HyperX Cloud Stinger: bit.ly/3sh4OD6
Razer Kraken X: bit.ly/3c7kzXE
We look at the cheapest gaming headphone offerings from Razer and HyperX, both running $50, and decide which is the best product.
It's easy to break the bank when shopping for audio gear like headphones, but both Razer and HyperX have released competing wallet-friendly options. The Razer Kraken X and the Kingston HyperX Cloud Stinger are both on the market for roughly $50, but which is better?
In this video we go over some important factors like build quality including weight and materials, audio features, and microphone quality. The Razer set also comes with a piece of bonus software for its 7.1 surround sound software, which seems to work reasonably well at imitating true 7.1 surround. The headsets do come out almost evenly, so some of the factors might be worth more in your personal preference. Check out the video for the full breakdown of all the features to help pick which headset is right for you.

Bought the hyper x stinger headphones and they're pretty good. Main advantage for me is the mic mute and foldable earpiece. Great deal.
Deciding factor For me was that i can swap the earpads with any other hyperx pads, (p)leather was peeling so swapped it with a cloud 2 pads, feels totally different
thx for this so much i didnt know about that and feared that I wouldn't like the ear pads with how thin they are but this gave me assurity and I'm definitely going with the hyperx stinger now
Had a Razer Kraken X broke within 6 months moved to a more Expensive Hyper X Cloud Revolver S and love it.
I've had the hyperX stinger ones for 5 whole years! So def a solid pick - they're a headset that can withstand a lot. Today they finally broke as sound cut out on one side, so it is time to switch to a new headset. Overall a very good budged choice!
Same, I got the HyperX Stinger back in 2016 and last night it finally stopped working with the same issue - no sound from the left speaker. I don't use headphones too often, mainly when playing co-op but I really can't fault these. Now I'm looking at a replacement but am seriously thinking of just getting another Stinger.
I've had the Kraken X for almost 2 years now, and while there is some wear and tear on them (mostly from my big ass head stretching them out) they're working flawlessly. My only complaint is that the earcups get warm after a while, I've gotten used to that but still.

The Hyper X is a quality headset with good bass and very comfy earpiece. My advice is that if you are on PC invest in a dedicated soundcard if your MBs offering is sounding sub par. An inexpensive 39$ paired with the Hyper X gives me really good sound with decent emulated 5.1 surround that actually works.
Don't invest in a sound card, just get an amp and DAC

@@agssub3986I don't have that and it did start having peeling problems on the earcups but that's with almost daily use after all this time so il excuse it. I haven't had any sound quality, mic or technical problems yet after using it for this long either

Using hyperx cloud stinger for 4 years never had a problem but just change ear cushions and headpad after 2-3 years 😅

Same with the Hyperx, mine broke after I pushed the mic to far back and now every time it moves up and down it makes a loud static noise
it still depends on how you use it. i have a much cheaper off branded headset, still intact even after a year. It depends on how a user will take care of their headsets.

So hyper x?
Same thing happened to my Kraken X. Found a thread on reddit of people who experienced the same thing on their headphones. I think it's a major flaw on Kraken X.
I find the flip-up mute way better than frumble f'ing around for a under cup button. hyper X for me

In ear monitors actually blow headphones away, *even budget IEMs are lightyears ahead of most "gaming" marketed headphones.* It's sad af how many people don't use or even know about multiple driver In Ear Monitors. Imagine having a separate driver (speaker) for lows, highs, mids and vocals vs one driver marketed as a gaming headset that is actually crap compared to even budget IEMs
Any iems youd reccomend as an alternative to one of these headsets in particular? You have my curiosity
@@budgetglados8761 x2
@@budgetglados8761 first off the IEM rabbit hole is deep, just research them because any budget range $30 - $50 will blow both these "gaming" headsets away. In most headphones and most earbuds there is only one driver (speaker) to do all the work, it has to play lows, highs, mids and vocals all through the one speaker per ear and that's why a lot of it sounds muddy but most people are ok with that because they see it says gaming on the box. Most people that use gaming headsets and earbuds have basically trained their ears to like normal audio but once you try IEMs you'll immediately be able to tell the difference. And you will also wonder why most people don't use them. A lot of musicians use them, if you look at video of any fairly popular band, singer musical act you'll see the IEMs wrapped around their ears but they work 100% well with any audio source including phones and gaming. You'll probably be sensitive to hifi audio at first and may get headaches because you're hearing hifi audio for the first time for any length of time but that may or may not be a problem for you. Then you'll go further down the rabbit hole and start learning about terms like V shaped and U shaped, soundstages and bright and warm sounds. Just Google them, watch videos about IEMs and you'll find some that are perfect for the sensitivity you may or may not have. Sorry long reply
@@budgetglados8761 but to answer your question at the budget range a fairly entry level brand is KZ just Google it or KZhead it KZ In Ear Monitors and listen to what people say about them but this is only budget level, they get crazy expensive but for most people they'll be ok if you're not a audiophile.

