REPLACED A HEAVY DUTY DIESEL WITH A 2024 TOYOTA TUNDRA SR5 OFF-ROAD. LETS SEE HOW THIS WORKS OUT!

So after crunching the numbers I see huge savings in getting a gas 1/2 ton over a heavy duty diesel but will I regret this? Also let’s see how this 2024 Tundra performs and holds up!

But still when I grab drivers handle I have to hold my hand there for a few seconds and it’ll unlock front door first then the rest. You’ll hear the 2 deer are door unlocks.

  • My only $.02 is even though you have Toyota’s maintenance plan I would *highly* recommend sticking to their severe maintenance schedule. An oil change every 16,000km (10,000 miles) with 0W-20 is asking for problems down the road. I highly recommend sticking to 10,000km (6,000 mile) changes at the most for long term reliability

    • I'm at 30,000 on my 2022, 5000 thousand mile oil change interval. If I was considering a turbo charged engine I would trust Toyota to build it and stand behind it. Toyota has decades of experience with forced induction.

  • I am really interested to see how thee new tundras hold up in the real world work truck testing. I was a die hard toyota guy my whole life, then this year when my 2018 tacoma got flooded I needed to replace it in a week. I ended up getting a super crew 2020 f150 with the 2.7. I could not be happier, the room for two kids, the ride quality, the transmission shifting and even gas milage is better than the tacoma. I got the 2.7 because of all the issues you hear about with the 3.5. Its a totally different engine that the rest of the ecoboost engines. Probably would not work for you, my towing is 5500, or 9000 with the max tow package. Plus I like that the body is aluminum. All the rams and chevys here that are a few years old have the rockers and wheel wells rotting out already. My wife's 2022 rav4 has wind noise like that too, and I hate how toyotas shut off when you open the door. So dumb.

Holding the driver's door handle for approximately 2 seconds unlocks all the doors. Grip front passenger door handle to unlock all the doors.* Make sure to touch the sensor on the back of the handle. The doors cannot be unlocked for 3 seconds after the doors are locked. 2. Touch the lock sensor (indentation on the upper part or lower part of the handle) to lock all the doors. Check that the door is securely locked. *: The door unlock settings can be changed.

  • I’m looking into a Tundra as well (long time HD/Diesel guy who doesn’t tow much anymore) fyi the tow hook issue I can’t stand either.. Rough country actually makes a nice front bumper piece with a winch mount that has tow hooks which looks real clean and is fairly decent price (599$ without winch or $1079 with a 12k winch) it’s rough country, so I’m not sure on the longevity but it’s a fix and gives a winch option for this that use these for truck things.

The wind noise control knob is more commonly known as the volume control for the stereo. The more you rotate the knob clockwise you will notice the more the wind noise diminishes. 😏

Gasser, nice cloth interior, decent mpg maybe 3mpg less, but yet can still tow heavy skid steer, and heavier suspension, etc for your offroad longevity needs. I believe you will be trading it back on a f250 in 6 months. I have an f150 still with a slip tank, but I always find myself in the wrong truck at the wrong time having to commute back for the f450 lariat, or f350 lariat....I ended it by removing the slip tank and driving the f350 daily.

  • Out of curiosity what kind of fuel mileage is the Toyota getting? I have a gas V8 Ram and I just purchase a 2020 Ram 6.7 Cummins with 20k miles on it this week. Two days in a row I had to make 243 mile round trip and I used the gas truck on one and the diesel on the other day. That Cummins (not deleted yet) got 19.7mpg calculated at the pump and the gas only got 15. So even though the diesel was more expensive per gallon it ended up being a little cheaper to fill the diesel than it was the gas truck. I'm guessing the Tundra is getting a lot better fuel mileage though. But I was actually really impressed with the Cummins, I was over 80+mph for most of the interstate, now I'm really curious what it will do after the weight loss program I'm looking to put it on.

It was coming from the passenger side we brought the truck in 3 times to get it fixed. The last time they dented the hell out of the bottom of the door and didn't say a word about it. Then the sun roof started making wind noise even worse then then the passenger side. It had beautiful camel color leather and the dye from what ever you wore would transfer to the seats. Next the leather started pealing off on the piping around the seat. The leather was super soft like lamb leather it was beautiful but not good for car seats. We were extremely disappointed in Toyota after having nothing bad to say on our 2004 tundra we had until the Highlander. We ended up trading it in after a year for an expedition which has been great for the past few year's. Hopefully the tundra's are great for you, but knowing you they will be gone iness than a year lol

  • Are you going to get a round bar backrack for it. You can carry long items like packing pipe to jobs or lumber for the cabin. Make the truck as versatile as you can. Even some side rails so you can secure loads in the box. You'll be driving this truck more than you think. I'd look for an aluminum slip tank it would be some weight savings. A black power coated one would look good. You'll be changing out the vanilla tires after the first time you get stuck on a soupy jobsite 😂 Find some aftermarket wheels so you can run a 17 or 18 inch tire. The 20inch rubber is so grossly expensive. Gas is sure cheap in Nova Scotia I paid 1.91 a litre for 93 octane today. I don't run gas with ethanol the 6.2 runs like crap on the regular gas. I don't think I'd buy a ecoboost F150. Ya they've got power my old boss had a 19 F150 with the 3.5 EB the power that truck had 😮 It wasn't a trouble free engine had valve issues. • The 5.7 tundra was nice and a proper truck. This new one looks terrible and they went out of their way to make sure it’s not meant to be a truck. I.e no usable rear bumper, no recovery hooks, a massive long plastic filled front clip for horrible approach angles. And smaller inside than the older crew cab. No thanks. And I owned a 16 tundra. Great truck

    @pryme2013@pryme20134 ай бұрын
    • I don’t find the inside any smaller

    • @@workplaytv The stats don’t lie. The new one is smaller inside and bigger outside which is just super poor packaging. The bed is smaller too. It’s a real disaster of a truck. With about 18” of nothing up front it’s just completely useless. That front clip is ugly, plastic junk. The rear legroom in the crew cab is like 3” less which is huge!

  • Have you tried the remote start from the app? Thats annoying that the remote start is so crappy on a new truck … also that it shuts off when you open the door. Kinda dumb, I would imagine someone will have a programmer/fox for this but shouldn’t need to do that in 2024!!
