@Kazuma - Last years winners were Dimitri, Claude, Edelgard, and Lysithea. Recency bias hit extra hard that year (They're deserving winners, but they absolutely crushed everyone else)

@Kazuma - Probably cuz he's a main character and Gatekeeper's an NPC. I can't think of any other reason. If it's any consolation for them, Chrom should win easily next year. The gap between him and fourth place was relatively big, so unless a new FE comes by surprise later this year, he shouldn't have any stiff competition.

I mean you're in a fucking war, I can understand mages not wearing them a bit but armored units? People find it cool to shoot stuff, but the problem os you need to increase power and threat to make it interesting, it justs get repetitive. Now you just write a simple happy go lucky gate guard. Hes not interested in the big anime fights. Hes not worried about doom and gloom. He gives back to his community. I've never heard of FE before, and i root for him more then any over written, over powered anime trash dude or lady with sword fighting this weeks villain.

That is shockingly awesome, I think what this truly reflects is the God-tier voice acting skills of Kyle McCarley. His performance as 9S was one of the best/most emotional I've ever heard. It's absolutely amazing that a freaking NPC can become so compelling when voiced by him, that he's able to win this vote Honestly that's the best thing about FE 3H in general that elevates it, the voice acting

You should see the Danganronpa fandom... it's basically what you said, except that other than having some "heavy topics" it has very gruesome and brutal deaths, and then there's the fandom that is very dilly-dally, making goofy memes of characters like Nagito and Kokichi. A character that over half fanbase doesn't know cuz they weren't born in the age of retro gaming. First protag or not isn't really important when you're franchise has the ability to tell different stories with new characters. Besides given that Chrom and Lucina are just copy pastes of Marth I'm just tired of seeing the same goody two shoes blue haired lord character.

The guy in the hat is the gatekeeper, a very kind npc soldier who always says hello to everyone and says he works to make people smile. People liked him enough to vote him for the win
He also is one of the characters that shows the most emotion in his voice

@Kazuma - Last years winners were Dimitri, Claude, Edelgard, and Lysithea. Recency bias hit extra hard that year (They're deserving winners, but they absolutely crushed everyone else)
@Kazuma - Probably cuz he's a main character and Gatekeeper's an NPC. I can't think of any other reason. If it's any consolation for them, Chrom should win easily next year. The gap between him and fourth place was relatively big, so unless a new FE comes by surprise later this year, he shouldn't have any stiff competition.

As someone who didnt really know gatekeeper as a meme, and played 3 houses, I genuinely unironically love him. Hes so good. While Marth is a good boy, so is gatekeeper and I love both. Gatekeeper is great too and is a fresh face despite being an npc.

People find it cool to shoot stuff, but the problem os you need to increase power and threat to make it interesting, it justs get repetitive. Now you just write a simple happy go lucky gate guard. Hes not interested in the big anime fights. Hes not worried about doom and gloom. He gives back to his community. I've never heard of FE before, and i root for him more then any over written, over powered anime trash dude or lady with sword fighting this weeks villain.

That is shockingly awesome, I think what this truly reflects is the God-tier voice acting skills of Kyle McCarley. His performance as 9S was one of the best/most emotional I've ever heard. It's absolutely amazing that a freaking NPC can become so compelling when voiced by him, that he's able to win this vote Honestly that's the best thing about FE 3H in general that elevates it, the voice acting

A character that over half fanbase doesn't know cuz they weren't born in the age of retro gaming. First protag or not isn't really important when you're franchise has the ability to tell different stories with new characters.
