justify ur action and saying u didnt do something wrong that could be in other countries but in that particular country its something against the law. every country has its own law and culture and u have to respect it. what is strange for u is not strange for others and vise versa. for me after traveling to many places nothing is strange for me at all if i can't fit in a place i just leave. thank u for the beautiful interview and saya cinta malaysia :D

  • Wow about Digital Nomad visa in Malaysia sounds interesting! I hope you can interview more Digital Nomads in Malaysia as she said there’s less information about it. Experience when applying, application procedures, way to survey/find accommodation, driving license & ideal locations for remote/IT worker would enlighten people who interested.

  • Actually the Touch and Go stick thing is meant for those who don't want or unable to stretch their hands out to tap their cards on the reader machines. Whether you use the stick or not, the card will work when tapped on the reader.

  • I'm not sure whether she ate in public during Ramadhan or not. For Muslims in Malaysia it's considered a religious crime to eat in public during Ramadhan without any reasonable excuse. But Muslim women usually get away with it because they have a menstrual period which allows them not to fast. But generally in Malaysia even if you have reasonable excuses such as period for women or sickness or gastric or any other illnesses that allows you not to fast or you are a long distance traveller, still people will try not to eat in public out of respect for others who are fasting and also to avoid any misunderstanding with the authority. They usually will buy take aways and just eat in their own private space or home. This only applies for Muslims. For non-Muslims in Malaysia they can eat anywhere anytime anything. But I also observed that most of the non-Muslims in Malaysia will try not to eat in front of their Muslims friends during Ramadhan out of respect. Living in a multiethnic multicultural multireligious country like Malaysia you will develop a form of tolerance, acceptance, compromise and respect for each other.

    • It should be fine. In my opinion the authority has no right to police or tell anyone how to practice their religion. Especially not to a foreigner. Practice love and compassion instead and let anyone eat and drink as they please as we don't know their health or background status or what they had gone through.

    • @@sofiaglove Yes. Compassion should be the main virtue but each country has their own specific cultural practices and law. It's in the religious law of each state in Malaysia that eating in public without any reasonable excuse during Ramadhan is considered a religious crime for Muslims in Malaysia. Once it's encoded within the law it can be enforced by the religious authorities whether you agree with it or not. If you disagree with such laws then it's your responsibility to persuade your MPs or ADUNs to amend such law. Until it is amended, the law stays.

    • Malaysia is a free country, you can do whatever u want as long u not commit a crime. I'm a Malay Muslim but not too religious. In Ramadan me & my friends also eat foods at indoor places. only muslim who are not ashamed to eat at public in the month of Ramadan. many malays muslim also not fully fasting in ramadan. but most of them not eat & drink at public places their all respect each other. malaysia are comfort place in southeast asia. all countries have advantages and disadvantages. but for me malaysia is the best same as singapore. malaysia dont have many strict law like singapore. u can drinking, smoking/vaping at public. peace & love❤

  • Nasi Lemak you can eat without the hot and spicy sauce aka sambal..even small kids can handle if it's just little gravy or fried chicken.. it's subject to the "lauk" you choose..can ask for less spicy ofc..😊

    • I don’t think you need to explain the spiciness and non-spiciness of Nasi Lamak to her. I’m an Asian American that had spent my childhood growing up in south east Asia in the 70s and even I understood the cultural root of Nasi Lamak and its implication in Nanyang. I used to eat them every other day for breakfast in its original banana leaves small package form usually sold by lady carrying a basket. How can anyone says they have become Malaysian and not like Nasi Lamak or too spicy. Oh boy… whatever.

  • As a non speaking English foreigner, i have to learn to speak English, Malay and Cantonese. Most Chinese in Malaysia are not fluent in English or Malay, so it would better to learn Cantonese, Hokkien or Mandarin. Chinese in Ipoh feel comfortable when you speak in Cantonese. This is because Chinese in Malaysia study in Chinese medium school and are not interested in learning other languages. I am catching up in Tamil too.

  • Actually there is another version of nasi lemak which is not hot. You just say "Not hot heh" (tak pedas heh). Usually the nasi lemak seller will ready with 2 types of 'sambal' (greavy), ie 'hot' and 'not hot' (less hot).

  • Although I am a San Francisco native 🌁, I sometimes travel to The Philippines 🇵🇭. Plenty of Filipinos, Chinese, Indians, Indonesians 🇮🇩 , Koreans 🇰🇷 in the Bay Area. Rice 🍚, durian , touch and go - card are easy for Filipinos. 😃 Tea 🍵 in The Philippines 🇵🇭 is not often drunk by its citizens: coffee ☕ is the preferred drink. The Chinese 🇨🇳 and Indians 🇮🇳 are the main tea drinkers there. Durian is the reason Anthony Zimmer cannot become a Malaysian citizen! Or a citizen in another Asian nation! L 🤣 L I hate 😒 the smell. It is like a skunk 🦨 (Note that plenty of skunks live in the Bay Area.) But the taste, IMO, is yummy 😋. Unlike the Russian woman, I like spicy food 😋 Mexican and Asian restaurants serve plenty if food with chilies and spices. 🔥 The closest I have traveled to Malaysia 🇲🇾 is Singapore 🇸🇬. Nice 👌 tips.     • Please do come to Malaysia. Most tourists will flock to kuala lumpur (the capital and twin towers) or penang (food heaven) and some go up further to Langkawi Island. But you can also go to other states like Sabah and Sarawak if you love nature. Sabah has many islands and sarawak has vast tropical jungles.

  • It just seems easier for me to fly around SE Asia on tourist visas. Malaysia is great with the 3 month tourist visa then I can just fly to TH, PH or Bali for a bit and come back. Maybe when I turn 50 I will look into retirement visas but for a person that loves to travel I don't see the need to jump through additional hoops.

  • Malaysian refers to citizenship (having the blue ic formally) and beyond that having deep connection to the land.. Ones may be considered a real anak jati Malaysia if him/her can really blend in the culture and local people, understand and respect each other differences, can talk and understand their mother tongue, feel really connected to the land and people in a sense want to grow and build the country together, willing to protect it if something harming it. That is a real Malaysian to me.. harvesting just good time and enjoying the food is not enough to be Malaysian.. its shallow.. All are welcome here in Malaysia though.. do enjoy what you can.. but dont claim to be one just because of these shallow reasons... sorry if i am being too patriotic.. cant help it since i am Malaysian...
