  • The biggest I ever operated was a 5.5t excavator and for me even a small excavator like that was one of the most impressive human creations I ever used. The power is simply unbelievable compared to human strength. You move masses of soil in seconds which would take days with shovels. You can rip out trees and move huge rocks like nothing. And it's so freaking easy to get a feeling for those machines. After a few minutes the excavator feels like a part of yourself.

    • The most difficult excavator to operate on a tough job is the smallest ones. They tip over much easier.

    • I worked for an equipment rental company in my 20s (shout out to Skagit Birch Equipment) and got to run thousands of different kinds of machines over the years from boom lifts, forklifts of every style, skid steers, bulldozers, excavators. those little ride along ditch witches (the dingo 420 lol). Probably my favorite was getting to test the 150 foot telescoping boom lift. Nothing like seeing your city from a basket 150 ft in the air. I always recommend that kind of job to young people, you get so much experience in very short amount of time lol.

    • Unfortunately that is a fake photo. That pinnacle is Kalavantin Durg, located in district of Maharashtra, India. They would not allow any equipment such as a excavator on its slopes, it is a historic site. Two photos were merged together to create that thumbnail.

  • Awfully good saves, most of these. And a good demonstration of excavator acrobatics. It does take a respectable amount of experience & full-body coordination to onload an excavator onto a flatbed truck *_without ramps_* or to get it unstuck when it's lost its footing... I must admit, though, that bozo that kept scratching on the face of a 10 story high cliff was a suicidal maniac 😲 I've owned & operated tractors for 10 years now. To me operating an excavator is practically the same as that of a tractor having a 4-lever-controlled backhoe. The difference is on an excavator, you get to steer & drive the vehicle at the same time you're using that hydraulic arm. Still, I would never be able to successfully get away with the stunts in these clips!
