180 Degree bend and thread for conduit light fixture 💡
We've been using some scrap bits of 20mm galvanised conduit to make some light fixtures for our set. Stage one is to bend a 180-degree bend and thread both ends.
** Used in this conduit light fixture **
20mm steel conduit - this ain't on EMT conduit
20mm BC22 lamp holder - used in the UK and few other parts of the world
BESA conduit through box with brass cable gland
Bend-It-Now conduit bender

I’m really glad your channel was recommended to me. I’m learning a lot. Thank you.
How i miss my electric class... Glad im a electrician ngl Btw, nice job my man, nice job
Why
@joseph dejacque you wish you were an electrician 😂
Light bending eh, thought Professor Brian Cox was going to make an appearance.
😂😂😂
Love the videos, how about doing a video on using a string line, loads of purely domestic sparks don't seem to use them. So handy though if your doing spotlights, picture lights, saddles etc. Any things that need to be quickly but precisely installed in line really.
That’s because we use lasers? String line in a finished home or building is just asking for a mess. Also, lasers set up in the middle of the room in like two minutes easy.
@@loganthesaint True, very good points yes the chalk can leave some residual mess and lasers are too very useful for most of the same jobs and often quick to setup too. I personally have had a string line in my tools since my first apprentiship tool kit probably because I worked on only large underground rail projects I.e concrete walls. But its still there now and I do domestic works mainly, its good for unfinished or hidden surfaces, almost unbreakable, never have to consider battery as chalk lasts decades and cheap as chips so has its benifits.
Love the videos guys. Just a wee pointer though. I was taught as a young apprentice electrician to file the conduit before unscrewing the dies it would then stop you flaring the threaded ends when filing after dies are removed?
Sounds like a great tip 👍

