Dexter that’s because english was HEAVILY effected by French when the French invaded the UK in the 1000’s.
This is so inspirational
This is very impressive! A lot of my students get discouraged at the beginning because of their pronunciation. You pushed through it and did amazing in 6 months! Practice everyday is key!
Yes
It's important to do mainly focus on listening comprehension before anything else to train the ear which then helps tremendously when training pronunciation afterward.
what are 2-3 must dos to get a language down? Ideally, I will study with a language program for 2-3 months then move to France for 3 months. Can only stay 3 months without a visa. how do you feel about learning in Canada or west Africa?

Lol French people are so harsh when correcting someone's French speaking
l. The tutor in the video
@@roseva6818 Well he better correct him, that's literally the reason you pay a tutor. If they let any of your mistakes go, then that becomes ingrained in your speaking and when talking to natives outside a language learning space, most people won't correct you so long as they understand what you're trying to say. I know many non native english speakers who, due to this, have english that is technically(well usually) understandable, but far far far from being accurate or natural english.
The Game Verse but i think idk maybe i think wrong but they have an attitude generally. Like ok you’re wrong i know better byyee. Yes of course he has to correct him but maybe in a little bit softer way. Also i might be a litttlle bit unnecessarily dramatic. 🤷🏻♀️😬 (and i’m sorry if i had mistakes. English is not my first language)
S Aydın I agree, if I was corrected that harshly I’d probably be discouraged from speaking the next time I have to
I'm french and I agree
First language: Arabic Second language: French Foreign language: English Second foreign language: Spanish Current language I’m learning on my own (26 yo): German Learning a new language is possible, the only limit is you and how far you’ll be willing to go to achieve your goal. You can do it, you just need to take the first step. Good luck to all the learners out there!
Viel Glück!
Achraf Danke!
Share your fucking tecniques
Victoria Rodriguez no need to be rude. There is not a universal “technique”. The first step is the prononciation, watch videos and and practicing pronouncing each letter ( I usually don’t practice prononciation as Arabic has a wide range of phonetics which makes it easier to grasp new sounds at first try). Next would be the vocabulary, I always rely on newspapers for new vocabulary and memorize each word by heart, others may have different methods. Third is grammar which I started with before jumping to vocabulary when I started learning German ( which is unusual for some), that way I know the differences and similaires of the language to the languages I speak. French is similar to Spanish in terms of sentence construction, but more emphasized on details ( genders, number, subordination...), English is similar to German in term of vocabulary, the grammar is way more complex and surpasses French in terms of cases and exceptions but it has logic to it. So what I want to say, choose a language based on the ones you speak already ( indogermanic, Romance languages...), try to understand the structure of the language rather than relying on direct translations ( which won’t be correct most of the time) and practice using basic sentences, an online translator and a dictionary. Last is your motivation, no matter how frustrating it gets, don’t give up and juste take a break, let your mind rest and compile whatever you have learned already, get back to learning only when you’re feeling relax and able to receive new imput. I hope I answered your question. Good luck!
You know why you managed to learn a few more? Because you started with Arabic.
It’s incredible how important motivation is when learning a language. I had french for 5 years in school and you’re speaking better than me.
Je pense pas que ça soit que de la motivation. Le secret c'est qu'il faut être responsable de son propre apprentissage. :)

Well that’s because school’s method is not effective at all. If only they changed their method from the inefficient rote memorization to more efficient methods like comprehensible input-based methods, then people would’ve shown so much more improvement than before.
I think his early clips were him reciting lines from the Pimsleur app. So, that's quite a bit easier than coming up with everything on your own, it's like you're handed pre-formed sentences for the most part, and you just have to copy what the native speaker says.
All those practicing time to order a single crossaint
It's croissant in french, not crossaint

If any of you really want to learn a language but don't know where to start. I highly recommend to check out my book that's linked above. It's truly the book I wish I had when I first started to teach myself languages. It explains everything. Where to start, what to expect, all the best resources to use, common mistakes to avoid and it's 10x as motivational as this video :)
I think this video is amazing and has definitely caught my attention and showed me how fast progression is achievable. However, I’m curious. I already have a book called Fluent Forever which focuses on learning languages rather than a specific language instead. I’m sure you’ve explored other books in the market to see how yours compares. Would you say in comparison to Ie Fluent Forever your book is more in depth in terms of materials and exercises or is it literally an overview for any language. I know the title says any language but as you learnt french and this is the language I’m attempting I’m hoping it is more focused on that.
It's applicable to any language. But it's certainly more of a practical guide than Fluent Forever. My book is 80 pages and covers all the essentials. I detail a bit of my story and my journey with each language but except for that part of it, it's all practical, applicable tips and learning techniques. Fluent Forever is around 300 pages if I remember correctly and is a bit more focused on history, and theory vs. immediate practical application. My book would certainly be perfect for if you're learning French. It's applicable to all languages, but it essentially functions as a guide. Which covers what resources to use at every step of the journey, what to expect mentally, how long each step should take, etc. It really outlines the A -> B -> C to learning a new language.
I'm gonna be real upset if in 6-8 months time im still replying to this in english!

Bravo pour ta progression ! je sais que c'est difficile d'apprendre le français ! Now, she says some words that I don't even know (bc they're difficult) !

To the people who would like to study French : don't listen to the ones who say it's too difficult; all you need is motivation. French has a quite common grammar, less different sounds than English and no real accentuations, but the spelling and the conjugations can be tricky. All I'm saying is that each languages has its difficulties and its facilities. Also, the difficulty really depends on your mother tongue and on how far it is from French (eg. Italian speakers will find it easier than English speakers). I think those advices are suitable for every language you'd like to learn.
super belle amélioration ! merci beaucoup, ça me motive pour mon italien 🤩