@@Demiurge_sama I get compliments all the time in warzone on my mic quality. The condition is excellent even though I can be rough with my headset during heated Warzone tournaments, there isn’t noise cancellation per say but I’ve never received a complaint about my buddies I play with hearing anything going on in the background and the sound quality is phenomenal I hear people’s footsteps from a mile away and hear the exact direction their coming from as well as heading quietly peeked doors. I don’t use discord so I don’t know how it would hold up on that I just use it for warzone, battlefield, and Doom. I’d rate the mic quality to be well above average considering the price but the best part is the audio quality.
I got my hyperx stingers for like 20$
For anybody searching for cheap headphones that are very decent, the hyperx stinger is really good, i've had it for years and its awesome the sound quality, the microphone and all that is really good feeling. Build quality is good, it will last long
I’ve had the Cloud Stinger for 3 years and then finally switched to a more premium headset. Here is my thought: It’s a good headset. It’s comfortable for short term but gets a little warm and sweaty, not a big deal. The flip up to mute feature is awesome and I miss it a lot. I got them in 2018 and in 2020 I started having issues with sound cutting out or only coming out of one earpiece which really ruined the experience. The band padding also started to degrade over time, leaving black pieces everywhere. I take pretty good care of my headsets, and I haven’t heard this anywhere else, so I may be the lone case. It’s a fine headset for $50. Just don’t expect it to last you years. It’s good enough to hear footsteps in games, but it won’t be as precise as a better headset by any means.
what did you upgrade to? How are you finding your upgrade?

Very comfortable and great sound and mic quality, for $150. Honestly the only thing I don’t care for about them is that they take up a usb spot on the console for the wireless receiver. I have a PS4 slim which only has two USB ports, and one has my hard drive in it. Which means I can’t charge a controller while playing with headphones. If I play for long sessions, it’s something I have to plan ahead for to make sure everything is charged up and ready to go. I still have my Stinger as a backup. It’s not a junk headset by any means. It does the job and it DID the job well for me for 2.5 years, just has a shorter life span. @@messy8424 I work at a staples location in Canada, I believe we still sell them
@@hkhatri12 I forgot to mention my favorite feature of the 7X: the feedback from speaking through the mic. When you talk, it plays your voice through the headset so you can hear your own voice. It’s a small thing, but I constantly found myself taking off an earpiece on the Stinger when I was talking because I didn’t like not being able to hear my voice very well. It feels...constricting in a way for me. I didn’t even know the 7X had this feature until I put them on. I’m sure not everyone feels this way and it won’t matter for you. But I couldn’t recommend the 7X enough. I’ve only had them for maybe 5 months so I can’t speak to their life span, but so far I’m very happy.

I have had the HyperX headset for about 2 years now, and I can say I don't recommend, the mic constantly falls down from slight head tilts, for about 5 months the head piece was very uncomfortable, the pads are starting to fall apart, but can be replaced I believe, not even a year of having them the mic stopped working for some reason, and the headset cannot deal with much bass anymore, or it will start to clip, but besides that the audio is/was alright for $50, nothing special, I can definitely tell where footsteps are, but only if I'm actively listing for them, you definitely get what you pay for. If you have an external mic, and you want something under $50 look into the Superlux hd668b.