@@efixx humble af. Awesome!🤝
I always use my unibit on anyting 1in or smaller (3/4 , 1/2 ) and my rat tail file on everything else
Have you ever used offcuts to make the arms of the stocks longer thus making threading easier. Handy if you are doing lots of conduit.
Suspiciously skillfull with the lube
A slippery character
@@efixx We got the message “slick” 😂
I need more thread butter.
Here in the States, we can only bend conduit to 90°. And who uses a hack saw any more, we have battery portabands. I have 2 different sizes in my van
BS. If that was the case every ceiling with a gooseneck bend would be illegal. And a triple nickle can make a 180 degree bend. The only limit is 360 degrees between boxes.
@@robertthomas7239 according to the NFPA 70 National Electric Code the maximum angle of any ONE bend is 90° and a total of 360 between pull or junction boxes. Goose necks are no longer legal.
@@113annamolly Still incorrect. Provide an alleged code # and I will gladly give you the correct text. It certainly isn't in 344.26. What year apprentice are you?
@@robertthomas7239 article 344.24 tells me the max between any box is equivalent of 4 quarter bends (360°), then refers you to chapter 9 table 2 which gives you the radius of the center line of listed conduit. Example for 1/2" conduit is 4" any less would be an over bend of 90°. What year apprentice are you.
@@113annamolly You obviously do not understand geometry. The shoe on the bender determines the radius, not the degree of bend. And I've had my supervising electrician's license since 1996. You're wrong.
I remember doing that as part of my apprenticeship back in the 80's 😁
Bud if I had a bender like that the things I could do wow nice work
Very nice 👍👍
I've done that countless times with a regular conduit Bender that you put your foot on
Threaded conduit looks so much better and more secure.
I really enjoy watching you work... very aesthetically pleasing.
Such a modern piece to complete a modern home
Man and thought working construction was hard... More power to you for being an electrician. I would never work with something I could die instantly too.
I see 👀 what you did there!! More ⚡️⚡️ to you! Get it?🙃
Broo I am so happy I found your channel.
Thanks
Let's see you do a Swan neck, barber shop style outside lights lol
send us a link to what you mean and we'll have a go.
Man I love watching these videos
Not the way we do it in the US but absolutely beautiful
Got to be honest I was a bit disappointed when he put the though box on , thought he was going to make the rest of the trombone
😂🎺
Beautiful
Love these short vids 😕
Nice work !
sooo, you don't have pipe cutters and reamers in UK? Sure, a rat tail file works .... after a while, but there's a tool made for that that does the job quicker and cleaner.
So....a fULL,factory thread at one end. Cut tube, full thread made at other end. Then fit thro box to new thread and cut over half the factory thread off to fit lampholder! Seems counter productive, why not just turn half a thread for lampholder?....just saying
We call it a mistake 😬
efixx It takes balls to admit mistakes, respect. Most blame others,! I only posted as sometimes "I identify as a picky tw@"😂😂. And I recall whilst doing my indentured apprenticeship I spent an entire Saturday morning turning a length of conduit into nipples. I cannot see the present 'baseball hat-ed' attention seeking snowflake Sparks doing that anytime soon
I was just thinking why the hell is he going back on himself, then ta-da lamp fixing. That is totally awesome looking, I might try that 👍🏼
Whoever recording this was breathing mad hard lmao
Whoa Gaz doing some work 🤣🤣🤣
😳 threading EMT I’ve seen it all
It’s not EMT
I should’ve tried to be an electrician do you know how much they make in New York City and especially a union one it’ll 🤯🤯🤯🤯 definitely got my respect
My guy you have all this nice stuff and no sawzall?
So satisfying.
Thought we were going to get a tune out of your new trombone there for moment 😁
Love it
Thanks 👍🏻
Wow, nice work. What brand pipe threaded die?
What the name of this bending machine plz?
3 turns one way and then half a turn back and repeat
Every apprentices nightmare - saddle steps
Направляющая на Лерку ? Это классная идея !!!
Perfect electric
Nice👍👍👍👍
is this for commercial work because i work residential and build alot of things but never had to use this running electric
Every time I see you use the lubricant for your threading die it makes me want toast.
go on treat yourself
I thought 11 threads is what you are looking for. Is it 9 for 3/4"
Are serrated washers and lockringsonly used in scotland?
Do u guys use Chicago benders in the UK what type of bender is that?
So, it’s basically what was called a Chicago Bender back in the day. They’ve been around forever.
What is this Or what it is used for ??
Has efixx every reviewed conduit benders like the "Ideal 74-027 Conduit Bender" are they any good or just a gimmick...
The Ideal ones are built for EMT which has very thin walls compared to 🇬🇧 conduit - okay if you want a workout 🏋️♀️
Is there a reason why in the US conduit and junction boxes are made of metal, maybe rigidity or heat transfer ? Where I live there are all made from plastic much easier to work with, but houses are made almost exclusively from concrete or concrete bricks, rarely drywall is used.
Wire protection and continuous ground / earth to take leakage currents back to the source. Conduit is not typically used in residential, mainly commercial and industrial. Although there are a few jurisdictions that do require conduit in residential.
@@olesparky82 nice to know, wher i live since all wires go through concrete walls, conduit must be used. Also here a separate ground wire is passed to every spot where phase/neutral wire are passed, all ground wires are connected in the electrical cabinet to potential equalizer busbar and from the busbar to electrodes that are welded to structure foundations.
@@eliadbu we run a dedicated ground as well. The conduit system just provides another path incase the wires get damaged.
@@olesparky82 could be valid solution especially on older houses that are not up to standard.
He made a u-tube.
Very good 👍 😂😂😂
Didn’t read the conduit part. Was thinking whether he is flossing with us by connecting a lamp socket to pipe end.
Now I want mustard
Every tool in every video is brand new, wtf
Does conduit have npt thread or its own special thread?
Npt
@@Yousitech thanks
Well, first, this is a video from the UK. NPT is a US standard, the British have their own standard for Pipe threads, so it's not likely that the threads you see in this video are NPT. Also, in the US, conduit is usually threaded with NPT threads, couplings are threaded with NPS thread, which is the same dimensions as NPY, but cut straight instead of tapered. This is so that when you use a coupling between two pieces of conduit, you can screw the two lengths of conduit in until their ends touch inside the coupling.
Lol. It only takes 4 hours to install a light in the UK
what country?
How often do you guys use IMC?
IMC may be just a US/North America thing.
@Andrew Alexander To my understanding, our "IMC" is Europe's "standard conduit".
@Andrew Alexander 2.) I just ask because I've seen NM flexible conduit been used more often than not, and was wondering whether you use metallic conduit or non-metallic conduit for a majority of applications.
@@XoJOHNoX96 I’m in the US so wouldn’t know how much one or the other is used. But after taking a second look at the conduit in the video I agree it looks more like our IMC than it does US rigid conduit.
If they had this for rmc
Hermoso 😻
please call this guy to go to the cardiologist. With this breading soon he will have heart attack.
You own a fancy ass Chicago bender but no bandsaw?
We have this one 👉kzhead.info/sun/lsydn9ymn5eerJE/bejne.html
💪👍💪👍💪✌️
there's no way this will last. everyone knows that electric current is like the flow of water, and voltage is the pressure. there's no way this is watertight
Enseñenme a doblar tubo por favor
Tell whoever’s recording to stop mouth breathing heavily it takes away from the video entirely

21 век- слышали НАГЛОсаксы?!!!
Metal and electricity is usually not a very smart idea.
Ive done a LOT of new wiring and demolition work on commercial spaces, but never seen anything like this, must take forever. Most of the time im glad if the electricians put in some kind of support or loops instead of just dumping all the wires on top of the ceiling tiles, but this is just ridiculous
Tasty
Size of the pipe and tap size?
High dollar bender but still uses a hacksaw. All kinds of cordless bandsaw out there and it will make a cleaner cut. Yes I do have a hacksaw but couldn't tell you the last time I used it
Why he breathing so hard
I have a medical issue
What kind of threader is that?
Nothing light about the bloke doing the bending haha ..i actually like those lights.. nice one Gaz
BUY A SAWZALL
Что это?
Can't think of anything worse than doing metal conduit work 🤮
Why the he'll are you threding emt again
Soon as I saw the round file I knew he hasn't done much conduit work
Don’t forget the lock ring
Can hear his heavy ass mouth breathing through the whole thing
Чего получиллсь то?
Why file the insides of thread🤔
Why you use a metal box ?
Damn old tech! Grow up USA!
Not the way I was shown how to thread conduit 50 yrs ago!
What did you get taught differently Ray?
low efficiency
Can I install these lights on the wall above my jacuzzi ?
No
Add any music or sound, non-stop breathing is hard listening to
