The pop music that survived will be good by definition generally. All the shit pop stuff melts away. Such as will be like our time era, in 30 years people will listen to just "the good stuff" and the rest will be crap. And then, someone will say "pop music was better back then". Music is subjective, but statistics are not.

As a kid, when I lived in Tampa Fl, my family had to temporarily move in with a relative. The stay was so short that I can't remember the school I attended, but I was befriended by a short, kind of chubby black girl on the bus ride home that day, and she invited me over to her house. I went over to her home, although I knew I would get in a lot of trouble for entering someone home, my mom didn't know. We talked about songs and artists we liked, and of course, most of our songs were from the African American culture. She introduced me to many songs from the caucasian culture that I was oblivious to, which included this song. I will never forget ....she turned her back to me and suddenly turned around with black sunglasses on and started to sing this song, which was her favorite. I was hooked, we sang this song over and over again. Then I had to go home. What I didn't know that the friendship we just established that day was brief, so brief that I would go home to find out we were moving again that weekend, and I would never see her again. So, I will use this moment to thank the black wearing the sunglasses wanting to be my friend, and introducing me to great music.

Still wearing my sunglasses at night in 2024
Back in the 80s when everyone thought we would have flying cars by now 😂
According to Back to the Future 2 we should have. What went wrong?
We are so disappointing aren't we...😢
And actual hover boards
We'll never have flying cars. Imagine the chaos when these things fall from the sky
@@fuckinantipope5511 We have flying people, and flying cars to a minimal extent. The tech will come, but will humans qualify to drive is the main question... really they'd need a pilot's license and it would require strict training.
This is a totally overlooked comment. What a kind-of beautiful & magical comment this was. Something so simple & mundane, yet the encounter was special
what a bittersweet memory 💕😢 thank you for sharing it with us
Thank you for sharing, this was bittersweet to read! I hope she reads this and comments

That was deep....some people come into your life for brief moments with a gift for you to continue on your journey. Listening to this in Casablanca, Morocco on a sunny morning thinking about when I first heard this as a teenager in a small town in Northern California dreaming of a way to escape. Blessings🇲🇦☕🙏🏿💨💶🧿
Oh man this brings back memories! I miss all these old songs! Thank god for you tube!

Wearing sunglasses indoors because of a migraine today and this has become my theme song for the day. 😎🕶
#SAME!!!!!!!!!!
My boss let me wear my shades at work when I had migraines
I believe what HE was referring to was "portable scrying mirrors" over his eyes... so he could "keep track of visions in his eyes."
Epic song. Reminds me the film * midnight express*
I get them, too. 😭🙏🏼
70s and 80s music was the best
70's were alright, but I would say 80's/90's were the best personally!
when you wear headphones the music goes back in forth in each ear
Stereo was invented in 1940 ... right in time for Corey!
It kinda feels nice.
THAT'S COOL I BET IT SOUNDS SO COOL AND TAKES THE LISTENER ON A RIDE !! ROCK ON AND I WEAR MY SUN GLASSES AT NIGHT ... ;)
That means that it's a stereo record
I feel like I'm being subjected to some sort of experiment of perception. I thought up a whole music video around this concept that doesn't even relate to the song.
The last memory I have of my uncle was him singing karaoke to this song around the time of St. Patrick’s Day this past year. He loved this song. Rest in peace, Uncle Mike. Love you so much 🕶
Sorry to hear about that , rest in piece.
SilentRetro Thank you.
He's wearing his sunglasses in heaven, rip
Kevin Davis Thank you so much for that. :)

My Google search led me here. Me just assuring myself it’s ok to wear shades in the club at night 💃🏽

The 80s is STILL the best era for music, style and influence. Hands down!!!
60,s 70,s and 80,s
Add to that th 60s & 70s 😉
70s music was better than the 80s, hands down. Not even close.
60s70s and 80s best decades for catchy good real music..IMO.
@@johnp7551 That's your opinion... not everybodys...but 70s is good too.
My kids and wife know the name of this song because I always say, "I wear my sunglasses at night" when I grab my sunglasses. I am sharing the link with them so they know the song behind it.
Pass it on to the next generations... That's what dads are for.
That's a beautiful story, Jeff.
You, my dad, my uncle, and now myself have that in common.

I was a teen in the 80's and I liked this video and song the first time I saw it. I thought I was so cool to wear my sunglasses at night. My mom asked me the first time why I was wearing them and I told her because Corey Hart does and sings about it. She thought I was weird, lol. The 80's were the best time for music and I still really like this song.
@lisa hello how are you doing?
Corey Hart, dealing with it better than anyone since 1983.
If you're listening to this in late 2023, you're a legend too.
My friend tried to tell me with confidence, like he was fully sure this song was from the early 2000s. And I was going crazy trying to tell him there’s no way something that sound so undeniably 80s would be from then. He even tried to say it sounded like 2000 pop music… I was going insane feeling like I was being gaslit because nothing he said made sense until I finally just looked it up and confirmed it was in fact from 84
This doesnt like 2000s at all
How does a human dislike this song...this worlds crazy
Society has a lot of dumb shits in it.
I agreed...
They’re soft don’t know what bathrooms to use and get but hurt yes I know I misspelled
Well everybody likes and dislikes things. Sometimes that changes over time like in my case. As a little kid the song always scared me, but I grew into an adult who likes it.
Because they don’t like wearing sunglasses at night lol
Don’t be ashamed, I wear them in the shower.
Even in your fursuit. 😂
Furries are weird as hell but yeah lol
Your picture ✨ they are! Absolutely
People thought I was weird for smoking in the shower.... Ya got me beat.
LMFAO!!! Comment of the year, that hahaha x
I freaking love this song and it really takes me back to my high school days
When you only wear your sunglasses in the day time, this song you wouldn't understand 😐
It can be 3000 years into the future, and this song still will be hittin
