  • FYI, it was named "the trail of tears " because of the many hastily dug graves along the rout. The indians were on a forced march. one third of the 15k Cherokee died along the way. The shallow graves were in the shape of tear drops.

(The Americans were in moderately fortified positions, really just a farm with a stone wall.) ==================================================================================================================================================== American Forces: Leader: Major General Andrew Jackson Strength: 5,700 Soldiers Casualties: 13 dead, 30 wounded, 19 missing or captured ==================================================================================================================================================== Keep in mind the British at this point in time (1815) were seen as the world's best empire. And this is only 20 or so years after the American revolution meaning we were still rather weak. Andrew Jackson was a war hero, and defended our nation against foreign invasion, though of course, he ended up doing the 'Tear of Trails' which is unfortunate, I just wish people would study more history instead of saying the ol' "America is bad and sucks".

    • @Chase da dolla 247 The word Native American didn't existed before the 1950s. Indians, or Amerindians is what the Cherokees, Seminoles, Choctaws, Creeks, and Chickasaw tribes where all called. You saying Whites should go back to Europe, than that means Amerindians should go back to Siberia.
