Why is it incredible? It's absurdely huge, very inefficient energy-wise (charging this 130 kWh battery will take forever thus having only 300 miles of range with this massive battery) and all that stuff that urbanists say: danger for pedestrians, unfit for parking lots etc. Classic 'murican 'city car'.

I’m glad that they stuck with a body-on-frame design, they just got rid of the leaf springs and used independent rear suspension, improving rear ride comfort. That being said, I’ve seen the rear lower control arms and they’re massive and complex. If you get rear ended in this truck, it might get totaled if the rear lower control arms get damaged.

Honestly, as beefy and complex as they might be, the rear suspension components are the most expensive part of an accident, it'd be the frame damage. And with a full frame, youre much less likely to suffer frame damage or frame damage that can't easily be corrected, when compared with a unibody design.

I respect Ford for trying new things and being responsive. My take Hyundai/Kai as an Ioniq 5 owner is that they're still in the old manufacturer establishment mentality of once it's out of the factory, it's done. Put major fixes in the model year 2 from now. Hyundai is giving some software updates and some are much needed, but they're much delayed. On the other hand, while some customers don't know what they're buying when they get a Lightning and make poor choices that excite EV haters, at least Ford leadership publicly commenting on the things they need to do to improve the experience of owning their EVs.

Not really a Ford fan, but the idea of electrifying an actual F-150 is smart, because anyone interested in buying a gas F-150 may be more tempted to go electric when they realize they are the same. The only area I think they dropped the ball is keeping the trim plate on the right hand side and making it a charge port as well. That way, it doesn't matter how you approach the charger.

They actually made a ranger ev from 98-02. Although they had nimh or lead acid batteries and got about 80 miles of range so it's probably not what you're looking for lol

I like that frunk too. One of my family members got a relatively small car and I think the trunk on the car is maybe a bit larger than the frunk here. It's just crazy what's possible with technology.

It's absurdely huge, very inefficient energy-wise (charging this 130 kWh battery will take forever thus having only 300 miles of range with this massive battery) and all that stuff that urbanists say: danger for pedestrians, unfit for parking lots etc. Classic 'murican 'city car'.

Question is: HOW MUCH MARK UP ARE THE DEALERSHlTS GOING TO CHARGE? majority of the Ford Dealerships past few years adding extra fees (which was somewhat illegal)... left a bad taste in most consumers.

They kinda burned the name with the mid 2000's reboot. Also, side from Mustang they don't make cars anymore. I'm not sure Thunderbird would work as a SUV or crossover.

You can't get factory wraps. And if this really is a "wrap" over a gloss black truck underneath then it's a huge waste of money. The least they could do is actually paint it matte black

I’m glad that they stuck with a body-on-frame design, they just got rid of the leaf springs and used independent rear suspension, improving rear ride comfort. That being said, I’ve seen the rear lower control arms and they’re massive and complex. If you get rear ended in this truck, it might get totaled if the rear lower control arms get damaged.
Honestly, as beefy and complex as they might be, the rear suspension components are the most expensive part of an accident, it'd be the frame damage. And with a full frame, youre much less likely to suffer frame damage or frame damage that can't easily be corrected, when compared with a unibody design.

It’s crazy how you can drive around in a $97k pickup truck, and nobody bats an eye. But if a young guy like me drives around in a Lotus or an Audi R8 that’s only $60k, I get harassed by people saying “daddy’s money” or “there are people starving in Africa while you drive around in that”

It’s assumed if you are driving those cars, you can afford maintenance and that probably means it’s paid off. These things are leased by every plumber in every podunk town despite being expensive.
Know what I get a less extreme but similar response to driving a mustang. I think that POV comes from people seeing “sports cars” as a secondary car. Benefits of no kids I suppose.

That's cool looking, can't imagine the $$$ for it though. I like Ford is listening to people about the little things. My truck has one USB jack in front that I can charge my phone with when the truck is off and it's surprisingly useful. Little stuff like that really makes a difference.

I respect Ford for trying new things and being responsive. My take Hyundai/Kai as an Ioniq 5 owner is that they're still in the old manufacturer establishment mentality of once it's out of the factory, it's done. Put major fixes in the model year 2 from now. Hyundai is giving some software updates and some are much needed, but they're much delayed. On the other hand, while some customers don't know what they're buying when they get a Lightning and make poor choices that excite EV haters, at least Ford leadership publicly commenting on the things they need to do to improve the experience of owning their EVs.
Yeah Jim Farrely has really changed gears since about EV's since the launch of this truck. The writing is on the wall and Ford is actually trying to make a good EV.

About 3 months ago I bought my 2023 F150 Lightening XLT and I absolutely LOVE it! So comfortable, great driving truck and fassssst! I wish there weren’t so many “anti-EV” people because this truck is amazing.

Not really a Ford fan, but the idea of electrifying an actual F-150 is smart, because anyone interested in buying a gas F-150 may be more tempted to go electric when they realize they are the same. The only area I think they dropped the ball is keeping the trim plate on the right hand side and making it a charge port as well. That way, it doesn't matter how you approach the charger.
