  • There is one reason Gonzaga had a tough game ---- Texas' amazing defense. Period.

    • They says they took themselves out of it. Not really. Texas' defense took them out. I guess it is hard to really admit you flat out got beat. Human nature. I know the Zags had a great year, a great team, but it wasn't their night.

    • I agree, disappointed in the coach and student athletes for not having one positive thing to say about the Texas performance. I know Coach Vic Shaffer would have given them praise if Texas would have lost Hook'em Texas and I salute the person that had this post. May God bless, Gonzaga

  • Give credit to a stifling defense! They were better than you. Period.

  • I was at the game. I felt so bad when Eliza Hollingsworth went down and it really made Texas look bad at the time because, why were we even playing defense with 20 seconds left? Just let them make a basket and then run the clock out to game over. But of course that's just not how college athletes are wired. They play every second like it matters, it's your pride on the line. When she did not get up after the first minute, second minute, or third minute, then I started having flashbacks to Rudy Gonzalez's injury when Trevor Ariza sent him to the floor on a dunk attempt. We all thought Rudy was dead or he broke his neck or something. Later, I watched the replay and it was obvious that the Texas defender was not to blame for that injury, it was just one of those really unfortunate things where, despite the defender's best effort to get out from under you, nonetheless you land slightly on their foot and roll your ankle. So I'm glad to hear that the X-rays were negative. Every basketball player has rolled their ankle like that at some point.

  • Gonzaga players trying to say that they took themselves out of the game, not the Texas defense.. LOL… Texas dominated you with their defense.

    • It's half and half actually if you look at it. Texas wasn't playing well in the first half and a lot of turnovers and fouls from both sides. If there is one slight, it's fonier who didn't have any adjustments when they could have cut the lead to less than 10 in the first half.

    • I was at the game. As a former college player, this is the first time I've ever seen a team shoot less than 15% from the field for an entire half, or shoot five airballs. Texas played great defense, but even as a Texas fan, I would have liked to see Gonzaga play the way they played in the second half for the entire game, and I'm sure the Zags would feel that way too.

  • Gonzaga coach not up to admitting they got their butt kick. Happens sometimes, but it was Texas not Gonzaga that controlled the game.

  • I guess humble pie is not in their DNA. Not one positive thing said about there a great Texas team. I guess that comes from there coach. I know coach Vic would have praised them had Texas lost.

  • Wow, sour grapes and not a positive for a Gonzaga team that got there ass handed to them. Not impressed with there student athletes.

  • Gonzaga missed a lot of open shots and couldn't get enough rebounds. it wasn't because of Texas pressure. Neither teams played that well. Texas just played better.

    • Nah, I was at the game. Texas totally dominated them in the first half. Nobody shoots 3-21 and 14.3% from the field simply from being cold or whatever. Those four airballs weren't all unforced errors. That being said, I agree there were some unforced errors, but I don't think if they played again tomorrow it would be a different result. Texas is just a deeper team, it was easy to see why they're a 1-seed this year. That being said I was really impressed that Gonzaga kept battling until the final whistle.
