I haven't played hockey since I was 19 (I'm 29 this year), I'm starting to play Recreational Hockey this year, and my shoulder pads and gloves don't quite fit me, but its close enough that I should be able to play Rec with no issue (until I buy some new gear). I decided to stick with my fishbowl visor, as I would like to keep most of my teeth (I will also have a cage as backup), this is because I took 2 slapshots to the face when I was a teenager, only reason I still have my teeth was cause I was wearing that Fishbowl.

However, when I'm sitting there is a large gap, like halfway up my thigh. Is that normal? I can't quit tell how yours go when your sitting. Thanks for the amazing video. Best I've seen so far!

  • My son's shoulder pads are a snug fit coming off. They go on easily, but it takes a little more work to get them off. Is this normal? His pads are Warrior and they fit in every other way, but I was looking at these very pads (in a junior small, he's 7yrs old & 4'3") bc they look to be slightly bigger in pics. Are the neck openings different sizes/shape brand to brand? The closest quality hockey store is 1.5hrs one way, not really up for a day long excursion for a pair of pads if I can avoid it.

    @matts9352@matts93523 жыл бұрын
    • they probably are a bit harder to take of because of sweating which makes gear a bit "stickier" when sliding it off, and also because the body expands ever so slightly when it's training/warmed up. All brands will fit a bit differently. As lot as they sit snugly on the shoulders and he's comfortable with them while playing, I wouldn't worry too much.

  • Thanks! I'm a figure skater who's just getting interested in maybe playing hockey. 1) What is the purpose of the hockey socks? It seems like they just cover over the top of the padding, so it's not like they protect your skin from chaffing, or keep the padding from getting funky. Do they have any actual function? 2) I've read that one is supposed to have a neck guard, but you're not wearing one. Are they common/uncommon? Thanks!

    @marybertke6890@marybertke68902 жыл бұрын

  • OK well this video spurred me to skate out again after being a goalie for the last 20 years plus....I took some Xmas money and bought a whole set of new gear less gloves on line...wicked clearance sale...got it all new for C$300 skates included. Don't need the latest and greatest at my skill level. I have just lost 75 lbs and am looking for a cardio workout having just got a clean bill of health for my ticker,. tested up the ying yang. Nothing worse than a fat goalie, I was 177 lbs last Friday! So off I go tonight to a low level pickup game I normally play nets for. Hope to skate out two nights a week and between the pipes four, skate might be stretching it a bit as I have not worn player skates since about 2004. At least it will not hurt when I fall! Second childhood or mid life crisis?? Losing that lard I was on the ice in nets six nights a week. I am 60 BTW.
