@michaelmika2995. I had the same experience. I can remember listening to them with an English friend of the family by the name of Pat Whitstock. She was about 28, I was about 12. She just played Smoke gets in your eyes over and over.. I am 80 in three days time. I have always loved The Platters.

I was born in 1985, so this music came out over a generation before I was even born, but it still played on the oldies stations when I was a kid. I've just been sitting here all night thinking about how it was the music my grandparents probably listened to in their 20s and 30s when they were newly weds and probably also when they dated. It not only gives me a nostalgic feeling, but it even goves me an eerie kind of feeling...like I'm watching a world of ghosts on a video, knowing that all of those people are long gone, and I'm looking through a window into a different world that is also long gone. I'm sorry I did not appreciate this type of music for all those years when I was younger the way that I do now.
