In this episode we outline how feed & water troughs should be sited & designed in a feedlot to achieve the best results and efficiency. We also discuss about partial sheds, access roads and how big the feedlot should be. Kindly note the video is a followup to a public training held on 15/04/2023 in Zimbabwe.
We often visit farms which have infrastructure that doesn’t communicate and not fit for purpose. It is important to be intentional about infrastructure design or risk starting over again or abandoning infrastructure.

Is it advisable to feed cattle with maggots when pen feeding?
If one has to feed 100 animals @ go what is the length of the feeding trough
Your outside should not be upright It must have a 65%angle for the feed to glide downwards
Noted👌🏿
Good evening sir,l have a question, what is the purpose of a shade?
To prevent feed from rains and direct sunlight and also it makes sure the animals are not heat stressed when feeding
Why do you have of the kraals shaded and some not???
Partial shed is only necessary above the feed trough
On how many acres of land are u doing this project?
What will be your recommended number of animals/space??
How big is your space?
For example my space is 50feet by 50 feet.
what happens when its raining dont u think the food for animals will be wet.
It will be wet thats why a partial shed is necessary
This is so good, please can present on sheep too, thanks
Thank you for the feedback. We shall surely do so
