  • that's all well and good, but how do I go about making my cards have insane market value that make top meta decks only for those with enough money to shell out a small fortune to be top tier while also having the time to learn degenerate combos that make each turn a 15 minute flex match?

    @nickrondinelli1402@nickrondinelli14024 жыл бұрын
    • Making the cards have higher value comes with the game itself having a higher value. Increasing your SEO to get first place on key words is a great way to start getting a wider audience, thus increasing the value of your game/cards. For example, I'm almost on the first page of google for "Mythology Card Game" meaning, once I get number one on google in time I'll surpass the few top dog competition in that genre. All of which comes with increasing your audience. As for the combos, and flex matches that all comes with designing your cards in such a way, and marketing said cards to be more rare than others. Which will increase those specific cards in value, as well as making it a key strategy to have said cards.

I have a full game concept and I have actually do my own card game before and it wasn't bad, but for my next game I want to have better quality than I can afford with simple printer and ducktape. I want to make my cards look like m32 linen air. Duck tape isn't wrong choice, but it has shiny skin instead of matte skin. My card game using 300+ cards. Where (or how) can I print this amount of cards, if I don't want to do it like amateur? Or can I do it as amateur with similar quality I want?

    • I'd get a copyright or possibly a trademark the name/game if it's not expensive. I live in the states and depending on the state it can range from $50 such as where I live, and up to several thousands in others if you're forced to get a lawyer. It'd be extremely hard to patent a game unless it's the entirety of the game (Though I am no lawyer or professional so this is just my personal opinion)

      @Jasesaster@Jasesaster Жыл бұрын
    • I’m not an expert in this but I remember a KZheadr (Dice tower I think) recommended not to get trade marks, copy write, ect. This industry runs on slim margins and your copy writes will cost more money. As well if someone does steal your work it’s up to you to charge them, and most likely hiring a lawyer. There is also no garentee you will win a case, or if you win your theif might just declare bankruptcy and you just spent $50,000 on nothing. Other companies try to patten terms like “trading card games” to kill off competitors. Those competitors then used “collectable card games” (yes wizard of the coast did try this) If your worried of people stealing your work try this: post online on several forums of your game. The more info the better. Then make your game easy to buy. If anyone wants to steal and sell your game, they will see that anyone can do it and your already a easy person to buy from. This it’s not worth it. But if your still worried, send your game to your self via post/ mail carriers. Do not open it. This will hold up in a court of law that you are the owner. Cheers

I ended up giving him around $6k for one final large design spree and that was enough for him to build his own house, as well as open up his own physical store so now I'm in search for another designer myself. Realistically you're going to be extremely lucky to find someone for $50 an artwork, most will be around $100 unless you get lucky like I did.

  • I'm stucked on mine for a year. Many versions were made, the system is almost ready. But, when I think about doing an official version, taking care about all process, I shit myself and give up. It's been happening for a year. This feeling throws my energy away

    @shigaki5619@shigaki56194 ай бұрын
    • Make smaller goals, if your overall goal is to make a fully official version of the game and that is so daunting then look at breaking down that goal and make smaller goals. It can be as small as Digitize one card, and when you do that the next goal is digitize 5 cards, etc. Once you have the entire game digitized you can look into "Finding the right place to print the cards" doing it this way may help your mental state as you will actually get dopamine for completing the smaller tasks which will 'refill your energy' to progress versus getting overwhelmed with one large goal.

Man, i'm really sad that there is no good app or program to create your own carddesigns. I mean real good ones. There are some crappy websites for these things, that copy cardgames like yu-gi-oh and pokemon, but that's not what i want 😅. I'd like to be able creating my own design. Then there is the possibility using photoshop and stuff, but i'm very dumb using image-programs... For example how big the card should be, how many pixels it'd need to have the perfect size. Then there is designing the corners, designing the text, designing the background of the texts, symbols, bla bla. I really suck and i can't remember stuff that i learn through tutorials in such programs like photoshop 😂 Which actualy is weird because i'm okay at editing videos 😂 Also it costs way to much 😢 It would be nice to have a program or app solving all those problems
